Man you have done a brilliant job and should be so proud. As for those people that have left unnecessary and negative comments about you and your truck, they could not ever have built what you have. I think there are two kinds of people in the world, the jealous who never do anything except criticize, and then those like yourself who quietly achieve. I sincerely hope you and your wife enjoy your travels and that they are safe..
Sooo many armchair expert comments on here I'm just reading...:)... we have done over 15k miles on this truck just in the trial runs, we will be embarking off to the U.K. In a couple of weeks, our last truck we travelled all of North America up to prudhoe bay etc with over 40k miles and deciding what I did and didn't want out of the next build..and this is the culmination of those ideas. In tsponse to what happens if I roll it onto its right side..yes, I have considered that and as such I keep a small contingency of recovery straps etc in the top box and have a second high lift jack on the front bumper...hopefully enough to allow me to get it up enough to access, I also carry a drill and I could drill the rivets on the top inge and remove it that way..drastic to be sure but drastic times call for drastic measures.
Good on ya, mate. Critics rarely come from a point of actual experience and, more often than not, their comments are typically borne of a weird combination of inertia and jealously.
My wife and I went from Glasgow to Delhi in India and the whole journey I did not even have a puncture, a top hose blew in Turkey and apart from normal maintenance, nothing else broke. We went in a Series 11A with camping gear and a roof rack that we often slept on. The worst part of the whole journey was southern Yugoslavia. Iran was possibly the friendliest place and back then women in Kabul and Iran were wearing Western clothes and mixing with Westerners. Sadly that is a thing of the past now. A wonderful conversion indeed, I wish you luck and safe travelling.
hahaha great retort. Struggling to see why this video is copping so much negativity. Will be looking forward to seeing how your adventure progresses. Still struggling with the reply to an earlier critic, though: "Wife said she's never seen me so rigid...lol.." Haha it is not required that you share everything on a vlog. Happy travels.
Karl studioredcloud.com It’s probably a very good idea, we Australian’s are pretty well regarded around the world but Americans are often not, especially in somewhere like Cambodia or the Middle East for instance.
@@jamessveinsson6006 I’d rather be in this than than some wannabe army thing that’s just a target in dodgy places around the world. 2 things you want to avoid in a world traveller, being mistaken for Army and UN. I travelled in various parts of the world in a red truck bigger than this, nobody gives you a second glance.
It really is a 130... I was really nervous in front of the camera...wife says she's not letting me in front of a camera again unless I have a couple of drinks first..then ya can't shut me up...:).. my other trucks are 110s and I'm so used to formerly chatting about that...
Aussie Expeditions No worries mate..Have you been down to Tasmania before? Its the best place for on and off rd exploring in Australia. Dont listen to those blokes taking the piss
For those of you interested in this truck a whole build thread is on expedition portal showing why and what we did is shown...or just Google...prepping a defender 130 for around the world... also check out our other build....prepping a camel trophy defender 110 for around the world..
Oh My God. You are such an engineer. I congratulate you on building this truly piece of great art. Wish you best of luck with all your trips world over. Good luck.
Do your thing, great looking rig and set up. I recently finished the Pan Am from Florida to Argentina. Don't let the naysayers and negative Nellie's sitting in their arm chairs get to you, lol. Many don't even have a passport, lol. We are the ones actually out and doing this overlanding thing.. Keep up the great work, thanks for the awesome review. Cheers!
Credit to you young Shane on a well thought out 4x4,I'm sure it was a lot of hard work designing and adjusting your requirements for this vehicle, like all 4x4 you have to think outside the box to design it for your needs only, enjoy all your travels.
In response to the comments about reliability etc..I was very apprehensive about using the td5 based vehicles, but they have been around now long enough to know the common failure points in them and to be honest...every truck breaks...take care of the wiring harness oil, fuel pressure regulator and they really are a good engine..we just did over 5k miles in 2 weeks mostly at 6k feet elevation and not a single problem or drop of oil used and averaged 18mpg.. in reply to infinite water, I meant hot water when connected to stream or hose..
Not a drop of oil? Land rover? No oil inside.🤣 Listen to the Land Cruiser owners. They will tell you the same. They know. I didn't know about my td5 discovery and those guys told me there wasn't oil inside for sure and the car would brake parts and have lots of failures almost every weekend... Thanks to the stars and the planets I have some kind of phantom neighbour who fixes my car every night so I can believe the only issues I've had, in 230000kms on highways, roads, cities and several kinds of off road terrains, was a worn clutch, a bit of "seal noise" in the primary gear shaft spacer, "rebuilt" inner roof, 2 weeks of "3 amigoes" and a waste gate axle apart from oil changes, filters, a set of brake pads and one of the horn buttons starting to "almost jump out of place" when I hit it too strong. Still the EGR connected, stock injector harness, original wabco valve, original "destroyed" but working keys...what else? In the other hand, I've seen some head gasket changes in diesel 2.8 patrols and some alternator changes in modern Land cruisers, among other failures. So: or I'm really wrong, as the toyota guys say, and those cars never break(so I've seen allucinations or something similar), Or toyota and nissan owners will never recognise their cars cost more than twice as much in fuel, parts, failures and mechanics to fix that all. And they break as well... Awesome 120 mate. Enjoy it despite the envyous comments. Cheers
I think it's awesome. Well done. Ignore these people bagging it. Does not seem to matter what somebody posts on youtube, there is always trolls who have to be negative. I am jealous of your plans and wish I could do the same.
really well thought out landy, ready for any adventure thrown at it .well done guys. just ignore the negative comments here they are probably just frustrated coz they still live at home with mom!!!!
You've done a brilliant job on your Land Rover. True and professional craftsmanship. Hope your journeys and safe and happy. Greetings from Florida USA.
I would be really interested to see how your system works to access the Bundutop from within the rear cab. Have you cut a hole in the floor of the Bundutop? How do you get the mattress out the way to get in there?
Great Job mate don't worry about the negative comments. They are just jealous of your truck. Only worry I would have is the weight? I have a LC200 built and weight is a issue.
No...just an example of what you can do if you have enough time and tools...you say showy, thousands of others say..well thought out.. earthroamers are show trucks..
nice conversion. Some advice from someone who has done a few miles around the world. Taking dogs with you is going to give you a whole heap of problems getting in and out of a lot of countries. Slimmer tyres are also better for the sticky red mud that quickly packs on those tyres turning you into a ski with out direction control.
Great rig! Land based travel around the world seems highly vulnerable to robbery given the current state of wars and economic environment - would like to see your travel experiences !
When I spoke to bundutec about it they said I would be the first to try it and to let them know how it goes..lol..they loved the finished product...I do have a build thread on expedition portal showing the whole build..

