Stig, Thanks for the mention brother. Here's what I'm preparing for as my market is moving to cubic yard charging rather than tonnage charge which it is now. Here's how I'm preparing to shift to when it happens. I would charge my customer for the cubic yardage as well. But I'm going to shred or grind all my trash to create a very dense type product. I think I can take 10 cubic yards and shred it down to 1 or 2 yards. So you are charging your customer $410.00 ( 10 cubic yards @ $41.00 / yard ) Then you dump it for $41.00 or $82.00 depending on how dense you can get it down to. Start looking for an old tree shredder at an auction or Ritchie brothers that's mounted on a trailer and there ya go. This is exactly how I'm going to handle things when my transfer station moves to cubic yardage charging. Best of luck my man.

What I found out is crazy. My local trash man will bring out a 2 yard dumpster for 40 bucks a month and dump it 2 times a week. No delivery fee or nothing extra. I told them up front that I will need it for a couple months

That pricing is insane. I’m in Central California and within the past 2 years everyone started junk removal business so my market is definitely highly saturated. Here I get charged $77/ton for household waste, and $24/ton for green debris. I’m only able to charge $450 per full load for up to a ton because there’s people that will do it for pennies here. I’ve had customers say they have people that wouldn’t only charge them $100 for a full load.

@@Renegade2987 thanks for sharing! Through DRS you can create “add ons” that are presented to the customer towards the end of check out. That covers pretty much everything! Rather than going to the customer for repair costs we’d make an insurance claim. Currently charging &25 for that. Had that option since February but no one has gotten it to be honest!

@@rogerl8488 great question Roger! Knowing that the trailer is 10 yards and the wall height is 48 inches. I divide 48 by 10 giving me 4.8 inches. So I make mark indicators every 4.8 inches in the side of the trailer numbers 1-10 every number indicating one yard! I’ll try to visual show this in a future video! Thanks for watching!

$199 and you are charging what the dump charges? So all your profit is based off $199?
After processing fees, fuel, maintenance/wear and tear, taxes, insurance and operating costs you are making pennies.

I also charge add ons that customers can choose, fire/damage protection, cancelation insurance, etc. also planning to charge for premium booking time slots when going full time and I charge $50 per day after 3 rental days!

@@StigsDumpsterRentalsLLC The busier you get, the more wear and tear and maintenance you will incur. So keep that in mind. Unexpected break downs. Had to replace a battery on my truck this week that is only 1.5 yrs old. $300
These 100deg+ temps are hard on equipment when running non stop for 12hrs a day.
Also I include tons in my pricing, but I am not giving it away for free. I know what an average load in my cans weigh. 95% of time it is under my included weight. If they go over I charge 15% more than what the dump charges. So win win no matter what.
I find most home owners prefer the upfront flat rate pricing with no guessing game. Although with your by the yard pricing it is a lot easier to estimate vs weight.
I would charge more than what your dump charges, else you are losing money after credit card fees.
