Done all but this. Tnx for doing this vid 🤗 REALLY looking forward to the 29. Its by far my favorite puzzle of all time. I spent hours(with many s’s) Best of luck
@@KarenPuzzles I guess someone has to tell him. Could be a bit hard for him that someone whose specialty are normal puzzles beats him with that huge time difference.
I don't like the little gaps in btwn the pieces. It doesn't look "solved" to my eye. My brain just rejects the look of the results. Good job w the time tho.Corner.
That's part of the challenge. Things that look like they might fit together don't necessarily do that. The goal was to fit them in the tray. It doesn't say how.
this is very much the point of this particular style of puzzle. they are designed to be very non intuitive in completion. the creator very much wants solvers to think outside the box.
Yeah and it is exactly what Yuu Asaka is known for. His first puzzle (jigsaw 29) was for an assignment I believe. He wanted to showcase what thinking outside the box would look like.
I remember watching Chris's video and when it took him a couple of hours to solve, I thought level 10 puzzles are really difficult. But then BAM! you solve this in 30 min!!!!!!!! Will you do more brainteaser puzzles? I think you're really good at them. And , corner :D
It's not enough to just make something hard for it to be fun. You have to feel like you figured something out rather than just search a random space until stumbling on the goal. Also, Karen's gentle laugh could mean either slight amusement or maddening rage.
Hmm, I'm going to disagree with you here because I think this is exactly what it feels like when you've come up with a perfect solution to something you've been thinking about for a while. A Eureka moment. You play around until something close to it fits, then finally, the last one is like, THAT'S IT! It's meta but I like it
I'm not a fan of 'surprise' puzzles like this; anyone who tried solving it without knowing the secret trick would naturally assume they're supposed to fit somewhat cleanly with no gaps, like a regular jigsaw puzzle. Luckily you spotted it early on and didn't waste too much time on it, unlike Chris Ramsey who must've been confused with all the CORNERS.
Well, the task was to fit all the pieces onto the tray and not connect them, right. It's not really surprise. Unless you give it to someone and tell them it's jigsaw puzzle but that's kinda mean misdirection.
I like brain teasers, but they are expensive to ship from Canada to the Netherlands, but ('corner') I bought an easy lock puzzle from puzzlemaster to give my girlfriend promise rings (which we choose together) for her birthday back in February this year. But she didn't know I did that, nor that it was a puzzle so she had to figure out how to get the rings out. It was really fun and I think quite original.
I actually like doing these kinds of puzzles. This is kind of the most advanced of these kinds of puzzles. But the key is to eliminate options, just like with regular jigsaw puzzles. You know that you can find a solution no matter how it is rotated or flipped, so pick a piece to have a particular orientation and stick to that. Then based on that piece, you figure out exactly what can go around it. There will always be a possibility you can eliminate at this stage too; some piece that can't align with it without there being a big gap. From there you kind of solve it like a cryptogram. What is the most logical groups of patterns to follow? And at some point you eliminate the most common patterns until you get to the one that makes sense but you weren't thinking of- and you solve it :)
Me: crying in a CORNER because I don't have the brain power to actually solve this (ps. Love your content you got me into puzzles and I'm so thankful for that❤️)
That'a the first thing i would check and see i miss half a little square. The other thing i notice is why that curves on acute angles next to quarter circles. But had no clue to why until watching final solution
Your puzzle collection is literally goals! I am so so jealous :D How amazing is it that you solved this so quickly with this odd CORNER piece solution :) Absolutely love your channel! Thanks for bringing me joy in these weird times! ;)
I used to do lots of puzzles like this, and I'm really good at them. There's less of a technique to it than you might think, just systematic guessing is usually the correct method. Although now that I look at this one, I'm sure there's a way to use maths to prove that a tricky solution is necessary. Imagine the board is a checkerboard, and pay attention to the number of black squares covered by each piece... Okay maybe I lied, there's a technique to these puzzles.
If I tried this puzzle it would end up tossed away in a "corner" collecting dust xD Well, actually I would maybe try and let my 4 year old niece solve it, since she so far has no notion of how normal jigsaw puzzles work.
I'm way too ADHD to do puzzles... it's like pulling teeth. But for some reason love watching others solve them. It's like offloading all the work while still getting the satisfaction. :-P
I started liking to do puzzles more because of watching your videos. I actually did the 5000 gradient puzzle a couple of weeks ago and it was a lot of fun.
3:15 The first thing to do with any puzzle with small amount of pieces is to tightly pack everything into the frame and see how much extra space you'll have in the end if some parts overlap, just mentally tranfer the overlapping areas to empty areas to estimate the total remaining empty space. I think the hardest 2D puzzles with small amount of pieces are those that will have pretty much empty space in the final arrangement. Because you cannot know the correct shape of the empty space, it increases solution space hugely.
I thought this one was backing you in a corner but as always you come through. Love your puzzle channel. I’m getting ready to start the da Vinci code Mona Lisa jigsaw puzzle I found it in an old house the box and everything was clean and everything and I’m Very excited to get started
Looks very like pentomino pieces, but weirdly shaped and randomly get an extra grid, like I can recognize the "p", "f", "y" etc. Maybe the way to start is calculating the size of the rectangle base, and then do it the same way one plays pentominos. Edit: my bad to comment before finish watching. Those rounded corners must be maddening!
At 6:25 when you had all but one piece in, it was clear, comparing the space left in the frame with the remaining piece that there would be gaps. I think I would have given up in disgust at that point 🤪
Omg the end of this!! LOL!! And your comment right as you got it. BEST. TIMING. EVER. That was hilarious!! Maybe that was your subconscious "puzzle muscle memory" working out where that corner needed to go. Congrats on such a quick time to complete.

I like how your favorite hobby is solving puzzles with nearly endless options. So your also guessing if your audience is either screaming at you because your way off, or SO close. Almost like your mind is programmed to think of multiple options....I really think this didn't make sense from how I was thinking it. Haha.
Hello Karen! Just seen your videos for the first time today. I love both jigsaw and brain teaser puzzles. I just received 3 puzzles that I backed on Kickstarter and they are "magic" puzzles. They're 1000 pc puzzles that have a sealed envelope ending that is revealed when the puzzle is done. The company is called the Magic Puzzle Co and I believe they have these available on their webstore.
I feel like this is one of those situations where subconsciously your brain saw the triangle and the triangle space and flipped it over without you consciously choosing to do so. Those "visualize the piece you need" skills wound up coming in handy after all!
A clever parity argument reveals which piece must be in a different orientation than the rest. Each piece would cover 6 small squares on a checkerboard. All but one piece would cover 3 white squares and 3 black squares, but the different piece covers 4 and 2 instead. By rotating it 45 degrees, it then covers 3 and 3, which then enables it to fit with the other pieces inside the frame, which covers an equal number of black and white squares.
Hello Karen, My brother when he was little had 3 puzzles (different shapes) like the one you're putting together, just a little bigger. Out of the 3 I got 1put together, struggled with the other 2. It was fun. Corner

LMAO. I loved your reaction to completing the puzzle so unexpectedly. 🤣 It's funny how that one piece needed to go sideways. I kept thinking during your struggle that that particular piece would be the most difficult one because of it's odd shape and 3 rounded corners. I definitely would have tried putting that one in first each time, but that, I guess, would've made it an even harder solve.
Corner! Girl you are crushing these! Do you think it helps with you already being a pro jigsaw puzzler? I mean, clearly you are solving these pretty fast comparatively. Love your vids as always
