Absolutely good. The formal feel of Cage is simply fantastic. In the score there is no indication with which music the time courses are to be equipped, so the consistency of this interpretation (or should I say, this non-interpretation) is simply striking.

I often hear this about Cage. Why intellectual, or pseudo-intellectual? It seems rather anti-intellectual to me. No time for thought. Just crashes. Not much intellectual or, indeed, pseudo-intellectual about that. So, what is your real complaint?

@@teebeedahbow I don't see everything by Cage as pseudo intellectual trash. His prepared piano works are alright. I'm talking about a lot of his poorly crafted works like his Imaginary Landscape No. 5 which is posted here and other works like his Roaratorio. His Imaginary Landscape 5 is just lazy and crude garbage that people pretend to like because it makes them think they are more cultured. I think more people have to distinguish his better crafted works from his pseudo-intellectual junk because right now they are held as equal.

@@Electrasound Like I say, it seems rather anti-intellectual to me. Also, I don't think it is badly crafted at all. I think the proportions of the score are very articulate. You may not like the results (actually, I love Roaratorio, I think it really works), which is fair enough. But I really don't see the intellectual thing.This piece seems like creative wall head-banging to me, quite elegant head-banging, but not intellectual, by any means. I mean, lazy and crude are quite strong accusations, but how do they fit in with 'intellectual'. This piece seems raw and even primal to me. Beautifully at odds with the Verdi, in this recording.

Also, performing this on actual turntables, would be no small feat, and definitely worth trying with different recordings.
