Does anyone know Chief WALTER STRAUSS? A USN Chief that retired around 1976. Bob Ewing
Hey you guys i’m working in the area on 6/17/2024 to 9/2/2024 can yall give me recommendations to live and best beaches to explore and things to do??
Please check out my sister Tawna Boat’s restaurant The Corner Bar & Grill in Coquille.
In the 50’s and 60’s I lived 15 miles from Coos Bay. I went to Marshfield in the sixty’s and graduated with Steve Prefontaine. There was a lot of logging in the areas in the 50’s and part of the 60’s. Which made the area a little bit more prosperous. Even though I didn’t live in Coos Bay but went there to shop and high school, You made me miss that area. They have a good Hospital. I still live in Oregon. Love love Oregon!
I'll be there end of March (23) with the objective of buying a home and moving there from Sacramento, CA. I get notifications everyday from a realtor. I already love it there.
If you have any questions get in touch! info@thehometeambrokers.com
I’ve lived in coos bay for 21 years. Crime is up but coming from Sacramento it still seems pretty minor. I love it here and I do live on the beach. It’s cold on the beach. Really cold and the rest of coos bay . 2 blocks from the beach are really warm. So I do have a beach I can walk to but it is too cold to use. Give and take.
The homeless people know that the county jail has no room for anyone. But the most dangerous criminals. So petty crime is out of control. As the cops mostly catch and release.
Coos bay has changed and not for the better, crime, drugs and homeless in every nook and cranny. Beaches that are now extremely regulated because of the homeless and you can’t even be on the beach at the jetty at night anymore. As a native Oregonian that has lived in this area for nearly 5 decades, the last 8 years it has turned into a place I no longer recognize.
As a local I agree):
😡
Dang lots of critics. We all could strive to do everything better....life isnt perfect. I found the video very useful but now i am concerned about the negativity in the remarks.
Constructive criticism is a good thing. It shows things besides just the POSITIVE aspects.
Perhaps you need to let go of the positive only mindset and over sensitive issues .
could you PLEASE get the camera off of you & show the city while you talk? Thank you
Next time, you got it
Hard to find a good job up there and it seems a bit depressed
what about doctors and hospitals, also animal hospitals(what hospital)? also what internet provider(s) what internet does it have, good bad soso totally crap lol?
It’s not the population that makes the crime worse it’s the politicians and law enforcement that don’t enforce the law. I lived in Coos County for over 20 years. There was less crime in the 90s and early 2000s.
Exactly! Our city leaders do absolutely nothing to protect us. If it gets much worse I’m afraid the people are going to take things into their own hands.
Cite and release. No real jail.
Liberal politics is the problem with any high crime and undesirable areas.
Or maybe more ppl are out of jobs and desperate bc of the pandemic idk not everyone who commits a crime is evil forever
@@HM-eb5tw Huge portions of the criminals are not from the area they were coming to Coos County before COVID-19 because there’s no punishment for committing crimes.
The whole video is your face. You should show more of the area.
Check out this bad boy: ruclips.net/video/Nx-EcMMT2TQ/видео.html - we’re due for a new one soon. Thanks for watching!
North bend is on the north bend of the Coos Bay thus comes the name
Scary place to live with a corrupt Sheriff’s Department and deputies that violate your rights, escalate situations and behave like they are above the law. This is the worst place to live just solely based upon Coos County Sheriff!
Is the largest commercial port located in Coos Bay?
Awesome! Thanks! I was waiting for this one! You guys do a great job.
Thanks for watching!
My cousins and I are thinking about moving to Coos Bay and rent a house there. We love how beautiful the area is. When it comes to entertainment, what is there to do? We have seen that there are two casinos, are there any music festivals, carnivals or any theme parks in the city or close by?
There’s music on a small scale, no theme parks or anything like that. Thanks for watching!
Loved your video! I'll be moving here in a few months to be closer to family. I'm use to tourism growing up in Vegas but I'm really looking forward to living somewhere more relaxed. I'm currently in a small city in Texas, I enjoy Texas but the summers are a bit too much. Coming from a place with triple digits and dry heat, the humidity + heat has been hard to get used to. I hear all kinds of wonderful things about the weather and nature out there from my family. I'm looking forward to making my future home on the coast.
Awesome! You’ll definitely find some different weather here. Let us know how we can help!
Don't bring that conservative twang around our parts. We don't need it.
@@uglyhobo4602 haha 🤣 hilarious.
@@uglyhobo4602 Wow!...gotta love that Liberal tolerance 😆 that is always said by Liberals..Not!
Liberals are only tolerant to those who think like them.
@@uglyhobo4602You look like the definition of conservative twang 😂
Thank you for creating this channel I am planning to relocate in two years
Thank you for watching! We’re here to help when you’re ready.
It's a great area
Great video and your presentation is fine. The draw for me is the 25,000 population, but I'm interested in homes that are 25yrs old at most.
Do you have a rough estimate of how many homes, if any, were built in the late 90's or later in Coos Bay or North Bend?
@@peteb2114 Thank you. Much appreciated.
Moving into the tioga building in a couple weeks for a job at bandon dunes. Thanks for the info its much appreciated!

