- In today's devlog, I'm gonna show you a new enemy and its matching room, that we have added to Billy's Nightmare.

I think a cool boss could be the special effects guy, whom will use his many effects to try to defeat billy

O, how about placing him in the background just using his console and spawning various different portal (different than the normal ones) where famous movie-effects appear like the arm of king Kong trying to hit u (of course life size) or something like that

-manipulate the room around him( ie raising pillars from the ground).
-EXPLOSIONS because what movie doesn't have explosions?
-create spooky monsters and stuff.
-bend reality(think gravity, portals, Thanos reality stone, ect).
-any other cgi stuff you can come up with!

A Director Boss. He sits in his chair and spawns enemies like in a play all while fireing bullethell projectiles at billy

I love this devlog series, this game is incredible, what you guys end up thinking of is perfect! I love the thought of facing like a child's fears ect. So I think like a clown boss and dungeon would be awesome. Also a spider one! And I think you should add a police, fireman, ambulance, doctor and stuff like that because that's jobs that kids want to do! I really love this! You should also implement timed challenges for teeth or special items/gear/costumes! Thanks for everything haha
Possible Theme: Safari/Savanna like environment. You could put some wild animals in it with some leap, rip and tear abilities (more melee combat with gap closing abilites). That could bring some variety with an outdoor environment. Rooms could be enclosed with rocks/mountains instead of walls. Destroyable objects could be bushes, plants, savanna grass, small trees. Great video though!

You could have the manager for the Italian restaurant to attack you with paperwork. And for the sea theme you could have “the kraken” as a boss and maybe a camera as the book monster, a Pufferfish as the chemistry teacher but shoot a skeleton attack with spines and a piranha/ angler fish could be like the melee teacher.
I feel like there should be a Boss for every theme!
for Example the Boss for the Alien space theme Could be a sith lord type boss throwing lightsabers shooting lightning using some kind of force to push billy or Objects in the room.
the Boss for the Italien restaurant theme could be an Mafia boss Holding two Tommy guns and throwing around Cases full of money or he could smoke a cicarette and blow smoke in the form of bullets at Billy.
The Western boss should be an old Train that drives in an circle around billy and has a few wagons with diffrent weopens like a wagon full of cowboys were cowboys randomly Jump out and a wagon with an old western minigun that randomly shoots a few bullets.
And the boss For the Underwater theme could be The flying dutchman shooting skulls as cannonballs that home in at billy spiting flames out at the front and spawning ghost pirates with cutlasses.
Those are all my Boss ideas that i have I hope They are good and that some of them will appear in the game thanks for reading :D

and The Ghost pirates would spin and turn into tornados and charge at billy after spin they would be stunned and then teleport to an other position!
How about a ghost girl. She will be an harder work like the chemistry teacher but she will run faster if you look away and has more health. Her explosion could be just her screaming really loud

As a boss, I think the obvious answers would be something like a director or special fx guy, but I would suggest a tag-team style boss fight with a boss themed off every enemy type. Personally, on the topic of enemies, the diver seems very similar to the bubble girl in natural. Considering that most of your harder enemies just repeat the attack of the original enemy, I would suggest doing the same for the diver to spice up his attack patterns. Additionally, I believe that the horror enemy can made a little more deadlier by revamping his melee attack range.

I've been following devlogs ever since ThinMatrix kinda started the trend. It's amazing to see your progress and the way you shape this game based on community feedback. Maybe the boss could be a movie director, a big fat guy that shouts at Billy with his megaphone
I also think that the diver should spawn more bullets because right now the bullet pattern seems very little in comparison with him

I think it'd be cool if there was a bull boss fight for the wild west theme. With some fancy name, and charge attacks like the football player. (but of course more powerful)

Good progress. I think for the sea level, adding 'starfish' that shoots 5 bullets (one from each tip) would be cool. Starfish would not move and in itself would not be very dangerous, but it's attack combined with others might post a problem, it also provides a different pattern; while others aim at billy starfish will just shoot every x sec in the direction of each point of the star. "sea urchin" could also have the same AI as the book in the school, but should do more damage.

Maybe for the Space room,the boss could be a UFO that would shoot lasers and try to capture you with a Star Trek style "Beam me up, Scotty" laser.

A guy dressed up as a kraken, his attack would be to spin his tentacles around while slowly walking , idk sounded pretty cool in my head

You could add the outside of these studio hangars, you know where all the big halls an narrow roads are.
Maybe the boss of this level could be a horde boss where you fight a huge group of actors/actress, extras, interns,... (you name it!) and they act like a big zombie wave.
Then make the part of the map quite big and use the mount as a boss tool to escape faster from the coming zombie waves
In addition to that, you remember when the WoW dev's tried to implement mount stats/attacks during the start of WoD? Maybe try working in that direction too?
The stats on them probably wouldn't fit your game design, but the idea that your mount performs some sort of "special move"/attack could be fun :)

i think the chainsaw enemy in the new devlog looks a bit off, he's really tall and kinda skinny and doesn't look threatening
he's very still and doesn't have much movement, and he looks more like a devil than an actual killer out of a horror movie
i think he would look better more hunched over/more relaxed (but in a more 'serial killer' kind of way, if that makes any sense) instead of standing tall and stiff just looking at you like he's slightly annoyed, instead of actually coming after you
even a mask on his head would make him look much more threatening, maybe change his skin tone and add blood on the pants to make him seem more intimidating

