      @Jamie Redwood practice heart rate variability, as Forrest teaches in his videos, mentally chant om in the chakras with feeling and awareness, think of anyone or anything that you love the most in life, deeply associate that love within your heart, continue to do the above over and over again. Recognize we are in a process of purifying the heart. You are not blocked. Every being loves and is love. We just need to deepen and widen our love. Deep love is bliss. I hope that helps.

    Dear Forrest! Thank you for your brilliant work about Kriya. I got initiation from one disciple of Paramahamsa Hariharananda. It helped me much to understand what Kriya Yogis want. They want to find a short way to be in Samadhi. For me it is necessary to immerse into matter, this means to be full incarnated here on our earth. I try to bring spirit consciousness into the energy of the body and into all our cells. So it is possible to scoop the inner light out of the center of our heart and let it radiate. This energetic process helps to be fulfilled from higher conceseness and be embedded in it. For me it wouldn't make sense to incarnate here on earth to find a quick way to leave. Coming in resonance with the long deep flowing breath helps also to be fully aware, inside of our self. Excuse my bad english!

    Your talk of carbon reflects the principles of buteyko breathing although they refer specifically to carbon dioxide as needed for oxygen to land where it needs to. Very validating for me. I'm just beginning and having major trouble with the breathing because I cough and choke every time I even attend to the breath. I will keep showing up until it changes. I also have some concern because my heart beat often moves into bradycardia. I'm convinced, though, that this is the path I choose. Thank you so very much. Your teachings are making yoga safe for me which it has not been in the past. My gratitude if boundless!

Only whenever I read a book about yoga or watch your or other related youtube videos, I recall what my first yoga teacher told me. yoga is 1% theory and 99% practice. so instead of listening and watching, I could meditate or do kriya... hard choice :)... and your great videos make it even harder 🙏🏻🙏🏻

    Since I am very partial to Paramahansa Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi, I began my reading with Dasguptaji's book on Kriya Yoga.
    I'm glad I did (just got started less than one third of the way). To me, it is like an enhanced Autobiography of a Yogi. It talks very lovingly about Priya Nath's life before he became Swami Sri Yukteshwar. (there are many vignettes of Priya Nath's life. I loved it!) Then it delves into his book "Holy Science".
    Next on my reading list: re-read Holy Science, then move on to Kriya Stories. :-)

      It is a pranayama, but the overemphasis on hyperventilation really worries me for some people. Hello Forrest .. a beginner's question - when the book talks about offering the prana to apana and vice versa .. it says the body decay is prevented. Why is that all the yogis have their bodies decayed including Lahiri ji and students. Is it that they do not care .. in many other hath yogic books there are references to having a youthful body by following specific practices but then people following them are getting old. What may I be missing?

    • @ForrestKnutson
      @ForrestKnutson  4 года назад

      Neil, that's a great question. It is talking about arresting decay in that moment. In the Autobiography of a Yogi (AY) Yogananda mentions that the yogi eventually sees the breath as a product of his (word oriented) mind. That work in the background is like the idle in your car. You've stopped, but the engine keeps humming. By entering the Right brain, that hum slows way down, and so decay becomes suspended in that moment. ...Then of course the yogi comes out of that state. Does that make sense? So, the overall life span of the yogi is, we hope, prolonged.

    • @neildevrat6570
      @neildevrat6570 4 года назад

      @@ForrestKnutsonthank you ... can we say the same applies to other yogic techniques (usually Hath yogic) that talk about the practitioner becoming 16 year old or even 8 year old in terms of digestion and hard body.. or are they just metaphors .. though Baba ji and many other Nath yogis seem to have attained it.

    Excellent video! I really enjoyed it and it answered questions I had on my mind. When I do Om Japa, I can't feel the prana along my spine, why is that? I can't feel it going up and down when imagining it so. However, when I do Sadhguru's Shambhavi meditation, I feel the prana go from the first chakra all the way to my 3rd eye, although there is a lot of blockage in my lower chakras I feel. But the question I wanna ask is, why don't I feel this with Om Japa? My kundalini is not "awakening" when doing this.
    Since I'm short on money right now, are there no miracles in the original autobiography of a yogi? I always thought all the miracles were real because ever since discovering kundalini for myself, nothing surprises me anymore about this world, I've experienced the non physical, so things like Mahiri Lahasaya did like showing his body in 2 different locations at the same time, doesnt surprise me. But are those things false?
    Thanks for always answering my long questions haha!

    • @ForrestKnutson
      @ForrestKnutson  4 года назад +5

      Rasmus great questions!
      I see kundalini in a very different light than almost anyone else. I see it as a reflection of the brain. That's what Lahiri Baba's picture of the chakra system is all about. It's all a reflection, and the feeling of energy moving is too. As we preempt the natural processes of these projections, we become more and more aware of what is usually unconscious. That experience is what we call kundalini. So, there's no need to feel it during OM Japa. Let the OM Japa do it's work so that you find yourself in the medulla. That is what it is all about. ...The way I presented this, people may think it's a totally different book. That was a mistake in my presentation. It was already fantastical by the time it was 1st published. ....Yes, the electrical world, and the deep brain world, are totally real! And that is the core truth I was talking about. And it is glorious.

      @@ForrestKnutson Wow this is way out and hard to understand. So you are saying that our mind makes up our chakra systems, and that they are not real? • @ForrestKnutson
      @ForrestKnutson  4 года назад +5

      @@swedish_sadhguru3854 it gets really deep, doesn't it? It's not that they aren't real, it's just that they aren't a physical thing. They are as real as every other perception you have every day. And they are projected into the body from the brain along the central nervous system. Which includes the parasympathetic and the sympathetic systems. ... so yes, depending on what are we are holding psychologically, that material is what is projected into the chakras.... So if you have a negative emotion, you will find it in one of your chakras. For example if you have heartache that will be in the heart chakra. If you have jealousy that will be in the second chakra.
