- Well, that was Sons of the Forest. If you didn't understand the story, that's fine, there's literally just 3 cutscenes in the whole game and you saw them all, the story makes zero sense. The first game's story wasn't anything special and this one is worse. The disconnect between the survival game, the forest, cannibal tribes and the caves, labs, and story content is even worse than the first game. It's got a lot of cool ideas, but overall nothing is executed too well, and the package deal is awkward as all hell. That's without going into the constant bugs and crashes that plagued our playthrough.

The ending really does look like the main character turned around and went "oh I forgot my gear"
Only for the guys in the helicopter to completely misinterpret and say "they've made their choice...lets go" and just leave without question. There probably should be a "are you sure you want to stay?" confirmation to avoid people accidently getting left on the island.
Fun Fact: Those are the last game's characters.
The kid is the guy who is in the cube with you, other than Kelvin and Victoria, who shows you the laptop and the dad is the guy who took off to get a Helicopter after he got wounded.

Whiskey was having some pretty intense flashbacks when the cannibals showed up.
Sad that there is literally no reason to build a base in this sequel because you end up needing to run up and down the entire Island constantly.
The reason to build a base is for the sake of building a base. My buddies and I have hundreds of hours in the original forest and we have never beaten the game.
Didn't need one in the first game either, but I don't consider the only way to play this game to be rushing down the "objectives" and story to completion. It's a sandbox survival in its early stages that HOPEFULLY gets better with the updates.
No point in finishing the story either, building has been way more fun, i think they just rushed enough story to release it

Scoutmaster Zoran is the best thing. 100% fit the role. Would get lost in the woods with this Camp Lazlo-esque group of misfits.
My theory about the cube is that it's some kind of interdimensional transportation device.
The futuristic city you see for a moment was probably just as confused as you are after seeing a floating cube in the sky.
Everytime the cube is used, it unleashes unnatural energy that mutates everything around it.
Kind of similar to the Warp of 40k. Or basically, it's radiation but eldritch.
Rimmy on his own is chaos, Rimmy with Vtubers and other friends is extra chaotic... But Rimmy and 8 people playing Sons Of The Forest is the definition of chaos!

There actually is a half decent story to the game but the majority of it is tucked away in either notes you find or just around the world as static objects, there are however still gaps in it regardless that i hope to see filled in eventually. So far the largest portion of the story that is missing is related to the guy that shoots down your chopper and there's clearly additional scenes that should feature him and his people missing.
that and the fact that this is still *beta*

@@RimmyDownunder The story was the single worst part of the first one and I loathe that such a potentially interesting survival game with an intricate building system decided to not only double down on the batshit space alt dimension demon mutants but also made the combat loads less fun and engaging in the sequel by making your trained killer for hire move like a fat drunken airsofter who doesn't even go to airsoft events but uses his mom's credit card to buy gun parts to feel interesting.
@@RimmyDownunder A good example of story not shown in the notes but displayed in the enviromnent is half the family your sent to find and extract were at the dining hall in there seats when they were transformed by the cube as was shown in the security footage, though the Father clearly knew the artifact was on the island as they had other artifacts that lead them there it's effects and timing were clearly unknown at the time.
@Silver Dragon Gaming yeah, we saw that, that doesn't really add anything though. The player already knows at that point that things went wrong, and confirming that it wasn't the CEO just leaves more questions, which isn't satisfying writing, nor a good way to dodge writing actually interesting stuff.
Instead we got multidimensonal aliens who are for some reason weak to crosses.
The guy in the cube is timmy the kid from the first game the old guy he hugs is his dad the guy you play in the first i don’t think they ever mention it but its him same scar and similar model to adult him in first game

The best part about the cross working is that Rimmy accidentally discovered this earlier and completely didn't notice. The scene he discovered it in was included in the video but cut *just* before the demon started burning.
That scream at 3:56 sounded like it came straight from a soundboard... It sounded THAT perfect

The game is early access and the devs have said the full game won’t be out until 6 months most likely and are highly relying on the community to tell them about glitches and such, you are basically alpha testers, and have said they have so much more to add and fix.
Also fun fact, there are two tribes on the island and they both have passive npc’s so that child you killed, you accidentally declared war on them, I know because I killed a kid 10 seconds after me and my buds started the game and the tribe wasn’t happy lol

They weren't complaining about bugs and glitches either, they were complaining about the story sucking.
@@McDouggal true but the developers did say that the story is not complete and it is obvious from the current available content, with huge gaps in between, and at the same time, once you buy it, it’s permanently yours, even the finished product, and I would imagine since they are a small group, they need the funds and they also do take in testers suggestions. Besides, do you want to pay $30 for a game that’s in development with developers that do care about your input and you either way get the finish product or do you want a $60 game that looks unpolished and rushed made my big developers these days? Of course not all of the stuff they make is bad but with what they have been making recently, I don’t want to feel like a piggy bank for them just to buy an unpolished game.

The SAS survival handbook is the one thing I wanted to buy when I worked in the map shop. You can't take your survival kit on commerical aircraft any more.

Also I was not expecting this game to have a weird three way crossover with Stargate Atlantis and Homeworld Deserts of Kharak. But that's what I took away.

Point of note, from whoever it was who said "Kalvins eyes are on the front of his head, this means he's a predator, run" forward facing eyes do not necessarily mean that the creature is a predator, it can also mean that the creature is arboreal or evolved from an arboreal ancestor. This is because arboreal creatures need the depth perception granted by forward facing eyes, to accurately judge distances between branches.

A Stun Baton is technically still useful if it doesn't shock if you just hit hard enough and knock them out, that's a good Stun.
A Shock Baton however, needs the electricity.

Fun thing with the grapple gun is that it can carry logs and send them up or down itself.
Hopefully this early access is nothing compared to the first game's early access where the changes, additions, and updates were barely noticeable unless you didn't play for large swathes of time.
