My husband just said “thank goodness for good people who put together these games when it’s hard to find!” I’m new to baseball and I love the mix of audio-only with video, so thank you so much!
TY for this upload ,I remember the Mets just not having enough offense to beat Oakland and overusing Matlock A one armed Rusty Staub , Wayne Garrett and Don Hahn . Maybe if they hadn't traded Nolan Ryan never mind ill drive myself nuts
1973 NY Mets my favorite Team of all time my first season knowing all the players in the league in 1972 I moved to Pennsylvania and didn't the kids in class were Pirate fans I got beat for not knowing Gil Hodges was Dead 1973 was so sweet We were in last place all year Tom Seaver was the big brother I never had that's how tickled I was when he got those 5 strikeouts in a row in this game
In each, next 2 seasons (1974/5, back-to-back) A's would be playing road games in former Shea Stadium 🏟, Queens, N.Y. City, N.Y. against Yanks, while "Bronx Bombers"' reg. ballpark, former original Yankee Stadium in Bronx in N.Y. City, N.Y. was undergoing partial re-building/renovations
I was born the day before this game. The first home run of my lifetime was hit by... Wayne Garrett. Willie Mays' career batting average in my lifetime is .000. Not an auspicious start for li'l me.

The game of the series that got away from the Mets. Shame that Seaver couldnt hold on late in the game with a two run lead.
I think the Mets blew a few chances to score in this game Seaver was great
Dick Williams will become Yankees mgr 2 months later , but was vetoed by Bowie Kuhn