It would be kinda cool if the western themed room had an Apache/Native American type boss... basically something straight out of 'Dances With Wolves' or 'The Ballad of Buster Skruggs' (or any Spaghetti Western). He could be on horse back and charge at you, and even call in reinforcements that shoot at you

The horror movie guy should spawn two circle of bullets instead of just one. The diver could have a anchor to get closer to the player every 2 attacks. A boss idea would be a alien similar to a cockroach that rushes over the player, throws a stream of bullets and spawn cockroachs to attack and annoy the player.

The chainsaw boss looks great! I like the modified attack with the projectiles, definitely makes him feel more powerful. The diver is great too! Reminds me of the diver from the spongebob movie xD

If you take the chainsaw guy and attach the chainsaw to his hand (Ash from Evil Dead style) you could then let him swing out the chainsaw in a bigger arc rather than him needing to hold it with two hands. :D

Idea:
A giant possessed camera that shoots lasers as the final boss as it would be funny and jas many attack applications like a large laser beem or shooting many laser projectiles.

Boos 2: Laser-shooting alien camera guy
Boos 3: Fat italian mafia boss
You could do the movie director as the final boss he can send previous enemies in the level to attack billy and also attack normally

Boss idea: the director. This boss would command actors to defend him from the player but while fighting them lights will fall from the ceiling shattering into bullet patterns to dodge.

Absolutely love the Diver, but I gotta tell you, the chainsaw monster ain't cutting it for me. I think the attack animation itself is a little on the weak side, which has led to an overall lackluster attack.
What if his attack was instead him quickly charging forward with the chainsaw grinding against the floor, releasing sparks in the form of projectiles that travel perpendicularly to the charge direction? Add another animation with him revving up the chainsaw before the charge and we're golden!

Idea: sea boss should be a shark that can go under the floor with only his finn sticking out of the ground homing into the player. Once close enough it will jump out of the floor launching bullet patterns. This boss would be really fast.

I would like the gegisseur as a boos for this stage. He would try to kill billy with the set pieces, that he has in his studio. For example he could summon a iconic iniana jones style trap with spikes at the bottom that billy has to avoid. I dont know if you ever played hollow knight, but SPOILER ALERT the final boss, called radiance, never attacks the player herself. She summons swords, lightbeams and projectiles to kill the player, wich offer great platforming challenges, while the player has to get as many hits in as possible. You can wath people beting her on youtube, to see what I mean. Obviosly platforming is not the point of billys nightmare, but giving the regisseur the ability to spawn traps, projectiles and other obstacles the player has to avoid would indeed make for a great boss concept. Also it would make perfect sense to have the regisseur as the boss for this stage.

Suggestion for movie studio : since superheroes and villains are really popular can we have some fights against them or maybe some little super villains 3 or 5 of them to fight instead of just one big boss

@@JonasBroman maybe make it red but look more like buble, that might look nice, maybe even make them explode when they reach the end, that might make it more challenging and cool like the bubbles would explode in a chain reaction based on how the enemy shot them so it would be different every time and u can reuse the red bubble projectile for other enemies and make cool attack patterns
You should add some other type of enemies, y'know some sort of enemies that aren't just an enemy you already had with just some other thing, like a mad wizard that can throw bullets with weird pattern, also maybe a break room would be a good room to add, were many different enemies could be together and it would make sense, also for a boss idea maybe a mermaid, they could be spooky for a kid, and maybe it could spawn some divers too, just some ideas i had.

I think i only have one idea for this devlog right now and that is an evil director that found some strange potion and drank it so now he has magic (sounds weird i know lol) an he makes all the actors real so his powers would be: spawning super powered actors 2 at a time (increasingly difficult with how much health you take off) and the super powered actors would be like the nurses pet bully but off the chain and the new guys. thats all i can think of so yeh hope this goes into the game lol

Oh and I know you get overwhelmed with ideas and stuff but maybe there shoukd be regular enemies, mini bosses and true bosses and the True bosses progress the story and you only have to defeat once and even implement a prestige/new game+ type feature for replayability maybe with special items/gear you couldn't aquire before? Have you thought of adding armour, rings, trinkets and gems too??

