I’m 68; caught these guys live in the early ‘70’s. Even if you didn’t toke, EVERYBODY Knew and listened to these guys. Like movie dialog…WHAT they said, and HOW they said it was in popular culture.
Me thinks their smoking routine is just a gimik, I dont think they smoke weed at all.
We bought their album and smoked a joint with the huge rolling paper that came with it. Used a half ounce I think. So much resin on it that it burned my lips. I had all their 8 tracks in the 70s. I am 67 great times.
They own smoke shops in California, Colorado and Michigan. Often known to smoke with customers.🔥@@buzz5969

Two classic dudes. Seeing this routine took me back when I was working the midnight shift at a small hospital on Christmas 1972. I played a cassette tape of "Santa Claus and His Old Lady" and "Dave" for the staff members I was working with. Everyone throughly enjoyed hearing it and it made our night a little more enjoyable. In retrospect, life was so much better back then. Thank you, @AXSTV, for the pleasant flashbacks🙏

I can’t believe it but 47 years ago I was in high school and me and two of my buddies saw them perform their stand-up at a Veterans Building in Northern California in 1977. They hadn’t even started acting in their first film (Up in Smoke) but they had released 5 albums and we absolutely loved Big Bambu (1972) with tracks such as Sister Mary Elephant, Ralph & Herbie, The streets of LA/SF…. all just gut busting material. When we saw them they were promoting Sleeping Beauty. So to see them live was just an absolute blast. My parents would have killed me if they knew what the “comedians” were doing. Thank god there was no Google then!

In 1974 I bought my future ex brother in law's cassette recorder/player which came with all his cassettes including his his Cheech and Chong tapes. This was not known to our mother's. I was 10, he was 19 and still had hair.

I've heard dozens of people make that claim. But if you actually looked at the paper and know anything about rolling, you'd know it would be about impossible to roll an actual joint with it.
