As always sheikh Dr Yasir Qadhi, jazakhallahu khairan for your illumating lecture. I learn something invaluable each time. I am envious of the good deeds you're earning, in a good way. Dear Yasir, In my humble opinion, I think Quran mention of the women who back bite against Mrs. Aziz was not a public seduction of Prophet Yusuf pbuh, but a rebuke of the women who made fun of Mrs. Aziz. I think the lesson is, the sinner who is Mrs Aziz is less blamed by God, than the women who thought themselves better than Mrs. Aziz. (Allaahu yaalum) So the cutting of their fingers is proof of how vulnerable they are to the beauty of Yusuf Pbuh. The lesson is, don't mock & think you are better, lest you are worst.

Allah granted a title to some messengers in the Quran e.g. Musa/Moses kalim Allah (the one who spoke to), Abraham /Ibrahim khalil Allah and Jesus/Issa Al massih in Arabic or the Messiah in English (the anointed). Muslims do not believe in the crucifixion nor in the resurrection of Jesus but in an ascension to Heaven. In the Quran the later is clearly stated. Also, Allah in the Quran when referring to Jesus usually mentions him as "Jesus the son of Mary" to have the full name as if to make the distinction between Jesus the son of Mary and another Jesus. Although historians have reported the existence of another person at that time also called Jesus and claimed divinity, most Christian scholars do not say it publicly.

*It’s a case where the translation takes from the meaning.* Allah says in that verse that He made the moon a “نوراً” (An-Noor). The word نوراً implies that the light is coming from an external source. It means the moon light is coming from somewhere else. That’s why the sun is described as a burning lamp and the moon is described as نور. Let me show you more examples: “Allah is *the Light [نور]* of the heavens and the earth.” - (Qur’an 24:35) _The heavens and earth has light but the light is coming from Allah._ “Their example (the hypocrites) is that of someone who lights a fire, but when it lights up everything around them, Allah takes *their light [نورهم]. . .* - (Qur’an 2:17) _The person in the example has light but the light is coming from the fire._ “Allah is the Guardian of the believers- He brings them from the darkness into *the light [نور].”* - (Qur’an 2:256) _The believers have light but the light is coming from Islam._ “They want to extinguish *the light of Allah [نور الله]* with their mouths. . .” - (Qur’an 9:32) _This light exists and the disbelievers want to extinguish it. *It’s a case where the translation takes from the meaning.*

It means the moon light is coming from somewhere else. That’s why the sun is described as a burning lamp and the moon is described as نور.
Let me show you more examples:
“Allah is *the Light [نور]* of the heavens and the earth.” - (Qur’an 24:35)
_The heavens and earth has light but the light is coming from Allah._
“Their example (the hypocrites) is that of someone who lights a fire, but when it lights up everything around them, Allah takes *their light [نورهم]. . .*
- (Qur’an 2:17)
_The person in the example has light but the light is coming from the fire._
“Allah is the Guardian of the believers- He brings them from the darkness into *the light [نور].”* - (Qur’an 2:256)
_The believers have light but the light is coming from Islam._
“They want to extinguish *the light of Allah [نور الله]* with their mouths. . .” - (Qur’an 9:32)
_This light exists and the disbelievers want to extinguish it. But the light is coming from Allah._
