Yup, there is a 25% chance to get a prismatic shard from one of the mystic stones. You can guarantee a prismatic shard from one of these stones in the quarry. Just start the day and go break the stone, if you don’t get a prismatic shard… reset the day and go about whatever you want for the day. Go to bed, and then try again the next day. I had 4 mystic stones in my recent play through and within 2 weeks (didn’t check every day) I had 4 prismatic shards.

Dude, you are hands down one of the best SV uploaders on RUclips. DF and Shark and others were the old guard, and as they retired from the game after thousands of hours played, some of the older uploaders dropped away (when Dangerously Funny quit Stardew Valley I was devastated) due to burn out and the new generation slowly took over. I have over 2000 hours myself split between PS4 and Switch and I’ve only taken one hiatus, SV is my favourite video game ever made.
We now have Salmence, Wickedy, ezilily, CharleyBarley, mGaud, SeanieDew, and many more _awesome_ SV content producers that I’m rudely forgetting (if I left you out, please know that if you ever focused on SV as a gaming RUclipsr, I know of you and love what you do!). This newer generation is picking up where a lot the old guard left off and let me just say that you guys make the most entertaining videos! From your challenges, Speedruns, Min/Maxing, Guides for every skill and area in the game, Easter Egg hunting (not Spring 13 eggs, but game secrets and obscure techniques), everything you guys do is just tops. Keep up the great work!
By the way, I’m sure there are a few people who never stopped playing and never stopped uploading but Stardew is the type of game that hooks you VERY effectively and playing it can be more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Thus, one can easily overplay it, burn out, and stop wanting to upload gameplay of it. Plus, gamers change up their “mains” every now and again. It’s the nature of the hobby.
I returned to the game in the last few months after an extended hiatus for similar burnout type reasons... that and I was playing it sunup to sundown and my wife of 18 years was, for the first time ever, telling me that even for me, this was too much video games. Hehe. Now I’m back at a normal pace.
Kind Regards from NS, Canada, and God Bless ConcernedApe / Eric Barone for making this absolute masterpiece all on his own! May the game flourish for many decades to come!
    Take care!
    -Beardless Odin
P.S. Thanks for teaching me about mushroom trees and how you need regular trees on your farm for them to transform into one in your older video! I now finally have two of them! Deforestation is my thing but I’ve learned that both in game and IRL, there are consequences!

Another rock type is the light grey rocks (you have them pictured in the screenshot of the quarry where you talk about geode rocks). They take fewer hits to break than regular rocks, and can occur in the mines and skull caverns (and I think volcano?). They only produce stone, but they give 1exp per rock instead of 0. They are useful if you have a low-level pick axe in the lower mines levels, as they break more easily than the native rocks as well as giving the exp.
The most boring rock, but very noticeable if you use a mod which shows exp gain - I always end up seeking them out to get the small boost!

Did you forget about the grey rocks in the mines? they're a special case, they fit into i think the 2nd tier of rock consistently regardless of the mine you're in, they always produce one stone, and have a chance for 2 stone plus the usual chances for coal i think. They're of note because of their ease to break in later floors or skull cavern as no matter what as long as you have copper pick or higher they are a 1 hit break.
Seeing lot of people also mentioning the quarry for Mystic stones, i believe there's either a guaranteed one or a very good chance for one to spawn there at least once. It seems to occur frequently but it would require testing or data *mining* to confirm.

Double-commenting here, but the upgrading of the pickaxe follows a mathematical formula. Base number of hits *1/(level of pickaxe), rounded up.
So hits are halved for the copper pickaxe, cut by a third for iron, quartered for gold, and it's one-fifth for iridium. Again, always rounded up (so an iridium pickaxe hitting what would require 16 hits yields 3.2, rounded up to 4 hits.)

    • @daredaemon8878
      @daredaemon8878 Год назад +1

Or to put it another way, which is how I suspect it's implemented. Each rock has a certain amount of 'HP' and your pickaxe deals 'damage' equal to its level.
A rock with 16 'HP' would then, with a copper axe take 16 hits of 1 HP at base. 8 hits of 2 HP at copper, 5 hits of 3 HP + 1 final hit at iron, 4 hits of 4 HP at gold and 3 hits of 5 HP + 1 final hit at iridium.

Looking at the pickaxe chart, it looks like the ordering is just 1/n from the basic pickaxe, rounded up. Copper is 1/2, iron 1/3, gold 1/4, iridium 1/5. The only one that breaks this trend is omni geodes with the iron pickaxe by the looks of it
edit-looks like other people already caught it, my bad for repeating, still not sure what's going on with omni geode nodes though, unless it's just a typo in the video or bug

The code sets "minutesUntilReady" to 8 when creating it, and the code when using the pickaxe calculates damage as Math.Max(1, (int)base.upgradeLevel + 1) + this.additionalPower.Value.
And when I tested it, I got 3 hits.

11:11 The ratios still have a pattern! Base to copper is 1/2, copper to steel is 2/3, steel to gold is 3/4, and gold to iridium is 4/5 (with one exception going from 2 to 1)

Just a small correction. While boulders in the mine give 10 stone, they actually give 15 stone on the farm.

