Part 1 video:
• Genesis Coupe Tablet /...
Cleanest radio and tablet install I’ve seen so far great work
The detail in getting the carbon fiber lines to match up was the icing on the cake.. I love people who take pride in their work as you clearly do bother. 🤘
🧝탄소가 나오면 🇰🇷 난리난다
All I have to say... you are a genius! Beautiful work!
Just got a 2015 Genesis Coupe 3.8 base model and I was curious how to pull this off. A simple search and your content popped right up. Hell yeah dude!!!
Very nice! I've seen many blacked out cars and I'm not a fan because nobody actually does it right or I should say the majority just start sticking black everywhere but you did it right. Everything looks immaculate. One of the nicest Genesis I've seen on RUclips ✓
Sick ❤ I love this set up and it blew my mind, great job 🙌
Awesome job Tim, I don't even have my Genny anymore but I still enjoy your content. You're a natural at this stuff. Keep it up!
Very nice! 3 questions.
1. Are you able to see your A/C modes and options after removing the blue screen?
2. Does audio play throughout the car for both the stereo and tablet?
3. How about volume control for the tablet?
I would like to know the same
Holy mother of mods! It looks sick af! Great job man!
Are you still able to use the auto climate change? Does the temperature controls appear on either screen? If not, wouldn't it be impossible to use auto climate after replacing the top screen?
I too am curious about this. I wanted to do this, but the climate crap is on screen Dx
I'm curious about this as well... I'm curious what does and doesn't work anymore.
Wow, months later , no reply. Great channel bro! Lol
I covered the climate controls in the video right after this one.
GENIUS! Looks incredible my friend!
You did a great job!! This looks so clean and sleek. Love it!!!
This also can be done with the factory radio if you don’t want the aftermarket head unit
This is great!!! I'm going to save this for my gen build! AWESOME!
Thank you bro!
Does the tablet allow you to also see the climate controls? I've seen so many mods of people taking out the factory infotainment system and replace with a blue-backlit lcd to put in a double-din unit below, and it drives me nuts. I think the tablet up above is WAY better. Nice job, dude!
Interior upgrade👍🔥🔥🔥 great job looks real good can't wait to get my genesis
Wow great job on the penmanship and detail, huge differences. Now I wanna do my Genny like that thanks for the videos.
DUDE!!.... LOOKS AMAZING.. If I did not have the navigation and all that..I would be ordering the same stuff... wow that looks great!!
bro fucking amazing! Now i really want a gen coupe again ❗️
Thank you so much for this video man. It answered a lot of questions for me
dude that looks great. Im for sure going to have to do this.
I know this is an old video but how about the climate controls? Were you able to get those settings like vent selection, temperature setting and stuff like that on the tablet? If not how was it using them blind?
my left ear really enjoyed this
Wow absolutely beautiful set up!! Great videos, great installation. Huge thumbs up on this video
Hey I tried installing my Pioneer double dim and the audio is muted, did you got this ploblem as well? I looked about this problem and a few people have resolved it in different methods but for me nothing have worked, also notice the airbag light
I LOVEEE IT BRO!! Thanks for uploading a video like this!!!!!!!
God damn I need to do this. Love you matched the carbon properly and I hate glue on shit like that normally.
I really need to find out if I can do this to my premium 2015 3.8.
Great videos! I really enjoyed learning from your experience
hey is the wiring diagram the same with the sony din receiver? just colour match?
thanks buddy
Hello, quick question i ordered through amazon the radio bezel but the difference is mine is only hazard button in the middle not along with the passenger air bag button. I have a coupe 2014 3.8. Im trying to search but i cannot find. Maybe you can help me to find where can i get . Thanks
Great walkthrough, thank you! So, are are the climate control losses only because of the tablet? Would I be able to use the metra dash kit to install a double din head unit without interfering with that? Would be nice to pick up nav but I can deal without the tablet if I have to
Also, did you sort out the steering controls yet? One commenter said he got it working but I see adapters for sale on amazon, just want to know if we need to purchase one up front or not
THIS IS SICKKK this video was so helpful i can't wait to do it to my genny (:
same here
Can we get an actual component list? I don't see an Anker hub or the exact wire used for the powering of the tablet.
is the tablet above would work for 2010s? since i saw many videos already a tablet in replace of the radio just for the gps music
Awesome detail in the vid Tim congrats bro looks dope
That is a great looking install, love it!
Can you still see your heating controls and fan speed or is that all out the window?
I
Great video like always.. I did have a question, how many wire were u not able to match up. I’m working my my harness but there is 2 wires I have pair up?
Hey Tim just a quick question. On your 70-7304 Metra harness, where do I splice the brown reverse wire and the pink brake wire, or did you just cap them off and disregard. You have done the best vid for install so far. Thanks bro.
I just capped them off and didn't use them.
@@VehicleEvolution thanks so much for getting back with me. I figured it out also hooked pink blue to SW1 and ground next to it to ground as per Metra instruction, I do have steering wheel control. Hope this helps you.
William Earl what color is sw1
This is beautiful.
