It's strange that this movie is such a hidden treasure. Everyone that sees it, enjoyed the hell out of it. And yet so few people seem to know it exists.
It wasn't just misunderstanding and a failure to communicate, it was misjudgment and prejudice against others, namely hillbillies. Watch how Allison looked away in shame when she remembered how afraid she had been of Dale.

Tucker is the best buddy a guy could ask for. He's sarcastic, sure, and a little jealous. And he's a bit of a peeping tom. But he never stops being a supportive friend, even in the face of his own possible death. He even puts his life in jeopardy to rescue poor little Jangers! 😊 Now that's a pal!

Watching Alan Tudyk & Tyler Labine together in this is like being wrapped in a warm blanket, it’s so calming and a wholesome feeling. Also, shout out to Chelan Simmons, she’s an underrated and fun actress. Such an awesome and underrated movie, happy you're finally reviewing it.
I worked at a video rental store from 2010-2015. We got a dozen plus movies every week. I remember opening our shipment when this movie came out. I said to myself "WTF is this? This has gotta be a baaaaad movie". My elderly Korean boss took it home, as he did with all the new movies to watch first to give recommendations through the week. I saw him the next day and he couldn't stress enough how badly I needed to see this movie saying "its the funniest ever". This man doesn't watch comedy OR horror so I was extremely worried. Safe to say that movie was on my recommendation shelf for a couple months after it came out. haha. TOO damn good. .....i miss that job so much!
Love this film and it makes a great double feature with "Cabin in the Woods". Same tropes and great mix of comedy & horror in both. Alan Tudyk and Tyler Labine were also both in the 2nd/last season of the show "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" and they were both great in it.
The funniest part of the whole movie for me is when Tucker turns back around to the woodchipper and lets out that short, shocked scream. Alan Tudyk plays that moment hilariously.

Tucker & Dale is 1 of those movies that I feel more people have seen in the last few years, than when it was released. I woulda never bothered checking it out, except Tyler told me I should..... and I am glad he did. It was 10Xs more fun than I ever could have imagined. Glad you got to check it out, its definitely been making the rounds with reactors in the last year or so.
Alan Tudyk is a flippin' national treasure. The film is a send-up and subversion of nearly every horror trope. It has a lot more levels than people think. It didn't do great in theaters, but I believe it will become a classic.
@@matthewdhewlett Try talking to someone who takes fraternity membership as a serious charitable commitment. I went to college with a whole org of them. But I definitely knew a few Chads in my day! They give fraternity life a bad name and their organizations don't tend to last long under pressure.
Really enjoyed your reaction; good comments, and you have some great facial expressions. Dale is one of my all-time favorite characters, his interactions with Allison always warm my heart. Such a nice guy, he didn't presume to call her Allie until Chad had the ax at her throat and he burst in, and think what it took to prod him to actual violence.

I agree. The main characters were given time to develop, which made the movie more enjoyable. The background characters were also well used to contribute to the main characters development while advancing the plot.
The newspaper clippings and the weird paraphernalia are in the cabin because it is Chad's dad's cabin. So, the big industrial incinerator is probably at the sawmill.

The way this movie is literally a mini final destination 3 reunion chad plays Wendy ( Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s ) bf in the opening who died and the blonde girl in heels is Ashley who died in the tanning bed iconic.

This is one of those hardly heard about movies which is so odd because of how great a movie it is. This film got so many things right and put a refreshing spin on horror comedy with it's strong story line. My brother came across this film by chance in a $5 movie bin at Walmart years ago and thought he'd give it a shot. I ended up watching it with him and loved it! I've recommended it to friends of both horror and comedy movies ever since!
Funny you mention Evil Dead, because I was going to recommend you jump into the Ash vs Evil Dead series, as it is very much in this vein, and Bruce Campbell, along with the entire cast are hilarious! Still crossing my fingers, no pun intended, that we get a sequel at some point, since at least Chad, we know is on the loose at the end of the movie, we also don't know what happened to Chad's bio dad's killing partner, we only see Chad's dad, in the newspaper clipping, so there are quite a few directions they could go with it.
My favorite thing about this movie is that it has TWO Power Rangers in it. The reporter at the beginning and end is the Yellow Lightspeed Rescue Ranger. The frat guy who burned to death was the Red SPD Ranger.
I have a theory that B.J., the older hillbilly at the bowling alley at the end of the movie, is actually the original killer/Chad's father. If you look closely, he looks like an older version of the killer in the newspaper.

One of the things I didn't realise until now. The majority of the movie takes place 3 days ago to the opening scene with the reporter. So is Chad still alive? I love this movie for the pure goofiness and the way that everything is turned on it's head.

I think the reason this movie work is that you can see almost every misunderstanding and accidental death coming but it’s still entertaining.

I honestly love this film during a cold fall day with chips and a beer it's like the perfect cozy film for spooky month.

Yeah, buying the DVD was one of the best decisions I made regarding movies.
