- Jeremiah Sirles, Alex Boone and Phil Mackey break down the Minnesota Vikings' offensive barrage against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football! Specifically Kirk Cousins, the offensive line and pass protection. How were the Vikings able to throw for so many yards without star wide receiver Justin Jefferson? Jordan Addison was a big part of the reason. So was Christian Darrisaw.

Two former NFL offensive linemen (Alex Boone and Jeremiah Sirles) team up with a die-hard football fan and media dweeb (Phil Mackey) for entertaining, informative, opinionated, behind-the-scenes discussions about the game -- from a trenches perspective!
Those big boys did great! The play calling was close to perfect on offense. They need to be this prepared every game for the rest of the season! SKOL
Every game was winnable. Hold onto the ball they very likely win many of those losses.
Yes! The Vikings have not been losing badly. Eliminate a couple turnovers and the Vikings are easily 5-2 or 6-1.
At 8:35 what Darrisaw did was a wrestling move called pancaking out. It's to defend against a leg-drop take down attempt. Never seen a 320 pound man do that on a football field, but it makes sense athletically. Notice how the SF edge drove him two yards like one of those weighted blocking carts. Damn. At some point in his youth, Darrisaw must have been a kid wrestler. Now I know where he got the great footwork.
"Vikings O-Line football porn." Priceless!
Facts. Holy shit darrisaw is a beast.
I thought the exact same thing about the wrestling background. Drive those hips into the mat. I was also extremely worried that when he was reverse snowplow skiing that a cleat would get stuck in that turf and he'd shred a knee, ankle, or groin.
Makes me think the Vikings should get in contact with some of the college wrestling programs to help touch up their linemen's footwork. Minnesota has some of the best in the nation, Augsburg U represent!
best tackle duo in the league
Best 3-4 team in history! 😃 SKOL! 🍻
I will say I love this channel, but it’s mostly because Booney and Sirles are family and they keep it real. SKOL4LIFE!!
Hey Mackey. How about using that yellow pen and highlight more of the other team players so it doesn’t take three or four looks to understand wth you guys are talking about??😅
Yes please!
It would be cool, if its not too much work, to see player progression on the offensive line from guys like bradbury early in his career to games the last season or two. Or Ingram in games from last year to this year. Kind of breakdown maybe adjustments you may see that they have made. Be it technique, or whatnot. I think that would be cool because there was a lot of people that wanted to fire bradbury for years until his little bit of what seems like to most a breakthrough year last year. And then Ingram to see where his progression was to where it is today, and where we might think he may become a year or two down the road.
I second that!
I like this idea a lot. Might be something for the off season if there's not enough time now. They could pick one player to spotlight or something
@@Sue_V ya definitely. i think like Brian O'Neil would also be great as well, because early in his career, even from a rookie, was saw good things in general from his side, and now to where he is probably considered one of the better if not top 3 best RTs in the league right now. Each lineman we have have different starting points, and so far have varying degrees of success.
@@kbrewers True, but he's never been a train wreck like Bradbury and Ingram and to a degree Cleveland have been. The interior has been much improved this season and Bradbury was showing some last year as well. Seems weird that the whole line has played pretty well this year so far doesn't it?
@@Sue_V I think, now that we have 2 really good bookends, the guards dont necessarily have to double team a DE or move protection and leave the interior 2/3 lineman on an island. now you can double team bradbury to one side or the other.
Another 🔥 episode of the Vikings finally dominating a good team
Ever since Rissner came in, Ed Ingram has put his rear-in-gear and is being the guard he needs to be. Still developing, but night and day since the first few games
That was his best game ever. I so wanted to trade him a few weeks ago but now I want this Oline to stay intact! Trade Cleveland now?
I didn’t even notice darrisaw but dude handled his business that game
Really enjoying this segment with Alex and Jer. The breakdowns are really interesting when coming from actual NFL players and not youtube nobodies.
The OL KILLED IT!!!
Also, I miss these guys from 96 questions with B Rob 😂
These breakdowns are so good. Love it.
Amazing content! Really enjoyed these breakdowns. Thanks boys!
“Go…go…cattle prod on the ass here…”😅😅😅
Loved this. Always such a good time listening to an explanation of what makes a play work when done correctly. Absolutely enjoyed this video thanks guys.
Alex, thanks so much for showing what's really happening here. Very very cool
Love your channel!
Been waiting on this breakdown!
Love you guys! Please come back alex to the organization. The guys need your energy again.
