Dude have you read 1984? It’s depressing AF and the protagonist of the story loses in the end when Winston is taken to room 101 and is brainwashed back into a model citizen and then is killed. There’s no hope for Winston or Julia in that story.
Yeah. 1984 is bleak AF. I never felt any hope in the book or movie. Look at COVID. Even the weakest people, especially the weakest people turn into grasses and tyrants. Humans suck.
True. They break Winston and it seems hopeless and depressing but there is an optimistic potential to the ending, in that they won't be able to break everyone, kinda never give up vibe. There will be others, Orwell had often expressed this optimism in his other writings about totalitarian regimes.

Superb on so many levels; textures and grooves. In my eighth decade now and such a joy to be transported with soundscapes (not a lyrics man) as I was when first hearing Pepper, Jimi and the birth of progressive pop/rock on my Dansette as a teenager. Bless your souls and more power to your elbows (as we used to say).
Ohhh Man!!! listening to Angel, Angelo Bruschini just knew what was right for these tunes...I love guitarists who add the perfect texture and sound scrape to music, "its not what you play it is what you dont play" He may have left this earth but these songs will be around forever, rest in peace Angelo.
I didn't pay this song much attention when it first came on Channel V/MTV. I was one of those heavy metal dudes who was ashamed of listening to anything else as a young school kid. But the melody always appealed to me. Now, decades later, it is one of my favourite songs and there is not a day when I do not listen to it. An ethereal masterpiece that was far far ahead of it's time.
Twenty plus years or so to make this comment but when Miss Liz hits that second "black flowers blossom" its like getting a loving punch to the bread basket
Just listened to a Rick Beato interview w/ Tools Danny Carey and he briefly spoke of Jeff Buckley. Oddly enough, this now popped up and for those that dont know, Frasers lyrics on Teardrop are about Jeff.

What an incredible performance and production in every way. I have always loved Liz Fraser's totally unique way of vocalising... One favourite is her Cocteau Twins' "BLUE BELL KNOLL", released in the 1980s.. if anyone out there hasn't heard it, you really should.
