I bought this almost a year ago. Its been strung with 13-56 ever since and so far, its holding up pretty well. However, I do take good care of it. Always in the case, always cleaned after gigging/using, etc. However, I think I’m going down to 12-52’s for the reason that I am overdriving the top wood too hard and I feel like there’s no more headroom anymore. Sitka isnt the wood to get if you’re looking for headroom. That would be Adirondack. The only guitar that beat a Gibson J-45 in the store I went to when I bought this guitar is the Eastman E10SS. It has Adirondack top and is very nice.
@@BardOfTheSixString Hi, thanks for your reply. I just bought guitar yesterday. To be honest, it was your play that encouraged me to finally go for this sigma. Otherwise I will probably go for a epiphone j45. I am very happy with my jm sg45. It really sounds sweet and perfect for strumming!
@@daniel7385 dont get me wrong. I love my JM SG45. Im not going to sell mine unless I have a true upgrade which would be a real Gibson J45. But then again, they’re so inconsistent, its gonna take me time to find the right one. But I wont trade this for the sake of upgrading to a more expensive model. Especially mine has opened up significantly that the highs are very warm and sweet, and lows are rich and full.
@@daniel7385 the Gibson J-45. One can sound great, the other, not so. For example, when I bought my JM-SG45, there were two J-45’s in the store that I tried. Both of which sounded decent, but were beat by an Eastman E10SS and my JM-SG45 actually came the closest to the tone of the J-45. Thats why I bought it. I’m still on a J-45 journey and I believe Id have to really play each and every one I can get my hands on so I can be sure it is the right one for me.
You will need to tighten the truss rod by turning it clockwise. The truss rod screw is located inside the guitar where the neck joins the body. Too much will make your neck bend backwards. Id suggest look up “guitar set up” tutorials by stewmac and “truss rod adjustment” videos. I do my own set ups and adjustments and if you’re not confident to do this, better have someone do a set up on your guitar.
I just bought one used. You still loving it? Sure sounds good
Yeah man, I use it every week in acoustic gigs. The guitar has opened up a lot now.
Hi, I was just wondering if putting the 13-56 strings hurt the guitar in long term

@@BardOfTheSixString Got it. But what did you mean by saying "they are so inconsistent " which guitar dud you mean?

Hi, how did you keep your guitar neck straight? My action is horrible now