I want to mention a different kind of stone, it can be mined in one hit by copper picks and above, they're more lustrous than the normal stone and give more than one stone, i break these in skull cavern before iridium puckaxe

I love mining. I just started playing this game again and am doing a no farming/Joja run. I'm spending a lot of time in the mines.
I was going to try a foraging only/Joja run, but it's been a while since I've played and want to ease back into things

I find the simpler way to think of rocks is in stone health and pickaxe strength.
The stone health varies from 1 to 25 (that I have found), and that depends on location. e.g. Copper ore in normal mines has a health of 3. In the dangerous mines it is 6, and in skull cavern it is 2.
Each time a pickaxe hits a stone, it subtracts its upgrade level + 1.
This means the copper pickaxe takes 1/2 as many hits, an iron pickaxe takes 1/3, a gold pickaxe takes 1/4, an iridium pickaxe takes 1/5 and an enchanted (powerful) iridium pickaxe takes 1/6.
This also means the upgrade to copper halves the number of hits, while the upgrade from gold to iridium means you take 4/5 the number of hits (80%).
For example a copper pickaxe can break a copper ore in skull cavern in 1 hit, but a iron one is needed in the mines, and an enchanted Iridium one is needed for dangerous mines.
The gems can be found on any floor once you reach the bottom. (With jade being half as likely as the rest).
The purple stone can give any of the 7 main gems, including diamond. And the number of hits it takes to break varies depending upon where it is. Sometimes it will take 1.
I assume you found your test case on floor 80-120.
The same applies to mystic stones, with the number of hits to break one depends on where it is. In the mines it will be 4. In skull cavern it will be 5.
Most rocks can be found on floors divisible by 5. This includes gem stones, mystic stones, and purple rocks. It is primarily the metal ores (and radioactive) that can't.

I have a small detail regarding mining xp and dust sprites, whenever a dust sprite breaks something that gives mining xp the player gets the xp. In multiplayer all players get the xp even if they arent in the mine.

Oh, this should include the meteor that can rarely show up on your farm. According to the wiki:
    - The event has a 1% chance to happen... but it picks a random 3x3 space on your farm, then checks to see if at least 2x2 of it is open enough/passable. It will not land on things that block movement, such as buildings, water, or fences. However, crops and crafted paths don't block movement and thus are fair game; a few players have had their hearts broken when their Sweet Gem Berries got obliterated.
    - You will hear a booming noise overnight, and then in the morning the message "An explosion was heard in the night..."
    - It requires a gold pickaxe or better to break. With the gold pickaxe it takes 7 hits; with the iridium pickaxe it takes 6.
    - When you break it you get 6 iridium ore, 6 stone, and 6 geodes (yes, normal regular geodes). In other words, it's not worth rushing a gold pickaxe for, unless you wanted to put something else right there.

    Not-so-pro tip!:
When you unlock skull cavern, you'll want to maximize the amount of floors you can do in one run, so do this:
The desert trader trades one spicy eel for a ruby, so set up one to three crystalariums, and wait two days (in game ofc).
Then set up one to six crystalariums with jades, because on sundays, the desert trader offers one ladder for one jade. And the ladders are A HUUUGE resource, if you want to maximize ur floors.
(Even though, try to do smaller numbers than six, because if I'm not wrong, the crystalarium is crafted with irudium, hard resource to find if you're just starting skull cavern)

You should do pros and cons for all devices.
    Some pros for mobile include:
    1. Auto attack (but only for weapons. It doesn't work with scythe)
    2. Auto tool select (for example, if you want to break a rock, rather than selecting your pickaxe first then the rock, you can tap on the rock, and it'll immediately switch to pickaxe. This doesn't work for everything, though.)
    3. Being able to have empty hands. (On PC, you have to have a space in your inventory selected at all times, but on mobile, you don't have to.)
    4. Item spawning. (Mobile and PC are the only devices that can use the item spawning glitch.
    5. Auto save. (If you close the app without going to bed, you'll be given the open to return to where you left off next time you open the app.
    6. Auto pathing. (You can tap anywhere on the screen, and if it's possible for your character to get there, it will go there on its own. It's great for when you first start and have a messy farm or the haunted maze. Though the path isn't always the most optimal)
    7. You can pan. On other devices, if you're zoomed out all the way, that's all you can see, but with mobile, you can move the camera around a bit to see more.
    Cons:
    1. There's no multi player. (Which means you also won't be able to build cabins)
    2. It's much more difficult to access screenshot. (For whatever reason, if you take a screenshot, it goes to the data folder, but you can't access the data folder unless you connect your phone to a computer.)
    3. You can't use special moves. (this makes the powerful enchantment and acrobat useless. While on other devices, a club is better, a sword is better on mobile for this reason)
    4. Fishing bug. (In order to fish on mobile, you have to have your fishing rod selected and press and hold on the water similar to how you fish on other devices, but sometimes, if you tap on the water, it'll have you walk somewhere. If you're fishing, this gets really annoying.
    5. You can't fish diagonally. (On other devices, you press the arrows to move the rod, but mobile doesn't have that. That means if there's a bubble spot on a corner, you won't be able to access it.)
    6. Panning is much harder. In order to pan on mobile, you have to have your copper pan selected and tap on the panning spot, but the hit box is so small you may end to tapping several times only for it to disappear)

I’m pretty sure each rock type has a number of “health”; the amount of hits it takes to break with a normal pickaxe (eg. Normal rocks with 1 & copper ore with 3) and that each pickaxe upgrade does more “damage” to every rock (so normal with 1, copper with 2, silver with 3, gold with 4 and iridium with 5). Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s just how I’ve imagined it playing the game and I think it works with that graph.
