I do like the new color variations he gets when he does show up (purple is cute but the brown Chococat is actually super precious). I was always stunned when Chococat ranked so low in the global polls! At least on the US Sanrio site he seems to get included in a decent amount of merch so that's a nice consolation prize. I agree with another comment below that he would go so great with Mewkledreamy! The black/pink aesthetic is too good to pass up.
Chococat has been my fav since i was little. I saw him in a Sanrio section at a store and I was immediately obsessed. I always played with him with my Hello Kitty. I totally agree he has a little crush on Kitty, and I ship them x3 (No offense, Daniel!) He's my lil nerd boy, and I'll love him forever. I hope he gets more popular in Japan again!

Usahana isn't discontinued! Why do people keep saying this!? That rumor is from over a year ago. There's so many projects they currently are using her for. Fragaria Knights being one of them. And a number of merchandise is already being sold for that. Her knight is one of the first announced and to appear in the story. Also, just like how Hello Kitty has Dear Daniel, My Melody has a "love interest" for her in Mariland(the world she is canonically from). Flat, the blue mouse seen in a number of her merchandise, has always been her "romantic" counterpart. Similarly, Kuromi has Baku, the purple grey flying eggplant. I have merch with pairs being shown with hearts and the word "love". Not to mention they dedicated 4 years of an anime establishing this. Although if we go by that My Melody and Kuromi like the same human guy but the unrelated-to-the-anime merch always use Flat and Baku for romance stuff. Either way, Chococat likely just had a drop in sales at some point, so they are cycling him out to build up his return. They do that sometimes with the less popular mascots. Look at Pocchocao. And Chococat is still being used for a bunch of collabs. So it's not like his merch isn't there. He got to be the Winged Dragon of Ra last year during the Yu-Gi-Oh collab.
My sister loves Chococat, but sadly none of our Sanrio store locations actually have him :( Though I'm still trying to find him because he's so cute! As for shipping....Maybe Usa Hana since they're both uncommon in popularity? I personally think they'd be cute.
