Some Chuck fans mean well but they're misinformed. The song "Johnny Be Good" was inspired by and written about his fellow musician and legendary jazz/ blues piano player Johnnie Johnson. Johnny's name often obscured in overlooked in Chuck Berry's legendary story over the years, but Johnny was considered by many back in the day to be one of the greatest Blues and early Rock pianists. Many of the other greats from that era worked with Johnny over the years also. Chuck used to tell people he wrote it as sort of a tribute to Johnnie, only he changed it from being about a piano player to guitar player. Back in the day Chuck would sometimes explain all this to some of his audiences and point to Johnnie sitting at the piano explaining "wrote this for my man Johnnie who was with me from the very beginning".
Haha, I was thinking don’t take your eyes off him cause half the joy of Chuck Berry is watching him move! And he didn’t even do his signature move in this one. Gotta do some Little Richard now, Tutti Fruiti or Good Golly Miss Molly.
Yep. Richard Pennimen . . . Little Richard, had a later album called "Rill Thing." his best of the best. Great band for an out of this world singer. Also don't forget Jerry Lee Lewis, even w/his odd attraction for his young lover.
@@lesliesylvan sorry about that. It's hard to find out and know that he did stuff like that. Here's a little story for you about Little Richard and my Uncle Bill. My father was a huge music fan who died in 1976 when I was 6. So I would ask my uncle about my dad because they grew up in Philadelphia and were best friends. They were of age to see all these guys in their prime. My dad & him saw greats of early rock n roll. One day I asked my uncle about Little Richard and he told me that his father hated Little Richard. So he told me that he had to hid his record collection from his father. He had 2 drawers of records: one he loved and the other full of records his father approved of. He was only allowed to play the Pat Boone versions of Little Richard songs in the house while his father was home. So I asked him which ones did he like better. He said "Who do you think?". You take care and stay safe 😷.
And by the way THIS MAN is where angus young ( AC/DC’S lead guitaris) got his funny moves from chuck was his idol and probably the biggest influence on him 🤘
Do his other great tunes as well. He has a bunch, My Ding A Ling, Maybellene, Rock N Roll Music, School Day, Roll Over Beethoven, and many more. He is an icon.
The song was really about Johnnie Johnson, the piano player, who's band Chuck tried to join, eventually did, and took it over. "A piano wouldn't fit in a gunny sack", so Chuck changed it to a guitar for this song. Check out the album/cd "Johnnie Be Bad" by Johnnie Johnson.
When I was a kid in the 70s my daddy would never play the radio when we were in the car but sometimes he would sing. Johnny B. Goode is the one I remember best. ❤
Chuck Berry was definitely a rock-n-roller. This was one of his most famous songs. Many call him the father of rock-n-roll, and you can see why. He's famous for his moves on stage, especially his "skipping" with the guitar across the stage.
Hail hail, the true King of Rock n Roll indeed! Berry was a fine entertainer and musical hellcat in his day. He set the standard for many guitarists to come. Most of the bands from the 60s British Invasion went to the school of Chuck Berry and Little Richard, the self professed "architect of rock n roll". Other great Berry tunes to checkout, and there are dozens, are "Maybelline", "C'est La Vie- You Never Can Tell", and "Back in the USA"!
I met him many times at the Alton belle casino. My Uncle who just passed in September took me to see him and Bo Diddley. I have a 2 dollar bill signed by them both. My Uncle listened to Nothing but Motown and blues and soul. I thank him for that.
I have my daddy (RIP) to thank for introducing me to Chuck Berry's music. Despite people of that day trying to ban his music from radio, people loved his music, including my dad! ❤️
Chuck Berry wrote the book, all the rest of y'all just readin' it. Thank you thank you thank you for reacting to this amazing artist 🤩💥 also, if I were in the audience I could never sit still I'd be dancing and making a fool💃
The myth, the legend, the man, the grandfather of rock...the great Chuck Berry. The world was not ready and didn't know what hit it. He was phenomenal! Absolutely mesmerizing on stage! You can't look away. AMAZING Needless to say I'm a fan. ❤️🙏😇

Chuck Berry was the original swivel hips, He was prominent years before Elvis. Chuck was the originator, Elvis, the imitator. Chuck Berry had more moves than a bottle of ex lax!! Ted Nugent said his biggest influences in guitar were Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley and Buddy Guy.
The song 'My Ding-a-ling,' according to Berry himself, was supposedly written as a jingle for a commercial for a kid's toy bell. Somehow I, and I think most people, doubt this version of the story, but that's what Berry said about the song. As for 'Johnny B. Goode.' It's just an imaginary story about a great guitarist who rose to the top in spite of all the hurdles he had to overcome with no education. Here are 5 songs I think you should check out from the true king of Rock N' Roll, Chuck Berry. 5. Nadine 4. Memphis, Tennessee 3. Havana Moon 2. Thirty Days 1. Maybellene

