You're certainly right in saying you pays your money and take your chances. Those EGR bypassers were all not the same. When I had my diesel ZT back in 2007 one of the 1st things I did was join the 75 ZT owners forum where there were lots of posts about the different EGR blanks available. There were 2 that were recommended. Yes they all looked the same but were different in quality of materials and the actual sizes of the different parts of the blank. The blank I put on with the RonBox transformed my car. I had that car four years and 80k miles and no EGR issues whatsoever. Even had the car serviced and MOT'd at a Rover dealer (that dealer kept the Rover computer stuff after it changed to a different car make) and they didn't notice the blank and all emissions tests passed. Felt I had to post this as not all blanks were the same even tho they looked it.

My Cooler pipe failed, I had done an EGR delete long time ago and this wasnt connected to the delete part. When mine failed I just put a large bolt into the pipe sealed it with a tiny bit of exhaust paste and its sealed. A ten minute job.

I got and fitted the egr delete from your previous video yesterday, on the way home from work today the egr pipe snapped anyway!

Oh bugger. Yeah seems very hit and miss with them. You could use the larger "penny" washer and block it off before the pipe, that's easy fix unless you want to block it at the block for a manual car.

@@RobsonRoverRepair well I've just gone thru the traumatic procedure of ripping the battery out and burning 2 levels of crap out of my hands to get the blanking plate on behind the engine, luckily I got lil hands so I dread to think how a normal bloke would manage 😂

My 2004 Diesel fortunately does not have the concertina pipe attached as one to the long curved pipe shown here so when the concertina pipe fractured after just a day (!) I was able to just remove it and blank off the long pipe with shims in the usual way. Lucky me I suppose.

Great video after searching for a long time about this common issue which no body has posted before!! I have a a quick question... I had just fitted one of these egr by pass valve and its cracked my egr cooler pipe... any advice on getting to torque??? I'm dreading it

Which part are you worried about? The bolts going into the block with the blanking plate or into the inlet manifold?

    • @Adieb786

@@RobsonRoverRepair the 2 torque bolts on exuast manifold where the stainless pipe connects to... I've ended up removing the EGR cooler and modifying the plate to blank exhaust manifold... I was going to remove injectors and rocker cover to get easier access but after watching your video I managed to complete the job a lot sooner and easier.... Thank you

Good to hear mate, the bolts themselves I couldn't find a torque anywhere for them so I went very carefully with them.

Anyone recommend the blanking kit on DMGRS?

    • @RobsonRoverRepair

It's perfectly fine and I've fitted plenty. If you want the absolute king however the Allisport.com one is the king.

Bought on your advice. Fitted this evening when I did my pcv bypass and air filter. Egr and manifold were CLAGGY! Cleaned that, fitted the allisport and now she can breathe properly. Thank you. Your guidance has been first rate.

Have you got any information on how to monitor live data for the MAF and injectors? I've got Toaf and a Vagcom lead, but I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong, or the software isn't capable?
Ive got a shuddery idle and my oil level is suspiciously high. Car just doesn't feel right. Unfortunately it's not had the best life at 180k :/

I've linked the pins as well, just to clear that one up :)

I've a mafless remap. Don't have to worry about mafs ever again. Your injectors may be juddering due to fuel pump rather than injector wear. Always worth considering.
I don't use toaf myself, mate has a t4 and just nip round to him for the correct info.
As for oil, why not just drain it, measure and put it back in. Or for £7 each on amazon is 4 litres of defender oil (buy 2) and a £5 oil filter.
Its probably overfilled as its hard to get right oil reading on them. Why I always measure what comes out and goes in.
