This match was like a sequel to the 1974 World Cup final.

Victory against Germany as visitor team is really great achievement. Love Wouter, Tiggelen, Breukelen, Aerle. They were strong and brave, alongside super stars like Gullit, Van Basten, Rijkaard and Ronald Koeman.
I remember watching this when I was a kid and I only knew Gullit, Basten and Rijkaard. Later in that match, Ronald Koeman suffered an injury and had to undergo treatment for a long time. I was wondering why this player didn't get a replacement. Why do they keep injured player in this important game. At the end of the match, I realized how important Ronald Koeman was and I would say he was *the man of the match*

That Dutch team went downhill very quickly after winning Euro 88. The Italia 90 version was a shadow of the Euro 88 team.
They still had quality players in 1990, but they no longer had a coach that stood above the players. Perhaps Cruyff should have gotten the job.

Koeman was/is a lousy coach. As an attacking defender he was unparalleled. Look at the stats - he is BY FAR the best attacker among defenders. Nobody comes close.
