A sundown town historically meant black people were not allowed to live there, and sundown towns popped up across the United States between 1890 and 1940.
Mom was born in 1930 and grew up in North Tonawanda. I remember her telling us that “black people had to be out of town by dark”. It seemed ridiculous to a kid’s ears, and it wasn’t until the 1990s when I first read about the sundown rules being a real thing!
It's funny that WKBW did this story when the EP and main anchor at the time (blonde thin lady) admitted they didn't know it was racist here. That was 2 years after they approved this story for air. Do better WKBW
just because it happened to be called sundowner doesn’t mean it has any relation to this. as hard as it is to believe. as that is because most sundown towns were on purpose and that’s where they had signs that said sundown mean while this is a neighborhood which probably who knows what the name relates to that’s what they’re really should be focusing on investigating where the name came from and seeing if it has any relationship to this unfortunate occurrence in our American history
This was probably just some neighborhood crap somebody probably not even from the neighborhood or somebody from the neighborhood is very very sensitive complained and that’s why I got taken down there was no investigation which there should’ve been if somebody complain instead they’re over collaborating with peoples political opinions instead of actually doing there jobs
I think this recording is terrible you spent too much time covering the sundown town and not so much on the sign or why people actually want to take it down in general or who wants to take it down in other words it’s very bad reporting and probably gonna make things worse or not better
let me explain it like this: A house is on fire and you call the fire department. Should the fire department check on every house because all houses matter, or should they put out the burning building to salvage what is left and rebuild? All houses matter, but this one needs help now.
Of course all lives matter who says they don’t, stop all like hate, like they said stop Asian hate!! Older white pepper know exactly what sundown town is!!!!!

All lives should matter. Not just black!!!
Black lives matter doesn’t mean only black lives that isn’t what it means . All lives can’t matter until black lives do.
@@Michelle__. that doesn't make sense
@@bobbysfacts1981 it doesn’t make sense because you’re white.
