I agree. She seems very friendly and wise to the ways of business. The decision to join Villa Vie Odyssey clearly wasn't taken lightly and she was smart to choose the pay as you go option. Sure, it cost more, but it truly minimized her risk in an unproven business and concept.
It's horrible that she's out $30k, but a wise litigator should be able to get her money back due to Villa Vie's contract not including the T&Cs, instead pointing to a website where the T&Cs could easily be changed. HOWEVER, the internet archive can be employed to locate the website terms and conditions on the day that Jenny signed her contract and it probably will be determined that she didn't violate any agreement that she made by signing on that day.
Those after her may not be as lucky, because my gut is saying this is going to go the way of LAS and there won't be money to refund the other passengers.

As usual what is really interesting is the difference between what the CEO has said and what he subsequently does. When he left Life At Sea he positively ranted about how horrible it was that LAS didn't have a Performance Bond. LAS was going to have one but when they looked into it more and also how expensive it was, they dropped it and instead of having passengers board in Miami, they were going to send them to the Bahamas to board. Fast forward to that same CEO now having his own company and he too dropped the idea of having a Performance Bond and he too dropped US ports and he too was going to have passengers board in the Bahamas instead. Just as that CEO also went on worldwide press and called LAS' ship unseaworthy (when he had chosen that company and its ship to carry out his vision of a world cruise) and then he started his own company and bought Gemini's sister ship (same age/built by same builder at same time). The story is as he spins it or re-spins it in the moment.

To remove the whole of the US (and I assume he would be lopping off the west coast of the US too) is reason enough to ask for a refund. Just appalling this bait and swtich. The founders and residents may not have the option of a refund if they don't act now. Once the ship has set sail- then they didn't act in a timely manner. I guess they are gambling on this venture to succeed. I'd never believe a word of management. • @RetiredZGrt

Unfortunately that's incorrect. She booked all ~17 segments for an entire 3.5 circumnavigation. According to the company website a 10% deposit is due on each segment booked and the remaining 90% of each segment is due 90days before the start date of that segment and it is nonrefundable at that point. That was an error in that story. She did not buy Endless Horizons ($300,000] she bought all segments of one 3.5 yr circumnavigation and she said in prior articles that if she liked it she would consider buying a cabin or the Endless Horizons program. You pay the $300,000 upfront and get your lifetime on the ship with no further monthly fees and can supposedly roll to a 2nd ship thereafter. That is, of course if the ship lasts 15 years (unlikely) as they said it will and if they buy another ship in the future which they said they would (originally the purchase was to have been announced in January and then it was to have been announced this summer except now the 1st one hasn't sailed and they've ruined their finances and reputation and it is doubtful anyone would lend them multimillions for a 2nd ship at this point).

I feel I have been kept inform as much as humanely possible by the owners of all the bads and the goods. Having started a business or 2 in my life, I understand how hard it is to plow a new route. To do something never done before. There was many mistakes done but the team kept rolling. And it pays off now that the ship is finally fully certified.
Talking about the ship, she was bought from a mainstream cruise line. But since she was unused for 4 years since COVID, had to be re-certified head to toe. She basically had to pass test like a brand new ship. One thing I can guarantee, she is now in a much better shape then most of mainstream cruise line ships.

Jenny sounds like a nice woman but the media is misrepresenting this lady's financial interest in the ship. She didn't buy a cabin, she paid for a few segments of trips, but there was no ownership. Too bad she sold her home, but that's not the fault of Villa Vie. Jenny still got some free meals and a free P&O cruise out of the deal. Comparing the Villa Vie to a condominium, Jenny made a deal to rent a unit for a period of time but didn't own it. One article I read implied that she lost $350,000 on the deal, and that can not be true. The room and fee prices are clearly stated on the Villa Vie website.

Please let me know where you saw the article stating I lost $350,000 because I do need to correct them. When you buy 17 segments - that's a planned 3.5 year cruise. Each segment is about 10k. Those segment fees are due 90 prior to the sailing. So she would have to pay for each segment 90 days ahead. Segment one would be paid three months prior to the May 15 (proposed date) inaugural. All together it's about 160K for the 3.5 world cruise. My friend is a passenger- in a solo inside cabin- that's how I know the pricing. My friend, like Jenny, also sold her home and car because she won't need either for at least 3.5 years. Passengers that enjoyed the world cruise- can also opt to buy a cabin and live on the ship for the reported 15 year life span (MIke stated that's the lifespan). Mike also said that there would be other ships in the fleet and that the residents can transfer their owner ship to one of their new ships if this ship doesn't last the 15 years. These are middle class Americans- not wealthy people. This was to be Jenny's "home" for the next 3.5 years and possibly beyond (had she enjoyed living on the ship)

That's not what she said. She said the people signing up for VV were/are "down to earth," more "older hippy vibe," the price point was intended for middle class explorers, and unlike the high-end ($$$$$) cruises, the people were not stuffy or elite types. At no point did she say, "cruisers are stuffy elitists." She also said she formed opinions based on her online interactions, as to who she thought she'd become friends with and who she didn't think she would, and once she met the people in person, she found out she was incorrect in some of her assumptions. That means perceptions of people online vs in-person are different, and you can't tell who you'll actually have chemistry with until you meet them (and she's right!) She said she "got along well with everyone she met," though of course not everyone was going to become a close friend (isn't that really kind of obvious?) It's *almost* like people don't actually listen to what's said vs their quick jump interpretation of what they think was said.

Not sure what her actual complaint is -- other than the ship didn't meet the start date. She wasn't a resident, didn't actually buy a "villa", was just a tourist wanting to go on a segment. She was given food and hotel, even though the delay wasn't the fault of the owner and after she continuously and publicly complained to staff and residents, she was asked to go home . Again, she wasn't a resident, of course she should have been asked to go home.

This is Jenny and you are incorrect, I was a paid resident on the ship since December of last year.
