How To Disassemble and Clean Low Profile Baitcaster Fishing Reels

In this video I show you how to take apart a baitcasting reel, clean it and put it back together. It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. The reel that I clean in this videos is a LEWS BB1 but you can apply this to any other low profile bait caster with the exception of the Shimano baitcasters. Shimano requires a special lubricant for there drag brakes. However all other steps do apply. You will find that Abu Garcie, Bass Pro Shops, Diawa, Shimano and Lews Low profile baitcasters are all nearly identical inside.

Good video. I bought a sonic cleaner off Amazon for $80. Remove the C-clips and pop all the bearings into a small jar full of simple green. Run em for 10 mins in the sonic cleaner (fill with just water, put jar full of cleaner and bearing in the water sealed). That blasts ALL the gunk out. Blast the bearings with canned air to get the cleaner out, oil em and you’ll swear your real was brand new.

🤣. Next time you try it he sure to put the pieces in order as you break the reel down. You can find schematics online for most reels fairly easy just in case you have a hiccup. You can also try recording the breakdown on your phone. Once you've done it once or twice it will become way easier. I'll be uploaded a basic 5 minute maintenance cleaning in the next couple days.
