Personal Injury Compensation - How to get More

If you have an accident, many people are concerned about how quickly can they get their money. One of the things that you shouldn’t do with a personal injury claim is try and rush the settlement.
Remember that if you’ve settled after 6 month’s time, all you will get is something based upon your injury resolving in 12 month’s time. The only way you’ll find out whether you still have symptoms in 12 months, or 2 years or 3 years, is to wait that length of time.
If you have whiplash, somebody’s ran in the back of your car and your head’s gone back in two, you have a claim for whiplash, and that will give you problems. I know, I had whiplash, and trust me, it’s not pleasant, you know when you’ve got it. However, after 6 months, it was hurting and the Doctor said he expected that it would resolve in a year.
After a year, it was still hurting, and the Doctor, the Osteopath, the Orthopaedic Surgeon, they said,
“It will be okay in another 6 months.”
After another 6 months, it wasn’t okay, I still have symptoms. Three years later, I still have symptoms. So the initial diagnosis and the initial offer was based upon,
“The symptoms will be okay in 12 months, it would have resolved.”
And it wasn’t, and it wasn’t resolved 3 years later. And now, even 10 years later, I still have symptoms of whiplash. So, the actual claim, the actual payout, is based upon what your symptoms are going to be like in years to come, not now. So, don’t accept an offer for personal injury compensation based upon an injury now that’s ‘gonna’ resolve in a short period of time. Wait to see if it resolves and then settle it.