i have lots of staff that i want to share
first of all i want to suggest a skin idea:
you can add a divers skin which can shot from a divers gun and hook enemies closer to him (you can hold the shot button to hook them as close as you want) for his secondary attack he can let some fishes from his bag that will swim all over the room and it could be like a luck base ability cause you can have multiple fishes coming out of the bag (most common- a medium sized fish that can bounce from walls, second most common fish- blue fish that will home to an enemy and deal half of the damage that pijamas billy nerf gun dose, 3rd most common fish- a fish that will fly of your bag really fast and deal more damage, first rare fish- a fish that will dig its way under ground and jump from the ground 3 times on an enemy [he can miss tho] dealing 3/4 the nerf gun damage,
the 2nd most rare fish- a really bid shark that will fly really fast bounce of walls and stay longer time, the rarest fish- a fish the will crash upon touching an enemy or a wall deal no damage but will give you a special ability that when you land him in a room he will make the floor wet which result the enemies to slip on the floor for couple of sec.
mount: he will swim in the air and with fishes and boubles around him.
boss:he will fight the director of the movie which will summon little monsters from all the rooms that will get stronger the less hp he has, i think that he could change the enviormante of the boss walls and each one will make somewhat harder to fight him (alien room- will result a bunch of alien eggs on the floor that will hatch upon touching, italian room- you wouldnt be able to touch the walls because of some hot sous spilled all over them and sometimes will even shout you laghania, ghanochi or pasta that will do damage, cowboy room- will result of a lot of horses running around the room and doing damage to you, sea room- will result water on the floor that will make you slide when you walk and also spawn a bunch of sharkes that will jump on you like the one from jaws)
i think that the boss will need to change his outfits for the enviormant hat he is in but his outfits will be silly and bad and made with ducktape and staff
new room: an airplane while in the middle of kidnap there will be ppl that will blow them self up like the teacher but there bomb will be much bigger and every time they will explode the screen will shake, 2nd enemy: the kidnap crew that will be a bunch of dudes in a big group that will shot for a lot of directions like the skeleton but there shot will be faster and will cause you some really big knockback upon landing a hit on you, 3rd enemy will be the airplanes driver that will have some kind of a helmet on that will brain wash him to shot at you little plains that will be controlled by him and home tword you untill you kill them and when they are killed they will explode.
a new enemy for the sea theme room: a zombie from the deep that will follow you like the book dealing meele damage but also throwing tridons at you,
a big sword fish (with the actors legs sticking out of it) that will dash twords and when hitting will knock you back like the pirate's secondary attack.

@@JonasBroman I don't think you remember but I seggested at the last devlog to make a buff Billy and his mount will be a bully so I draw one with the bully and one without and I also tried to make a new enemy for the cowboy room it's half a horse half a human and it's my first time drawing with pixel art so it's kind of bad I think but I will really appreciate if you and fabian could look into them

I would like to see an evil clown boss fight
We definitely want to add a clown boss, but he might fit better for the level we want to do after the movie studio.
Chainsaw guy is not good..how about add a debuff wen it hits you will make you bleed. .refusing movement speed and damage overtime. . Make his damage area a circle. The chainsaw guy at the center. .and it is posible to add a second attack? If so add the chargge attack to him. .that way the level become more dangerous to consider it next level.

TheBroman90 hmm i think it could be a submarine as the mount or maybe some larger fish. As the attacks I feel like a harpoon gun could be used as a normal weapon or maybe that is to close to the harpoon that the pirates throws. As of the other attack I think something with an exploding pufferfish. Thanks for reading my idea. :)

I really like where the game is and is going and support it 100% however did i miss something as like why are all the projectiles from bosses the same? surely it would feel a lot more unique if they had different projectiles?

We have only released one update for the demo; version 0.1.1. Everything I make devlogs about now will only be for the full release of the game.

Umm me and my friend are trying to play together but it is confusing, how do you do multiplayer? We put in 5000 as the port and for ip we also put 5000 but it didn't work.....
This is what I do to play with my friend:
1. Both of you have to download Hamachi; a software that emulates a local area network.
2. Create a network in Hamachi and send the password to your friend so he can join you there.
3. Host a game in Billy's Nightmare, using port 5000.
4. Your friend then has to right click your name in Hamachi and copy your IPv4 address.
5. Then he can join you in Billy's Nightmare, using port 5000 and pasting the IP he copied from you.
6. If nothing happens, both of you can minimize the game and see if the firewall is asking for permission.

can you make a outfit upgrades and lvls so you can have your favorite outfit with some really good weapon and health and a a more buff mount or more fast mount
you can also add a buyable mount upgrades or skins and some buyable staff for your pillow fort and even a training dummy so when you buy a new outfit and you want to see what it can do without losing your winstreak(you should add winstreak too XD) and i would like to have reskins for the outfits cause i have like 50 stars and nothing to do
and also the dino outfit is is not that good like i really like his weapon and i really like to throw all the enemies into the lava (you really should add lava to the new level)
and its ability is horible and its my least favorite charector to get with in the random button and it cost the most stars in the game i think it should be better
and also can you add some new outfits you didnt add any outfit since like forever and its kinda boring doing the same thing again and again with the same outfits
but i still love your game

I dont think the chainsaw enemy looks scary enough, maybe you could fix that with just adding blood to the chainsaw and/or on his body and maybe a big scar over his face and 1 missing 1 or/and just some small scars over his body with sewing. That would make him look way more evil. And maybe it is just my opinion , but the new enemies look very detailed (detailed pixelart) and billy / the other enemies are way more simplistic, which doesnt make the new enemies fit into the style of the game i think.

And for the sea theme you could have “the kraken” as a boss and maybe a camera as the book monster, a Pufferfish as the chemistry teacher but shoot a skeleton attack with spines and a piranha/ angler fish could be like the melee teacher.