Stacey Barns. Excuse me? Are you serious or is this a joke??
Does it still have the stock engine or did you swap it?
Ignore the haters........although they some of them have a point. It all looks 80% good to me.
Stacey Barns It's his money, he can spend whatever he wants.
A very nicely organized overland rig!

Hi, i am restoring a land rover you might be interested in some of my videos
As long as the engine is running, he has infinite water! Holly cow, that's amazing.
Being a land Rover it means you have hot water about half the time ;)
But it creates water............ wow
Qwiv has hot water on tap and hot engine oil leaking on the floor. well if anything like mine
Is it the leaking oil that turns into infinite water then? If so, he Middle East could use that technology!
i am restoring a land rover too! check out some of my videos!

after all that work, which was lovely he still hasn't noticed it's a 130
#allthegearnoidea
Andrew Harwood I don't know much about landys. How can u tell it's a 130?
the rear wheel on a 110 is almost directly behind the angled door line on the rear door, the extra length of the 130 is in this section.
Andrew Harwood Yup 130 but also there is increase length behind the rear axle.
correct. I was referring to the additional wheelbase length.
nothing emmurses better into any culture like a 10000lbs giant red truck with an Aussie flag.
Ummm, excuse me...8000lbs...lol...she's a big boned girl..:).. what can I say..:(

nice rig , I went to prudhoe bay and all over alaska in old nissan pickup truck no conopy - zero creature comfort, still enjoyed it
Nicely setup Landy.
That's some tuff competition at the 4:35 mark in the background,
Really a Land Rover Legend,
Hopefully you had time to talk,
Lots of knowledge there
Excellent build. Very well thought out and executed. Safe travel!!!
Whenever you show in Brazil come by where I live and will be a pleasure to meet you guys
Great video, great truck!
Nice video, safe travels and thank you for sharing your rig...
i think that is a great conversion to a land rover, what i love to see🖒🖒🖒🖒
I do like some of those ideas. Fantastic expedition adventure - takes some bravery to do it.
Wow, what a rig!
Awesome build. Well done. I'd like to have one just like it
Pretty cool set up.
Amazing project!
Blonkers, barnstorming and brilliant - love it :-)
Wow it's an awesome truck. Great layout👍
That is some well thought out vehicle!
Very nice rig!
Awesome job mate. I know a few folk are going to go green with envy :)
You want to use it in snowy conditions. Cooking outside is gonna be fun!
Superb vehicle, great work enjoy the trips!
Very cool!
2:37 every situation except if it tips onto the right side
Actually... that's a bloody good point!
Notice the additional hi-lift jack mounted to the front bumper.???.. winch front and rear with controls inside vehicle cab..
*Two* hi-lift jacks? Now your just showing off ;-)
Why do Aussies always have the coolest off road trucks
I would have recovery tool in a custom bumper
Great job!
Love it. You've done great job. Good luck on your next trip.
