    This is why they were so amazing. This sound was not even popular at all in the states in 1989. They invented a new sound that wasn't quite punk and it wasn't quite metal. Although inspired by both genres. I hear even some slight Replacement's inspiration as well. Sounds like Channing on the drums.

    Why is the title say this was in 1989? Chad was the drummer in 89, Dave didn't come until 90 so this has to be late 1990. Chad didn't sing back ups, Dave is the only member to sing back up vocals. So unless I'm missing something this can't be 89.

    • @Vibracobra23_Original

      Yes, you're missing something!

    • @TestMeatDollSteak
      @TestMeatDollSteak 4 года назад +20

      This is Chad on drums, Kurt on all vocals and guitar, and Krist on bass. Recorded in October 1989. Peel sessions aren't necessarily 100% live, or even one take -- bands can track the vocals and instrumental sections separately, overdub whatever they want, for example. Kurt overdubbed backing vocals in a couple of spots for this one. In '91, when they did Drain You on their third Peel Session, they overdubbed a bunch of noises and effects into the middle section, for another example.
      In closing, yes, this set was recorded in 1989 with Chad Channing on drums.

    • @The_Doug124
      @The_Doug124 4 года назад +2

      TestMeatDollSteak Thanks for the short history lesson, really. Though I firmly believe Chad added an edge on Bleach with his double bass for example, however, in the grand scheme of things, I don’t think his delivery was quite as smooth as Dave’s, yet Dave is much more stripped down and rigid as a drummer. Regardless, this recording was quite good.

    • @a.mnmemories4289
      @a.mnmemories4289 4 года назад +2

      Well right on then. It sounded a hell of a lot like Dave to me on backing vocals but if what you say is true, I stand corrected. Also, next time instead of saying "Yes, you're missing something" maybe expand on that a bit? Haha. Luckily second dude did expand and apparently the vocals or overdubbed. Still sounds like Dave's highs to me, but I don't know everything.

    • @a.mnmemories4289
      @a.mnmemories4289 4 года назад +4

      Hmmm.....as I'm listening to this again, I can hear the overdubs for sure but I can't hear the backing vocals i thought I did before. So I was either binging on Nirvana videos that day and got confused on the videos or i was just being a dumbass. Even the Polly backing vocals sound like Kurt, just singing the highs. Anyway, my bad guys. It's clearly Chad drumming too. And I call myself a Nirvana fan. Like a really big fan too. Well thanks for the correction as I do stand corrected. Great vid too btw. I love that version of Polly, especially when he screams the last verse and chorus. I'm shutting up now.
