It’s easy to forget that Jerry Goldsmith was just as capable of writing majestic, more traditional scores such as _Rudy_ alongside these positively crazy scores for movies such as _Planet of the Apes._ Was there anything he couldn’t do? I’m not convinced there was.
This is almost like a precursor to Soarin over California. JG seemed to streamline a lot of these scores in the 1990's almost to 2 staves, which shows his mastery of getting the meaning across with fewest notes as possible. Thanks for posting! Would love a cue from the Challenge Score, that has some pretty interesting effects and orchestration.
Very beautiful analysis. It's incredible how composers like Jerry can write music for pretty much anything. Some day, I would love to see you do a new version of your analysis of Air Force Ones's Hijacking, now that OmniMusicPublishing released the official scorebook for that movie.
Can't help but hear the similarities between this and the football section of Forest Gump. I wonder if it inspired FG a little? Perhaps even used as temp...
@DavidMcCaulley Can do one on Predator 2 - End Title, RoboCop 2 - End Title, The Matrix Reloaded - Burly Brawl, 11th Doctor Who theme, and the DW theme. I would like to see some analysis.
Notre Dame vs. Ohio State who you got?
Please.
OSU

Goldsmith is a legend. This cue & Tryouts are my favorite from Rudy. Amazing score.
This sort of feeling in a movie doesn’t exist anymore
One of my favorite Goldsmith scores!! Excellent reduction!
Great job on this!
Maybe, the best sports-movie score of all time. Outstanding job to this great score reduction.

How about doing the final game from Hoosiers?
Great idea! But I doubt there will be any score from this one.. As far as my past searchings went
I would prefer to score this adding two guitars in foreground with that top gun sound
Alexander Courage, Star Trek!
Too many notes😅
