this looks like they had 2 years to do the rework but remembered to do it only 2 weeks before deadline
So based on what I saw. The reason it took so long is because every suppression in the game was coded upon Skarner ult. So before they removed him they had to recode how suppressions work.

@@firelynx1266 blatant misinformation. Lexi's comment on old skarner code being removed has nothing this catastrophic related to it. Its just old legacy code that probably was referenced often, but had no real bearing. A missing particle effect is at most what could end up being lost.

This champ just needs to be reverted atp. So much overloaded shit for no reason so ofc the only way to balance it is by making the champ feel inert and have shit stats. Not fun playing as or against this champ and its giga useless as well. Give it a few months and play rate will be even lower than old skarner

Skarner is very strong in lane imo. I consider him a lane bully. Simply because his poke is very strong with the W comet spam, and it's unbelievably hard to dodge to the point where you can consider it point click. Champions with a lack of innate sustain, even if they have Dshield and second wind, struggle to hold their own vs this poke. I can't say how strong he is out of lane. Most of the Skarners I've had (Diamond) have been useless after lane phase like you said. But I've seen some high elo (GM/C1) games and I've seen Skarners do some wild stuff. So maybe players just need to get the hang of it? At the very least the W poke needs to be nerfed. That shit's too oppressive and braindead to deal with
