Today I asked my gastroenterologist about hyperbaric oxygen + mesalamine enemas as a long term maintenance therapy. -I've been on inflectra for 1.5 yrs. I received inflectra during my 2nd hospitalization for severe UC. I was just skin and bones when I received inflectra. Also, I had a minor flare earlier this year, but I've been in remission from this flare for the past 6 months. Like you, inflectra worked miraculously for me too. Within hours after my infusion, I felt like a dark cloud that had been keeping me down just floated away... Anyway, my doctor said that he has only treated Crohn's Disease patients with hyperbaric oxygen. These patients tend to improve with hyperbaric oxygen treatments, but the treatments need to be sustained for a long period of time. And when the treatments stop, the disease tends to return. My doctor is not aware of any clinical trials of hyperbaric oxygen as a maintenance therapy for UC. I've seen some clinical trials that use hyperbaric oxygen for severe UC as an additional therapy to standard treatments. HOWEVER, my doctor isn't opposed to hyperbaric oxygen as part of a maintenance therapy if I can remain free of a flare for the next couple of years. That sounded very reasonable to me. I hope this info helps! -I'm feeling very healthy these days. I'm playing basketball most Sunday mornings, and I hiked Mt Whitney last month. This is the highest mountain in the continental USA, 14,495 ft!
@@jacobsIBD Yes, I will let you know. I probably won't start the hyperbaric oxygen therapy for at least 1 -2 years. I think hyperbaric oxygen will be the best way to make the transition off of inflectra. -Also, I really enjoy your channel. You provide excellent content!
Jacob, I've had the same quick response with this med. Hours later I felt better,, AMAZING!!! I did get the major side effects of Lupus and bad body aches. Had to get off the meds,, but wow. This one did help the fastest so far for me. Been on a variety of biologics and immunotherapy meds and I would recommend this to anyone in a major flare and was in HOSPITAL condition. Thanks for all the Videos brother. Stay well my friend.
Also an increase in frequency, I.E. from 8 weeks to 4 weeks, could be a useful way of reducing symptoms if 8 weeks is too far apart. I would definitly prefer to go down the frequency route rather than a larger dose if I need to in the future.

Have you got heart palpitations? I have been getting these since Remicade.
Also what dose are you on? They upped mine to 10kg/MG every 4 weeks :(
As I write this I am getting my IV right now. It is 400mg. I have had random heart palpitations before, but can't say its related to the IV.
