I am absolutely terrified that I won't be forgiven during Ramadan. My doctor and I are worried that fasting will damage my health - I fasted one day almost a week ago to see if I could and I've been recovering ever since . If anyone has any advice for the person who gets incredible pain during fasting please respond - I am scared that I will fail
you have to feed a poor person everyday for the fast you couldnt do, as in for the old peoples case it will apply to you as well due to health issues, until you can start making it up again, and never say you wont be forgiven. Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allāh. Indeed, Allāh forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." (39:53) It is upto Allah for whom He wants to forgive and InshaAllah He will forgive anything that is less than shirk, since you are not willingly missing it, May Allah make it easier and help you recovering ASAP.
We are very fortunate to be a Muslim as Islam doesn't burden any soul unnecessarily. Fasting is mandatory on a healthy person and not on a sick person. If Fasting aggravates the illness its not fardh on that person rather you give hadiya for each day of missing fast to a poor person who is Fasting. By doing that you get the reward as you have done the Fasting. Allah swt is kind and merciful to his slaves. Alhamdulillah. Allah know best.

TL;DR you shouldn't fast.
You can make it up if you can't fast due to health reasons.
