On my 1972 B I replaced those same two switches without removing the steering wheel. The horn works off the center steering wheel button. There is an electrical contact that mounts with the wiper switch that rubs against a copper ring on the back of the steering wheel. Polishing this ring with steel wool, and smearing dielectric grease on it helped. Putting relays on all the light circuits brought back the dash lights to a usable level of illumination. A relay on the horns fixed an unreliable ground issue.
This is some great info! Thank you for sharing. In 1970 the horn does not work off of the steering wheel at all. This is why it had to be removed. The horn button is on the blinker lever (push it in).
what type of screws hold the plastic cover together im working on my wothers 78 midget and could get a Philips or flat head to grab anything dont want to damage the screws so thought i would ask.
I will be starting on an 80 MGB once my new shop is finished. Only 64k on it. But as yours the top leaves alot to be desired. I will have to replace part of the drivers floor board. The rest seems to be in good shape. No rust in any other areas. Possible v6 5spd conversion to double the hp.
I just found your videos today and I'm really enjoying your videos. I also have a 1970 MGB and I love it. My emergency brake no longer works on mine. I would love to see you do a video on replacing the emergency brake cable! I've got mine on order and I'd like to see the process before I tackle it. Keep it up!
you probably dont give a shit but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an instagram account? I somehow forgot the login password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me!
@Braydon Nathanael I really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. I see it takes quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Hey. Nice vid! I just ordered a ew signal assembly for my 76 B. Wondering if you think I could remove the plastic housing and the switches to replace the signal without removing the wheel. I don't have a puller, and despite the fact that it may be more difficult due to the wheel being in my way, is it possible? Thanks. Josh
@@BrailsfordsRides there was some paint yes. Lol. Washed it with dish soap and then 0000 steel wool for the metal and then lots of paint and then three layers of clear coat
Simple green is the best, for grease, oil, and well just about everything. Without it, I would have not bought my 72b last year. The thought of using anything else, well, just too toxic, messy.
I just got a 1970 mbg, what is the red light in the middle of dash and green light. My red one is always on. PLEASE ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
The red one is your charging system. It should go away shortly after starting as long as the charging system is working. The other light is a blue one that is the indicator that your brights are on.
@@BowserBuilds thanks for your quick reply,I love your videos. Mine doesn't go away it dims and comes back up sporadically. I'll check the charging system. Also my temperature gauge and my gas gauge aren't working. Where would one start looking for troubleshooting. Greatly appreciated and cheers from Arizona. Thanks to your video I was confident to repair my blinker.
@@1982pantro the fuel gauge I would start with the sending unit. Mine was rusted and wouldn’t work. Should be in the side of the tank passenger side. The temp gauge I would start with the sending unit on the block and trace backwards
@@BowserBuilds Thank you a million times buddy. I'll get started on it right away,I love my 1970 mgb,I don't know much about them but thanks to people like you I'm becoming more knowledgeable. It only has 63000 miles on it, running a little rough and smells like gas with little smoke. But I just love the little thing.
Got a '73... Enjoying the info from your work...
Thank you. I have three more videos coming soon

Really well done editing! No wastingvanyone time, direct, lot of info. Thumbs up dude
Thank you! Means a lot
One note left out, make sure your steering wheel straight on so won’t have cancel blinker issues.
Nice job. Looking forward to more video on the MGB repairs.
Thank you! Really appreciate the feedback
@@BowserBuilds hi I'm your friends daughter
Good video! Btw, my horn switch has always been in the center..... (1973 MGB).
how did you polish up the cover to the switches so nice
Painted it and clear coated it
I need to install a dimmer switch in my 1980 MGB. Do you have any videos relating to that?
I do not, the dimmer switch on mine is on the steering shroud. I’d be happy to help you if you reach out to me on Instagram

On mine they were Phillips head but I had to drill them out as they were rusty

@Braydon Nathanael It worked and I now got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my account :D
You did a good job on that steering wheel.
Thank you. I used 0000 steel wool and a metal polish on the metal parts then painted and multiple layers of clear for the center cap and shroud
@@BowserBuilds that is awesome I need to hit mine with the Steele wool like you did. Thank you.
What kind of oil did you use on the steering wheel cover?
To make it shine again? I painted it and covered in clear coat

I know on mine the wheel needed to be removed as the housing actually goes under the wheel. So it has to be removed so you don’t damage that plastic.
Ok ive got to know what did you use to clean everything
On the MG?
Nvm paint lol

Any idea where can I get a new MGB 73 COWL, steering column?
I would check with moss motors or your eBay
Moss has them I believe