Going to make a video next month for this project🙏
I'm guessing that you can play audio from the Samsung tablet to the double din? Such as Spotify etc other then that what other purposes does the tablet serve I know you have an OB2 adapter for an application but other then that ? Any others
The question that I have is did your tablet ever die? And if so did you find a way around it?
Do you know of any double din kits for a BKII genesis coupe with the navigation option? I have a 2013 3.8 track with the navi. My center dash is set up a little but different than yours.
I'm definitely doing this to my GC!
Can you show us how you are now controlling the ac/heat modes now ?
Im actually getting a 2013 2.0t soon and was wondering if I can do this but not worry about the tablet and just keep the small screen up there but a nice Pioneer headunit under it? Do I just do the steps you mentioned in the video but omit the ones with installing the tablet or is there a way to make things easier for me and/or to skip certain steps? Thanks ahead of time
You'll love the car when you get it! Just follow all the steps up to the tablet point and you should be good.
Have you had any problems with the tablet battery over heating
only problem I would be worry about having this in NYC is thieves breaking into my car and stealing both of them and do damage to gen and dash.
Very true
It's tuff in NYC the tickets are crazy. And the road conditions are pretty messed up too.
sick set up bro, do you think I could fit in an 8 inch galaxy tablet without cutting up the mounts?
I did the tablet modification yesterday and today the table is dead. I have switched over to a different power source, other than the USB supplied from the radio, like you suggested. Do you know of a way to power the tablet back on without having to pull the dash apart again to access the power button on the tablet? Thanks in advance for your help.
Unfortunately I don’t. The Samsung tablet takes forever to charge and the usb hook up in the car doesn’t provide enough power to do it. I’ve been looking at switching to a different tablet but just haven’t had the time.
Hi gr8 video I just have one question. Is the radio wireless with android auto or Apple car play?
This radio isn’t but they make ones you could install instead that are.
I read one of your comments that you are in Maryland! I wanted to know if you would be able to do this project again for my 2013 genesis coupe. Please let me know if this is something you would be able to do and an estimate on labor!!!
Will you be able to see the aircon thermostat and power? Thanks for sharing. Great vid.
looks awesome, I only wish was possible to have a 2din bezel with the same look of orinal(not matte black)
Hello sir I have a question. Did you have to buy a am/fm radio cord?
Nope, the one going into the stock radio fits the new one.
Quick question... have you installed hid or led headlights? If so..can I get some recommendations??
I have LED. I'll try to get you the link for the ones I use.
Awesome!! Thank you
if you can find a link to those bulb , that would be really helpful. am also having trouble finding the correct bulb for the low beam on the aftermarket anzo headlight, I would think LED would be easier then HID, maybe just plug and play for led since it doesn’t require a ballast. but i have no idea what D1S LED bulb or the adapter it need for aftermarket looks like. Big fan tho, can’t wait to see more of your video.
is the double din the only alternative to the factory radio head unit? i cant find any videos on youtube of people changing the oem radio ONLY on the bk2.
There’s a bezel on amazon that allows you to use a single din head unit and adds a little storage area below the radio. www.amazon.com/Metra-99-7352B-Installation-2013-Up-Hyundai/dp/B00EO0JBKM/ref=sr_1_51?dchild=1&keywords=Genesis+Coupe+radio+bezel&qid=1592963197&sr=8-51
Youre so hyped, I love it
Could you send me the link for what odb2 you bought for the wireless connection that you had to run that to the tablet. Also liked and subscribed loved the video and I want to do this now as well. I have a 2013 Genesis 3.8 Track. Thanks bro for the video!
Greate work. I have a queation... How does the tablet work? How do you turn it on or off. And what is if the screen is loked. You cant push the button because its inside the dash??? I want to do this but you have to explain me how this works? Please 😅
If the tablet totally powers off then you have to pop the bezel back out to be able to get to the power button. That’s been one of my issues with this setup and the Samsung tablet. The Samsung tablet is very slow to charge and after a few days goes dead. I’m working on changing it up so that won’t be an issue.
@@VehicleEvolutionok thanks 😊
I installed it. The only problem I have is that when I turn off the car, the tablet doesn’t turn off, it DONT does when it runs out of battery. Do you know how I can make my tablet turn on and off with the car?
You need to use the AutomateIT Pro app and set a rule that when the power is disconnected the tablet sleeps. You also have to make sure the dash command or whatever dash app you are using is closed and not just minimized.
Ik it’s a couple months late but what did you do with your key inserts because I have push to start but where your aux and usb at that where my key fob can go and also do I need the oem radio if I change it out with the nexus 7 tablet
You can either keep your oem radio or change it out. The tablet runs independent of the radio. I have push to start as well but my key fob insert is in the front of the arm rest storage compartment.
How much wrap did you use? I don't know whether 1*5 will be enough or if I need 2 by 5
I used a 1x5
Does the OBD2 scanner drain the battery? It uses power even when the car is turned off.
Not noticeably
How do you make sure the tablet doesn't die? Do you think it'll be a good idea to connect it to a constant wire (I think blue wire on the radio) to prevent that?