Would love to hear some behind the scenes stories of Jeremiah and Boonie's experiences with the Green Bay rivalry. As a fan of the Purple for years I have always wondered how a rivalry like that works from behind the scenes. Who you like or didn't like on the other side and just cool stories they remember. Thanks for the content boys! SKOL!!!!
I could watch Darrisaw highlights every episode.. Other than JJ, Darrisaw was easily Ricks best draft pick
Victory Monday, but still on a Tuesday. 😂
Kwesi doesn't seem to get much credit for building depth in this roster. Risner sure, but Schlottmann held the fort for 3 or 4 weeks until Bradbury was right. Quessenberry stepped in for Darrisaw. Kwesi has since added Adeniji. Addison and Powell coming in at WR. We all thought LB would be weak and Asamoah would be starting - but Hicks has been a revelation and Pace has been a bonus. It seems folks have barely noticed Booth step in for over 40 snaps at CB these past few weeks.
Flores now seems to have a growing group of competent CBs - Murphy, Evans, Booth, Blackmon.
Let’s skol! Thanks you guys!
If we win against the buccs and chargers which we should have we lost by a combined 13 to the last year Super Bowl teams the conversation isn’t if they are going to make the playoffs but what’s going to happen when they play Philly in the championship game
CD is baby Trent but shout out to the Oline for holding it down !
Darisaw- Hokie monster!
Years and years of Ingram losing one on ones? I think it only felt like it. Glad to see his improvement in year 2!
His coaches and some real fans were expecting it. He did a lot of good things last year too, but some folks only saw and remembered the clunkers. The dude is strong and stood up Fletcher Cox all day vs the Eagles. Now Armstead. I I think he could become one of the better OGs in the league as he continues to sharpen up his technique and head game.
The Vikings aren't part of the Top Dogs of the league, but They ARE Up there BECAUSE THEY ARE IMPROVING, LEARNING FROM THEIR MISTAKES, and LUCK is Beginning 2 GO their Way, FINALLY!!!!! I'M A NOBODY, But it's MY opinion that if YOU'RE A TRUE FAN YOU ALWAYS
BELIEVE IN YOUR TEAM, even if They start the season 2-4!!!! This Team Has been their "own worst enemy" the first 3rd of the season SO FAR, BUT they are Working their Ass OFF and it's starting to Show!!!
They're NO longer crumbling. They're figuring out HOW to put the pieces together!!! And most important of All THEY'RE NOT GIVING UP!!! TANKING IS DEFINITELY NOT IN THEIR
MINDSET!!! NEVER Was. And becoming a Champion Doesn't happen over night, IT takes time. So untill Then, stay Positive, stay Loyal , and stay Proud fellow Purple People Eaters!!! Anyways...
Just💜🏈✌️
Who would win in a wrestling match boone or sirles freestyle or sumno
“Just for a slow death…”😅😅😅
Phil that hat looks pretty sweet. Is that an original?
I'm wondering if there is something wrong with Purdy's arm, probably from playoff injury. It seems to make him sail the ball ridiculously, and not have what little extra he can put on a throw maybe over exaggerating the sail. Something else to put pressure on him, leading to more bad decisions. Purdy also needs to learn to pump it, especially when there is a spy he needs to throw timing off with a pump or three. I can understand he is focus and stoic, but he needs the confidence to use the pump as part of his game. Pump will also help as when (if) his arm is healthy, it still isn't one of the top 20 strongest starting arms in the league.
Learned interesting stuff - still not sure what Green Dog is tho - if you want to go over that again in future episode. Thank you for enriching my game watching experience. When I saw Alex kick our butt when he was at SF - I wondered if we could ever get a line man that wild and strong and effective.
The linebacker has coverage responsibilities when the play is called. Once the play starts and the linebacker notices that the player they're supposed to cover stays in to block, the linebacker responds by immediately rushing the passer.
We have 3 starting caliber Gs... For years we didnt have 1
Once a Tank Always a Tank. You will go into a Tanking purgatory. You need to competitively rebuild so people will want to play for you. Vikings may not be Superbowl Bound this year but they encourage other players to come to our team because we have been improving for next year.
It seems like we have the athletes for run blocking, but haven't been consistantly successful. Is that an O-line issue, or is the scheme just not working?
Now that they're gelling as a unit, I think they can start trying to do it going forward instead of backwards and see if they can move the run game. I think they focused on the protection aspect first which is more important, now they can learn to attack.
You guys are the absolute best!!!!!!!
