The most important WS victory in the 3 year reign of the A's. They won a game that Seaver started, survived a near disastrous first inning by Catfish, came back from a 2 run deficit, and by winning assured that the WS would at least go back to Oakland regardless of how the next two games in NY turned out.
Same here, only I converted to the DODGERS. I did root hard for the A's to beat the Dodgers in '74 WS to complete their 3-peat. I abandoned the A's after Charlie O Finley completely fucked up that team by selling off great players. My conversion to Dodgers was Tommy Lasorda's first year managing after Walter Alston retired.
Because this game went extra innings, could it be possible that NBC was protesting the idea of a "future" 👻 runner (since it was October)? #PreemptiveStrike #YouCantScriptOctober
MLB in the '70s was magnificent , The Oakland A's were World Series Champions '72, '73, '74 ...., Cincinnati Reds in '75, '76 ...., New York Yankees in '77, '78 and not until the 90s were there another back to back WS champions .... like in '92, '93 Toronto Bluejays and the New York Yankees '98, '99, & 2000 🌟👍
Catfish got off to a rough start, but as great pitchers always do he settle down, and Seaver was a top 10 pitcher of all time. Have no idea how the Mets made it to the Series and could have won it, that lineup scared no one.
Evenly matched, except for one glaring difference, that being a middle of the order power hitting run producer. Thank you Mets, for passing up on Reggie on the first pick of 1966 draft. One of the biggest blunders in the history of sport.

This was Yogi's second World Series as a manager he lost in 1964 with the Yankees in seven games and unfortunately lost in seven games almost exactly nine years later. His record as a manager in the post season is 9-10 not bad! At least he beat the Big Red Machine!

The only time in those 3 WS that they were behind (games) was against the Mets.
Yogi Berra had 10 World Series Rings . the most of any player in history
I was in high school and went to all the games at Shea Stadium. Still pissed off, the Mets should’ve won this World Series!
On the flip side, I’m still mad the 1986 Red Sox didn’t win the series because Bill Buckner made a disastrous error in fielding.