I have it connected directly to the ac outlet so it gets power as soon as the car starts. Connecting to the radios usb outlet doesn’t provide enough charging power.
What about the ac and heater, where do you control the climate
Tim, you did an amazing job dude... I have a 2014 Gen Coupe 2.0T also... but mine has the factory nav unit (not the blue LCD like yours)...Just like you, I have searched the internet relentlessly trying to find a way to do what you have done. Everyone says it can't be done. I want what you have!!! Please help!!!
Did u figure it out yet? I was told I need to buy a interface
Can ya give us a update on this system? Really wanting to do thin on my bk2 aswell
Man i need to call u or something bc I’m struggling my genesis coupe is the premium one with the big navigation screen and everywhere i look or go it says the dash kit u recommended wont fit and apparently i need like a maestro rhk2 i order to get the sound to work i followed the video step by step and my carplay turns on but i have no sound
same issue here, did you figure it out?
Did you have problems with the tablet having a red X over the battery icon when you turned the car on. Like it’s not charging
Nope. It charged just very slowly
Thanks! Just finished mine and saw that and i thought I was going to have to do some re wiring
Can I just change the radio only for the middle without the tablet on top?
Very nice.. Well done.
Hey man i have a question what app are you downloading? Are you using an android table?
I’m using dash command on a Samsung tab 7a
I have a 2011 gen is this possible to do on it?
Find a answer? I have an 11” too
that's amazing I like it i'm thinking about doing it for my gen
Love the vid! Do you have a another link to the upper bezel because it is not available for purchase anymore.
Thanks! That's the only link I had. There may be some on ebay though
I ordered it from a website, then they cancelled my order..that same day(last week) it's back in stock on amazon
Will this work for the premium coupe with the infinity system
Excellent job
What can i do to make this setup i got a jvc after market it dont got a usb from the back only one usb from the front of the radio plz help!
You don’t need a USB in the back. I actually have my tablet power cord running to the aux power in that little compartment below the AC controls. Running it to the USB port on the head unit wasn’t enough power to keep it charged.
Do you have the links for all the things you used in you video?
In the bio
We have the same car and I just spanked the subscribe button
Subscribed! I just picked up a 13 3.8 Track and would definitely like to do this swap. What part of MD are you from?
Thanks! I’m just outside of Baltimore not to far from BWI.
@@VehicleEvolution Oh sweet, I'm basically on the opposite side of BWI in Laurel. We'll have to meet sometime!
Can you drop a link for the up top screen ?
Hey man! Where did you get the carbonb interior trims? thanks and nice vid!
Thanks. I wrapped them.
@@VehicleEvolution Okay. Looks really good!
Looking to order these parts. The wiring harness that's on amazon still works for bk2 with Navi set up?
The parts will fit fine but I don’t think you can integrate with the oem nav screen. This setup replaces your radio and top screen.
did you lose the ability to change the music and adjust volume on the steering wheel? Also, does your phone need to be plugged into the receiver in order to use nav and music?
Check out this video I did recently on the steering wheel controls. ruclips.net/video/ZrudPrV0CmU/видео.html
Also the phone has to be connected to be able to us GPS but on the pioneer unit I used you can play music through Bluetooth if you wanted to.
Thanks man this video helped so much
What if you have a bass installed? The wires are not exactly how it’s shown in the video.
So when the car turn off for a long period of time the tablet power won't die?
I use the automateIt app that puts the tablet to sleep when the car turns off and wakes it up when it turns on.
Do you still have access to your steering wheel controls? I have the same car and radio and followed all your steps, but the steering wheel controls don't work anymore..
I don’t but I’m working on a video now to show how you get them back. Hopefully will be up early next week.
@@VehicleEvolution Okay great! Looking forward to the video! (: But also what did you do with the white cord with the yellow tip? It has a purple clip on it too. It doesn't plug into the pioneer radio so it's just hanging out behind the radio. Do I need to have this plugged in somewhere? I appreciate the help.
Doesn’t need to be plugged in for this radio
Are there any newer head units that support bluetooth to connect to apple carplay?
I haven personally looked. If there aren’t I would imagine someone will come up with one soon.
when u are wiring up the adapters, did u use all of the connections? bc i have wires that are not the same color left.
You will have several left over.
@@VehicleEvolution did u also use the micro bypass?
Yes I did. It’s only necessary if you’re going to use android auto though.
@@VehicleEvolution oh also on the video u didnt show the part for the datalink maestro! Do i need it? And how do i install it
I did a video a few months ago on the maestro.
Amazing job!
Holy cow that's awesome
Which tablet? Which radio?
Have the same car but changing it for a standard one 🤯♨️
I wasn’t able to get my tablet to charge any suggestions ? ( Has x on battery when connected ? )
I actually have mine running directly to the power outlet in the dash that’s next to the sub and aux ports. Works way better.
The adapter kit had two ground they both go to the stereo harness.?
Only the one that’s on the connector with the yellow and red wires
Where did you get that spilter that you used for the tablet and for the phone.?
What did you do with the wires that did not have a match between the harness and the wires that came with the system?
Pulled them out of the harness.
