We needed mentors like you to give attempts with the right strategy and mindset and also to think cautiously before spending huge amounts on these coachings. THANK YOU Sir! Absolutely, it’s a hell loop, especially if you lose exam for 5-10 marks in mains exam, you get perception that you are made for it, so let’s invest one more year. But we all know that lakhs are lined up for one mark. And again a little lost consistency, a little self doubt, a little fatigue will ruin even that year.

This is not the story of mains alone. Their prelims test series are also absurd. I scored 48.32, 48.3 and 29.6 marks respectively in three tests of vision abhyas series 2023. And scored 85+ marks in actual upsc exam despite a tough paper this year. Only bad thing happened with me that I couldn't clear csat because I was scoring sufficient marks in test series easily and took it lightly. 😢 Thank you for challenging the core of the coaching industry.

I met a person recently who had written 2 mains. He'd get above 300/500 in PSIR mains test series with almost all coaching institutes. And in the actual exam he scored 160/500 in optional. It's been 2 years since he quit his preparation and picked up a private job. He still has no idea what went wrong !!

i support your view but, Paper was current affairs based and mostly from newspapers. Cutoff doesn't go 200 out of 200. Questions were really tough but more than GS 1 , GS 2 is the determining factor in this year prelims. So even a student either from Rajendra Nagar or any town/Village, just simply following any newspaper with clear concepts from ncert and some standard books are able to score around 80-90 in GS 1 which is sufficient for qualifying. The Era of prelims test series propaganda has been destroyed by UPSC,bWhich will definitely benifit the students who can't afford such heavy price test series of various institutions.

Agreeing with every single thing you've said here. Kudos for coming up with this video for saving aspirants' precious time and hard earned money, and even saving them from the blind trust which probably each one of us did when we were in the initial aspirant's phase before becoming educators.
Apart from the money I've wasted, one major flaw I found was ( specially with a particular institute) that irrespective of how well you address the demand of the question, the feedback would be based on the model answer only. This is such a basic thing to understand that if everyone will write as per the model answer only, where will the uniqueness lie ?
The whole idea of test series these days have become only a pseudo satisfactory factor with absolutely no emphasis on what's actually needed , ie the demand of the question and an approximate word limit.

I kid you not, this was absolutely perspective altering! You need to start your own thing for those who
    1. Can’t afford those coaching institutes
    2. Need actual guidance.
    3. Have no clue how to go about structuring their answers.
So majority of us. And even if some of us are aware about structuring, the fact that you give it so straightforward, is something that everyone should look forward to and it’s quite refreshing!
    Where can I enrol?🙈

Even I have not taken any single coaching's test series for answer writing (not even for prelims also). Instead I am planning to get my answer copies evaluated by University professor. Earlier I was in doubt whether I should approach him or not but now I am confident that this will be the best option.

I rarely push like button for any video on RUclips, let alone about commenting. I have discussion with many people that there's something which is quite enigmatic and mysterious about this UPSC CS Exam which only those who have cleared, do understand. That "something" you have described that why if one person clears it everybody surrounding him and giving decent effort for this exam also clears it quite easily.
You have touched the right note of serious aspirants who are striving to improve their Mains Score and thereby their Ranks here. So very well done sir, salute to such courage and honesty. I would try to make u remember that u have gained "TRUST", so with great power comes the great responsibility. Hope u wont take ur steps back and would keep guiding and mentoring aspirants. Congratulations and huge Respect!!

This is absolutely true.. After giving 2 mains and working day in and out for 2022 attempt, my marks didn't increase at all. I joined mains test series and used to get 95+ whereas in actual mains I got 80-90.Now I am getting the idea where I am lagging, and what needs to be improved
    Thanks for the video!
