Sorry the rattling noise in the background is the camera lens refocusing...it was set to AF instead of MF as i was standing and moving around a lot and didn't want to keep readjusting the focus..didn't think it would pick it up so loudly
beautybyjj ITs nice to see the Veterans be able to make a little snafu...but the video was awesome regardless.... This youtube thing is Hard..But love love love your videos...
By far the best eye tutorial for hooded eyes, no other you tubers properly explain the concept of hooded eyes but yours was fantastic , love this look thanks so much for this video :-)xxx
This is easily the best and most helpful video I think I've ever seen for hooded lids. If I hadn't seen you start with a bare lid, I would never have known you had them too. Your eyeshadow always looks amazing but I'm stunned at the lid space illusion you were able to create! Thank you so much. x
OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO!! I was looking ALL over RUclips for girls who have the same eye shape as me. I kept thinking maybe my eye shape isn't made for eyeshadow or maybe I'm doing it wrong. FINALLY I'm glad to find someone with the EXACT same eye shape as me (Almond and hooded eyes)
hello jj, you are really an inspiration to inspire women to overcome their insecurities. i reall admire every bit of you. your tutorials, advice, story, just everything
Can't wait to create this!!! OMG, I've been struggling with a black smokey eye for so long, it never turns out the way I want it to. Thanks for sharing!
ya know, the fact that you took the time to film this tutorial and make it so easy to follow is very nice of you. You look great and the tut is greatly appreciated. :)
This vid was so helpful. You helped me to realize that I have hooded lids.. And that bit about placing the transition color by the socket...was absolutely helpful for me. Love the talk thru vid😍😍
Random sidenote, honestly feel like you've got the most realistic closure on RUclips, love your hair, the colour, errythangg! Anyways, loved the look and the longer format, great video
Omg. Mad respect . I am pretty much novice with make up application and that was a bit scary how much expertise needed and products, but I learned a lot especially about the hooded eyelids. It explains a lot
Thank you so much for this!! I have the same exact eye shape as you and I always noticed applying shadow on myself would be considerably harder than others, glad you made this video this is the only one I've seen that caters to hooded (but not so hooded) eyelids with a high brow. Beautiful look as always!
That is the easiest smokey eyes I have ever seen. I can finally pull this off! By the way, you have the natural face structure. You enhance what you have already. Great Job!!!
Love this!! I have hooded eyes and always hated them until I realized I could do so many more looks, I just have to fake a higher crease! You are gorgeous and rock this look!
Finally! I knew something was always off about my eye makeup when I did it the "usual" way. My eyes are almond shaped too and definitely hooded, even moreso than yours :( I had no idea, I always thought that description was solely for Mongoloid/Asian eyes. Thanks for shedding the light, my eyes have been opened haha
PLEASE do an updated foundation routine!!! Your face looks FLAWLESS. I have been debating purchasing the new Nars foundation, but I wasn't sure if it would cover my hyper-pigmentation and acne scars.
I have been watching your vids off and on since last year...I don't know how long you've been doing this but PLEASE keep on doing what your doing...I truly learned a lot from this video. I too have hooded lids. I didn't know that there was a name for it. I just know that when I was applying eyeshadow I had to always adjust creaselines. I didn't even know why or what I was doing. This video explained it all. Thank you, thank you, thank you...and B Blessed.
I am so glad that I have found out that you have hooded eyes, because that what I have, and I have been watching your videos for 5 years now. I am struggling with making smoky, but I hope this video will help change my makeup game.
This is my favourite way to do a smokey eye as well, love the gel liner as a base! I am quite lucky to have a lot of lid space haha, but I actually think smokey eyes look best on monolids anyway as you can manipulate the shape of the look more :) yours looks so gorgeous. Ahh that Nars foundation as well, so obsessed with it!
I really enjoyed the video quality and of course you! I wore a look like this yesterday but I added glitter. everyone kept asking if I had a tutorial on the look now I can say JJ does. tfs!
BEAUTYBYJJ ALL DAY EVERYDAY! HANDS DOWN MY FAVOURITE MAKEUP AND STYLE RUclipsR! SO HAPPY FOR ALL YOUR SUCCESS, BIGGER THINGS TO COME FOR YOU IN JESUS NAME!
Great video. VERY informative. I somewhat realized about the different results you get with your eyeshadow due to your lid space. I realized that when I look down, my eyeshadow on my lids looked so much smaller as appose to looking up or straight forward. Now i can correct this.Glad I got a clearer explanation though!
I have the NARS foundation in Benares too. I took a sample of the shade before that.. It worked but it was a tad lighter. I just got that concealer in Amande today. It's everything! Now I gotta get my hands on that sacha buttercup and becca's primer 😊
Who says hooded eyes cant be beautiful....perfectly gorgeous!! Great tips to help us and thanks for the Nars foundation recommendation...that would be a dream if I could just use that to cover my whole face without the extra step of a concealer on my spots...definitely gonna try that. Thanks!!
Pretty! Ha I have the same eye shape! I always wondered about the space at the top because its so much..LOL..thanks soooooo much for this! Love the traditional smokey eye!
thanks for the tutorial, I never though I got hooded eye lids until now. Definately will change the way I put my shadows, thanks heaps!! 👍❤️more power to you!
OMG!!!this is gorgeous. I have been looking for a beautiful black mua with hooded lids as i just realized i have them as well. Glad I found you. now to look at more vids