My opinion is you either do the rebuild, clear the pallet. OR, HAVE THE LIONS MENTALITY EVERY SINGLE GAME LIKE JUSTIN JEFFERSON DOES AND Go for the SB !!!!!
There’s only those two options. But you guys and people like Bill Parcels have taught us some of what happens behind the scenes. Being older now I realize how traumatic NFL football can be. You guys had to trade the body for the big bucks$ I can only imagine what you guys went through.
I hope this team says healthy and has a great rest of the season.
Ps. Adding a 17th game I thought was not fair you guys. You go through enough with 16 games. Plus it’s screws with brain and the standings. 🤣🤣.
The rebuild is nearly over dude. Just look at the roster. There are only 20 players left from Spielman's last 90 man roster, and after this next off season that should be down to 8-10. They really only have QB, Edge rusher, maybe a DT and another CB for it to be finished.
If you're expecting a tear down - I think you'll be disappointed...
I've had hope since the Philly game. We could have easily beat the Eagles in their own house. We could have easily beat the Chiefs. This season had underlying hope even at 1-4. I've got faith we'll have a better season than most think (albeit not SB contenders). This is one of the best pods, btw.
I’M HERE FOR THIS!!!! #skol
Circle the player before the play , please
Jeremiah insulted his buddy CJ. He's _from_ Duluth, but _went_ to D2 Augustana U (SD).
The best 2 lineman podcast on planet Earth! What's up, fellas!? Football porn fix is in Xs and Os x2!! Bah Gawd it's Christian Darrisaw! And he has a chair!!
Remember when everyone wanted to cut Ingram after 19 games 😂🤣😂. Go back and look at the center from the Eagles (kelce) early criticism a lot of Eagles fans were ripping him. I live in Philly for reference.
Exactly man. Ingram actually started improving about week 10 in 2022. And Bradbury about the same time in his 3rd year, just after he was benched.
It's funny how some folks use the Eagles a O Line as a benchmark but happily ignore that it took them several years to get there. The 2022 Eagles O Line ad the following experience Mailata - 6 years, Dickerson - 2, Kelce - 13, Seumalo - 6, and Lane Johnson - 11. The Vikes2022 O Line - Darrisaw - 2, Ezra - 3, Bradbury - 4, Ingram - rookie, ONeill - 5.
Some of the criticisms were also ridiculously contradictory.
Bradbury was too small - he's bigger than Kelce.
Ezra is a LT not a LG - Dickerson is a converted LT.
Ingram is terrible and was a bad draft pick - Ingram has now had 24 starts and never missed a snap, whereas Eagle Cam Jurgens - drafted two spots before Ingram has only had about 3 starts, is currently on IR I think, and is grading lower than Ingram even after the benefit of a red-shirt year.
Some fans just have unrealistic expectations, and no sense of progress and development.
Skol!
@@robe2504 well said fanatics don’t use their 🧠 lol
For a year and a bit , people were saying why play Ingram, he's constantly bad
I know I've lost faith in him at times, but my question was always he seems to have the quickness, the size the hands, ... but his hesitancy and poor hand technique leading to off balance, or his not following the play to the end
And it seems like this last game those flaws were being amended.....the punch but with set feet properly, so he's able to slow guys down without them swatting it down.and losing balance
My biggest question was he seems to have a great fast twitch jump, but he didn't let the game come to him, while maintaining his square footing
Ezra lost his job, risner looked way more betterest than him.
I feel bad for Ezra. He's better than Ingram and has shown good progression. Lost his job because of an injury
@@nils4349he’s better than Ingram, right now, but Ingram has a much higher ceiling and has actually shown improvement, Ingram is the future, Ezra was a placeholder basically
It's only 1 game lol
Ezra didn’t lose his job I guarantee it lol
The line looks gooder
I'm confused. Wasn't Ed Ingram really bad, recently? What happened? And did Risner make a big difference?
Dalton has been great. What he still might not know with the playbook, he makes up for with his size and footwork - especially what they mentioned, staying on the same level as the guy on either side of him to form a solid wall.
Ingram has been decent since about halfway through last season - but folks only remember a couple of big mistakes. I think he is the only O Lineman from his class to play every snap since he was drafted - isn't availability the best ability. He is te only guy on the Vikes line to play every snap from week 1 2022 by multiple games!!
Ingram is currently about the 5th highest graded O Line player from the entire 2022 draft class behind Cowboy Tyler Smith, Linderbaum, Bernhard Raimann, and arguably a couple of others.
At the end of last season Ingram was the second best OG from his class behind the Chargers Zion Johnson, but this year Ingram has played and graded better than Johnston, although the Bucs Luke Goedeke has taken a step this season.
