"The hazard exercise takes a while to perfect.. please don't be discouraged at first." -Steve Видеоклипы
Saw Billy Sheehan doing similar exercises. That’s why these guys are sooo great
really nice! a few months ago id never thought id need this exercise. now that im a bit more experinced, i have exercised this, and realiced how important it is!
Awesome exercise Steve! Thank you!
Thanx for pointing this out to me!You are Right!
dude this excersise is a beast ive been tryin it for a week now and i still dont have it down well enought to get it one the first fret
Muchísimas gracias profesor
Very challenging! One of the hardest right hand exercised I've ever encountered.
how'd it go, u think it improved your technique?
pretty much yeah, both of them are very often together. They represend the ying and yang of bass, fretted and fretless, finger style and slap etc
Damn the hard one is the second position on the 6-string. I'm gonna have to practice that one.
thanks master
That's a great exercise. Mr.steve bailey, you're a fucking legend.
@XrisikosTonPernei666 It's even crazier when he does it on a six string!
dude, its victor. he did a dvd with him called bass extremes
I would do this exercise in variation because if you're not careful you can physically harm your fingers (tendons, muscles, ect.) if you don't have the strength to do this.
ohh my funking godddd this is insaneee....!!!!
i think so yeah
3:17 “Now my second finger stays there”. My fingers don’t work this way 😅
my fingers are literally breaking with my first attempt. Hopefully I get better in 30 days!
Hey luthier... I NEED MY BASS HURRY UP!
I'm seeking counsel......
that bass is shiny pants
Just tried it on a 5 string with fanned frets. Nop. No way. I can't reach!
Wooten!!?
I actually don't want independence with my third and fourth fingers. I tend to fuse them together creating one super finger, giving me three fingers. Less is more.
I think he does yoga.
lol, was he talking about Victor Wooten in the beginning of this video?
yes
but who will pay my hospital bill?!
But you also need to work on your technic so playing your musical ideas that you hear in your head is very easy.
Technical practice like that offer the possibility to also learn your fingerboard, smooth shifting etc. So the day you have to play a beautiful melody, it will be beautiful instead of full of fret nuise and awful ...
and what if you have to play something really complex and technical and because you never practice that kind of stuff you can't do it, you won't have the job.
And I dont have spider monkey hands. Thats PAINFULLY aparent. My little finger is half as long as my ring finger. Theres some things I just cant do. BUT my little finger does play !
I'm the one that can't do that haha
I know that you are trying to take a stab a Jeff Berlin but even Vic Wooten says your practice is meant for getting better at making music and to practice everything in a musical way.
I'm not questioning Baileys judgement,I'm just noticing a difference in opinions between many of the masters!
I would not listen much to Wooten personally,as I would not like to come out playing like that, but I actually Would listen to Berlin or any other Melodic or Groove player! Techniqual exersizes would teach u the instrument, but not music! You need to practice what u want to Play!
Stefan Svensson - correct- Steve is a knowledgeable musician, he offers finger strengtheners like this for free.
He could teach you as much as anyone about music, he gets paid for that one.😋
Your wife does yoga.
Fist bump.
no, no... Jackie Chan
I think I hurt myself...........
This is what HE says!
Someone else would say,Don't practice that kind of "spider" exercises, spend the time practicing MUSICAL things! This includes scales and arpeggios, and practice MELODIES!
OR just make the "spider" musical! Preposterous, I know!
I tried this shit. It's ridiculous.
This exercises in my opinion can only damage your tendons, and will not give you any knowledge of the fingerboard or frames to use…..you can do the same skipping ideas over scales in 6ths or sevenths 5ths 4ths, etc, arpeggios, and all that includes skipping and gives you a knowledge of the fingerboard along with musical frames to use…….is my opinion….
Pablo Alfieri Cantore well, no offense but I'll take the opinion of the Berkley head of the department of bass, over a RUclips random. I think the purpose of the exercise is to build your use of you 3 and 4 fingers independence. Not as a cure all learn everything
Steve Bailey seems like too much to invent. I do not see that in this type of exercise can be useful musically. Strengthening maybe?? .... I think not! ... These exercises can cause tremendous pain and is even worse, arthritis, tendonitis and other itis.
Well, i have practice this for 3 weeks and i can move my fingers better like nothing before. I'm grateful for this excercise.
ideal to hurt yourself…..why not practice hand positions that are musical and within a context, instead of doing gymnastics with your hand, that you´ll never get to use in real playing situations,…………you can do challenging exercises using arpeggios and inversions, which you will get to use quite a bit………..just my opinion, with respect always.
Or maybe u r just missing the point. Just see it as one more
tool. It's up to u to make it musical.