Congratulations!
It would be nice if the nerd would hurry up & get to the point !!! They should delete the introduction music too. 😠
Very measured and constructive feedback, thank you. We’ll relay it to our creative director and producers. 😆
Get lost, Frank.
You're not just talkin' about the Oregon coast but the SOUTH coast brother.
Very little immigration from third world countries or states that promote those types. Main reason it's a nice place.
Real estate agents and developers have helped to drive housing prices up to the point where young people growing up here have no hope of owning a home here.
For this and other reasons like increased traffic congestion, the rise in untrustworthy contractors, entitled attidues toward local merchants and services and just overall increase in the pace and pressure of life there is growing resentment toward parasites and profiteers looking to promote the area with no consideration toward the local people and with only profit in mind.
Do everyone here and up and down the coast a favor, have some consideration for others and stop promoting the area solely for your own profit.
Exploitation!
I'm moving here in a few years to be closer to family.

If the intent is to showcase Coos Bay, perhaps it should play the video full screen rather than in a small window with a full head and shoulders shot of you as the focus???
You might be right. Thanks for the feedback!
He keeps swallowing spit while talking . Gross !

Booze bay
I am 71 and hubby is 74. We have been retired 10 years and thinking of moving out of rural east Multnomah county (the country/farmlands). What are your general thoughts on people our age moving to the Oregon coast? We currently own a large home on 1 acre and, after 20 yrs. here, need a change.
Hi Sandy, your demographic is probably most common for us. Many people go to the coast to retire. Paul and I cover Multnomah County-- so we can also list for you. We'd be happy to share more info about making the move. Get in touch and we'll chat - info@thehometeambrokers.com
I'm sixty-eight and love it here. A lot of people retire here but it doesn't feel like a retirement community, as Brookings and Florence have always felt to me. It is hard to find real estate, but the market is softening some now.
I'm retired and love it here. The homelessness and crime are concerning but not unique to Coos Bay. I don't feel unsafe here at all. Housing is not cheap, but again, that's not unique to CB. It's not as crowded with tourists as the north coast. One thing to consider as a retiree is the availability of medical providers. There are some specialists here but you might have to go to Eugene or Roseburg for some things.
Coos bay is expensive and trying to get a contractor can be very challenging… but it’s beautiful.
I live just outside Grants Pass. I have friends in Coos Bay. Coos bay is where I will spend most of my retirement years. I have been going to Coos Bay for years.
You are spot on with your analysis of Coos Bay. ESPECIALLY about crime. There are a lot of crank/drug/ alcohol burnouts there. Petty crime is rampant. Hopefully there will be a crackdown of sorts to clean the area up...soooo much potential in Coos Bay.
Yep definitely pros and definitely cons. Thanks for watching!
Hello, I’m planning to move there but I can’t live in a place without Tennis Club. Is there’s one in Coos bay?
The Boys and Girls Club has a big indoor tennis facility and they have ladies nights, men's nights, mixed doubles nights, etc. I'm not sure if they do any "open courts" but we would be happy to dig into this further for you!
You are better off living in Bandon.
That might be true, but you don’t want to move there if you’re handicapped or do not own an automobile!
Honestly not a bad place. Spent my whole 25 years here so far. Lots of jobs but not much housing and it’s honestly expensive and the crime has been getting worse over the years but honestly that’s going to be a given with any town/city that becomes bigger. I have no plans on leaving anytime soon. I’d definitely like to raise my daughter here because the beach is on one side the on the other we could go play in the mountains.
Worst city in the whole state for rape.
small town feel. mingus park is magical. great food. people are unique and friendly. love this place so much.
"The World According to Briggs" does it better... perhaps follow a format that is more geared towards the viewer and not a 6 o'clock news broadcaster. Between the "ummms" and saliva, this was hard to watch.
Awesome, thank you! We’ll definitely do that.
I’m looking to move to coos bay. I just finished my tiny house. I want to buy a lot to put it on. How tiny house friendly is coos bay?
Hey Bobby - it just depends on where and what exactly you would need. Shoot us an email at info@thehometeambrokers.com and let’s discuss!
Feel bad for you! Coos bay is becoming a dump. It’s good to visit but not stay there.
That's the one thing that struck me when I moved to North Bend (21:46) that it was called "The Oregon Bay Area." I had no idea that Oregon, like California, had a Bay Area!
Boy! you're just in every video comment section.
Like you're trying to monopolize everything regarding Coos Bay.
Listen to your clip Umm Umm Umm Umm Umm Umm Umm
Thanks for watching and thanks for pointing this out. It’s tough to get rid of the fillers without a script - hoping to improve this ASAP!
Its the one area Id consider living in
Young man, someday when you have a free 23 minutes grab a pencil and paper and re-watch this video. Count how many times you said "you know". It's unbelievable how many times. It was very excessive and distracting. I know if you work on it you can do better.
You’re right, and the feedback is appreciated. Always striving to get better, you know.
You would come across much stronger without all the "um" and "ah" and "ums" and "aha"
Thanks - it’s a work in progress!
How do you find rentals? What are some walkable areas to live in?
What type of rental are you looking for? They can be hard to find. You’ll find walkability in most neighborhoods. Are you looking for just sidewalks? Flat areas?
Honestly most of it is walkable just not east side area