Some Vikes fans just expected perfection early.
Risner has been solid.
Current PFF grades - Risner - 63.3, Ed - 64.3, Ezra - 73.8.
Except for Mackey, this is a good podcast.
Not a Superbowl contender? If we go to the Superbowl, I want to see all 3 of you eat your hats. I’ll even allow you to use your favorite dipping sauce. SKOL4LIFE!!
What we as fans want a Super Bowl but ,yes it was ,will it mean they can play for the superbowl
I’m a dumb football player, and every other week I’m not subscribed to this great show. I don’t get it. I press subscribe every week.
How can Ingram quit on a down field play? He isn't a 1st year rookie. Akers is still running and he just stands there doing nothing. Maybe he scores if Ingram engages. Play to the whistle.
This is inexcusable because it's not the first time Ingram has done this. I remember the Cook TD screen against Indy and Ingram was just standing in open field looking back and doing nothing. I watched Risner and he was near every pile. Bugs me because Risner and Cleveland are the better guards and deserve to start. Ingram has been treated like a 2nd round pick despite not being worthy of a 2nd round pick.
They dominate the game, was bolsa playing
Much better team than last year
Nah, I don't think so. I think we had better players, especially on defense. But donashell was absolutely dog 🐕 💩
Here's my hot take so far for the season. Our owners are old school Giant fans. Because of this and their experience as fans they think it could happen any year. (the Manning led Giants who shocked the world) it's a good mindset to have however this is the modern NFL and we have extremely talented duel threat game changers at the QB position. Last year both QBs in the super bowl were that. Anyone who is not is at a disadvantage on Offense. It's the future. You want a combination of Adrian Peterson and Tom Brady at QB. Wake up Wilfs get better. Reminds me of Fran Tarkenton.

No disrespect but we are fans i mean i love to see my team win but sometimes im like freak i want them to loose so we can get a better pick its like stock it goes up and down
Fire kirk!!!
I think Sheryls is kinda silly. They were terrible? They lost by one score vs the defending Super Bowl champs. Get real
Dalvin Cook coming back…👍
“When you guess and get it right that feels sooo good”
“Kirk wasn’t guessing though he was checking these earlier on”
“That’s what I’m saying”
🤡🤡🤡🤡
So weird hearing you guys praise the Vikings
Vikings did Not rebuild by any means they literally rolled with 80% of the starters from last year. You have a 35 year old Kirk and the best WR in the NFL, ain’t no rebuilding
Sorry bud, but only 20 players from the Spielman era are still on the roster. Also rebuilding doesn't mean they throw out all the previous players. The following new players are all starting or playing significant roles.
Offence - Ingram, Schlottmann, Risner, Addison, Powell, Akers, Chandler, Hockenson, Oliver, Mundt
Defence - Davenport, Phillips, Bullard, Tonga, Lowry, Roy, Hicks, Pace, Asamoah, Evans, Blackmon, Booth, Murphy
So a long way different from 2021 Spielman/ Zimmer ...
Nobody said this year was a Competitive rebuild Jeremia. Last year was the rebuild. This year was always the one we were going for. J is so negative. It was always Boone, but now he is excited and you are the NEGATIVE NANCY!!!
With all due respect. Why can't the Vikings win the Superbowl?! Minnesota has shown they can compete with anyone. Largely beat themselves against Philly, KC, & the Chargers. The NFC is wide open. Just take it a game at a time. And if you get into the playoffs..? Anything can happen! Tired of this defeatist attitude from a large section of the Vikings fanbase!
Congrats on the Treble & the especially the CL... there is no feeling like putting that Star on your club Crest.... I agree that Minnesota is a Very good team - I bet a Lot of $$$ on the Vikes b/c San Fran is the biggest fraud in the NFL - they have played NO ONE the last 2 yrs.... easiest Sched I've seen in at least 20 yrs.... they bully Slop.... I think Phila is the class of the NFL - they're even better this yr - KC can beat anyone b/c of Mahomes
Cj ham is south Dakota
Nah, Duluth. But he schooled at Augusta
@Jestin612 yes! Augusta - South Dakota!
Vikings whoop on the best built team in the NFL and these guys are advocating blowing it up still.
Face it they want to lose.
By removing the selfish immature J. Jefferson, you have a coherent team.
Let's remove you.
This obviously is a sarcastic comment
Bozo take, even if sarcastic
Wtf stupidest take ever
Lmao someone is triggered by JJ