Thank you for this tutorial, explanation so clear! Now I have a degree a confidence to try eye shadow! Please make more videos with detailed eye shadow application explanation.
Thanks for this video! I have hooded lids and now that I'm over 40, my lid space is even less! This is very very helpful. You look beautiful as always:).
U look simply gorgeous. I'm not sure of my eye type. I know I dnt have hooded lids, but u made that smokey eye look so easy. I would love to see a collab with you and msroshposh
And it's pretty cool boo how you did this! I never apply eyeshadow because I have hooded eyelids. Thanks for this video and you are gorgeous by the way!! 😍😍😌
Love the tutorial and look. I have hooded eyes as well and it made it easy once I figured that out. I suggest you try Becca highlighter in topaz, if you love opal its great for woc's.
Man! I learnt a lot, I would always complain to people that my eyes are annoying and I have to much space, that's why I love doing other peoples makeup. Thank you !!
Thank you so much for shielding more light about the shape of our eyes... i get upset when i try recreate some look n d outcome is just so wrong..lol.. something always tells me that such design is not meant 4 my eyes type, now i knw beta 😍😍.tnks
I realize this video is really old but I just came across it looking for hooded eyes tutorial and this one is perfect and so pretty. Btw ur hair looks bomb!!! New subscriber ☺🙌
Thanks. I have d same shape of eyes and it frustrates me to do a full eye makeup bcuz of the amount of space in between. Thanks a lot for this explanation.

awesome video... i also have hooded lids and whenever i take my shadow up past my crease it looks so crazy on me kind of drag queenish which is fine but not the look im going for...i stay away from shadow or only place it on my tiny lid space BUT I am determined so I will follow your tips and try again...thanks for the vid
Sorry the rattling noise in the background is the camera lens refocusing...it was set to AF instead of MF as i was standing and moving around a lot and didn't want to keep readjusting the focus..didn't think it would pick it up so loudly

So pretty,it reminds me of the naomi campbell eyeshadow look you did, which is one of my favorites.
This was really helpful totally trying this tomorrow

CityofDestiny She does have great style, everything about her is elegant and super current and relevant.
Don't know if I agree with the sassy part, but for the rest I agree.

I have the NARS foundation in Benares too. I took a sample of the shade before that.. It worked but it was a tad lighter. I just got that concealer in Amande today. It's everything! Now I gotta get my hands on that sacha buttercup and becca's primer 😊