"Ding a ling"-(a live version,) comes up on my playlist occasionally. Very funny! Besides those songs listed, I like "You Can't Catch Me" and "Brown Eyed Handsome Man" and "You Never Can Tell"
MORE Chuck Berry!!!!!!! Both Chuck Berry & Little Richard can carry the mantle "Father of Rock & Roll". Look for their old black & white live TV or movie performances. Both Chuck Berry & LIttle Richard were blessed with long lives. There are Legacy performances out there, but age alters the voice & stamina. As you can see, Chuck Berry's stamina was phenomenal. He was such a show-manship!!! Chuck Berry: "No Particular Place to Go" , "Roll Over Beethoven", "Sweet Little Sixteen". Little Richard: "Tutti Frutti", "Long Tall Sally", "Good Golly Miss Molly", "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On" Chuck Berry continued his career for many decades. His later works are also worth reacting to. But, his style changes as he gets older. I think you should see the history of Rock & Roll.
I will forever be jealous of my father and my uncle. They were of the right age and in the right city to have seen Chuck Berry back in his prime. The two of them saw Chuck, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bo Diddly, James Brown, et al. They got to see all the greats of early rock and/or roll lol. Chuck could play! Glad you enjoyed him. There is a great Rockumentary about him and his life called "Hail, Hail, Rock and Roll" (not to be confused with his song). MR. Berry EARNED his place in Rock History. Very much one of the Godfathers of Rock, & a Definitive/Dedicated Rock God. I regret that I have only ONE like to give for your reaction to one of the Rock's GREATS EVER. If you ever watched "Back To The Future 1" that is the song Michael J Fox's character played at the prom before he Metaled out on it. Entertaining watch.
Hey just so you know Half and Jai are showing their support for you by wearing your shirts! I gave them a big! 👏👏👏 Classic song! My mom and dad used to dance to this! Good memories!
Chuck Berry is The KING of Rock and Roll, Not Elvis, Chuck wrote Many Many More Rock and Roll songs, Hands Down, also Kieth Richards Made a Fortune covering Chuck's Playing Style, Due to Love and Sound of Chuck's Playing, Rock On,..
Up early listening to my man Mr V.! I can't wait to see you on the stage doing stand up comedy. Write you some good material & start out at some places that have a free mic night...you will blow them away😂😂😂🤗🤗🤗💗💗💗 I call em like I see em & you have that gift to make people laugh😍😍😍

This is where the line between a musician and an entertainer is. A musician plays the music, and well at that, but an entertainer goes the extra mile for presentation and showmanship. And the best entertainers, regardless of medium, are the ones you can tell are enjoying themselves. When they're having fun, it shows, and it spreads to the audience.
The true King of Rock and Roll! This is Chuck Berry.. My Ding a Ling was a novelty song... This is the foundation of popular music to this day.. Little Queenie is my fave!

I agree, I hate it when they refer Elvis Presley as the king of rock and roll when Elvis was a country singer
I think his mantel is "Father of Rock & Roll". He does share that mantel with Little Richard, though.
White guy here.. he was better than Elvis.
"Roll Over Beethoven" was another classic of his!

If you ever watched "Back To The Future 1" that is the song Michael J Fox's character played at the prom before he Metaled out on it. Entertaining watch.
Always excited to see a new video from you.
Hey just so you know Half and Jai are showing their support for you by wearing your shirts! I gave them a big! 👏👏👏 Classic song! My mom and dad used to dance to this! Good memories!
You are witnessing the birth of rock-n-roll!!!

His talking about the piano player in his band here shown in this video but he based it on a guitar to fit the gurney sack line
He had "THE MOVES".
remember waking up to my dear late Dad blasting Chuck on the weekends, haven't stopped rockin' since. Man made a lot of good music :)

AMAZINGLY Talented Man !!!
He was a true Star 👍❤❤❤❤
This is where the line between a musician and an entertainer is. A musician plays the music, and well at that, but an entertainer goes the extra mile for presentation and showmanship. And the best entertainers, regardless of medium, are the ones you can tell are enjoying themselves. When they're having fun, it shows, and it spreads to the audience.
The true King of Rock and Roll! This is Chuck Berry.. My Ding a Ling was a novelty song... This is the foundation of popular music to this day.. Little Queenie is my fave!
Great song and reaction. Saw Half and Jai rocking your gear earlier.
I’m so glad that this song was such a big part of the movie Back to the Future. Chuck was before my time, but I discovered him after I saw the movie

Another legend a true artist. He was rock and roll, phenomenal . He is why a lot of the future legends picked up a guitar.
This is why Marvin Barry was calling Chuck Barry in back to the future while Marty Mcfly was playing this song.
Here you go. The REAL Chuck Berry!
Now look up Michael J.Fox playing Johnny B Good in Back to the Future... One of the judges on the panel in the movie was Huey Lewis from Huey Lewis & the news. Fun facts. They say in the movie Michael J.Fox went back in time and Chuck Barry heard him play.... Lol silly fun movie with the greatest Chuck Barry Riff ever!!
