Simply the best beach build I've seen in CS, and that market detailing was a fresh round of yes please. Loving Solitude so far Fewc! A worthy successor to the beautiful Auridon!
My experience of growing up in Africa tells me that the yard/playground of the high school should be gravel rather than concrete, and African-style rondavel shelters.
I am really looking forward to this one. Water is one of the weakest (or maybe my weakest) parts of the game. I cannot stand the ferry piers with an 80-foot drop down to the deck of the vessel. If you try to create it at a normal looking level it constantly gets flooded.
Loving it so far! A note on the beach: I only recently saw DirtyH use some decals/assets for “wet sand” and a waves effect on his Ibiza Party island video and it looked super cool! They’re the Big Decal Beach by Ronyx69 on the workshop. I haven’t even tried the assets myself yet but I think they’d make the beach look EVEN cooler!
This series is getting better and better with each episode same with the detailing just wow!! Just a note: some of the stalls in the market have solar panels on top don’t know how useful that is when they’re under a cover!
Omg this turned out so good. Those functional beaches are amazing! It’s definitely giving me a little Coronado Beach vibes in San Diego, especially with the art deco buildings!
Hi Few! Kamaʻaina Beach! Kamaʻaina is a term used in Hawaii for a local resident (regardelss of actual ethnic background). My husband is Filipino, and was once a surfer, and has this open, very cool vibe about him and when we are in Hawaii he is treated as though he was a long lost brother, or uncle ( Manong). He is welcomed into any gathering, and is given automatically the "Kamaʻaina discount", which means hotels and those inflatables and and the cafes are practically free. So its this welcoming spirit where all are family and since this beach seems to me more of the locals beach, rather than a resort complex, it seems like the ideal name! Either way, if something could be called Kamaʻaina (prounounced Kama -Ina ) that would be so fun. Mahalo!
enjoyed the color pops throughout the beach town! I really love bright colored builds. the water feature in the detail timelapse with the purple tiles was especially my fave.
Love how the beach came out. All the amenities fit so well especially the tiki hut. It would be nice to see a boat yard or fishing yard maybe close to the bay in Solitude.
That realistic beach asset! In the workshop, the creator shows a video of the same asset on a hill overlooking their city and that also looks great! In that circumstance, the ground stays grassy! So many applications 😍

How about calling the beachfront area "Amity" in honour of the film (and it's a nice little name)? You could also maybe find a prop shark to put in the water. Some interesting lore for the town there maybe too!
With all of the Bob work today I think it's fitting to name something after him. Is it possible to name the grass roof tiki bar... "Beach Bum Bob's" ??? Bob could have built the bar with all the natural resources available to him.
All those props, trees, and such got washed away in a big storm and wound up on the beach, where Bob made them into a Tiki bar. So instead of Don the Beachcomber, we have Bob.
I love the custom plaza in the heart of the beach centre with the blue tiles/fountain jets! So pretty! The 1 tile market in front of the station is a new favourite too! Can't get enough of the series FC! A somewhat cheeky name suggestion for the beach is Soli-Nude Beach 🫢😜
The music in this episode is catchy as hell! Amazing development, and loving the realistic beach, even if the original crowd markers are a tad excessive!! What a genius way to bring life to your beach area. Love the vibe of the town and the little pops of height to give it a focal point. Quality content as always!
That beachfront really looks like my hometown but much more tropical. Market stalls should face the other way. People will walk in the shaded area and will have access to both sides.
Solitude Fun Fact of the Day: Bob "Brian" Robertson was the keyboardist of "The Surfin' Boys", Solitudes leading Beach-Boys-covering-band. He ran for mayor of Solitude in 1991 and won and held office till 1995. After that he went on touring cruise ships with his old band. In 1999 he was thaught to have been gone overboard, but was arrested for faking his own death five months later in Singapore. After serving his time he is now working as a high-school music-teacher and moved back to Solitude.
How about 'Solkiki Beach' as a name for the beach front town, in refference to Waikiki beach in Honolulu, Hawai? Watching you, Overcharged Egg, Biffa, City Planner Plays,... is the way I enjoy Cities Skylines. I don't have the patience to create a beautiful city. But watching masters like you at work is sooooo satisfying! Thank you for that!

Some of the Cities streamers I watch on YT stay with vanilla builds and don't use as many mods. But, I REALLY enjoy how you use mods and the sheer depth of detailing you do in your builds! I like vanilla building too, but all of the extra depth you get is really fun to watch. I'm fairly new to following your channel. All the Cities builders on this platform are relaxing and very enjoyable to watch :) Thanks!
Wow. The amount of detail in this is just mindboggling. To spend hours in just a couple blocks like that is what differentiates you from other CS creators. It's your own unique thing, and we're all for it. :D The beach does get incredibly crowded. Maybe they were going for something like Rio de Janeiro's waterfront (in which case there should be even more people lol; it gets so crowded in there that you have to tread carefully so as not to step on anyone). Also... Those beaches generate lots and lots of traffic. As much as it's actually realistic to have such a small attractive place totally gridlocked (think Bournemouth Pier in July), you might want to do something about that in the future.
Those beach assets are amazing. I think something on the beachfront should be named Hangout Point in an acknowledgment of all those hangout markers you had to BOB off. Also you might want to check the bus line as those little shuttle buses don’t seem to be keeping up with demand
Every episode I find myself going "wow" out loud at some point 😂 I thought the older market stalls looked great! Gave variety and really made it feel like a cluster of different stalls packed in. The whole beachfront also came together so well, as did the high school (I LOL-ed at you bobbing almost everything off HAHA)

Your level of creativity amazes me! When you built that fountain plaza, I was like "Can this get any better?" Would love to see a Christ the Redeemer type of statue somewhere in the background eventually ;-) Such a fun built

Hi FewC, I am impressed by how the beach can look like in Cities! For the town name, could you consider playing with "solitude" and the fact that the beach was overcrowded? Something like "Crowdy Sands" or "Few Crowds"?

The detailing you do makes all the cities you do look just so real. I love the fountain plaza & Market, area & the sitting area with the tables and, chairs under the roof ❤... I didn't see this but, maybe I missed it ..But, what could be cool would be a pedestrian plaza or just cute area with all your great details.. Using Some of those ice cream 🍦 stands , food trucks and, assets that let you sit from Park Life would be great by the beach ❤ Maybe? 😅I also, saw a great plain unmarked drive in type diner, it's got that old charm , side of the road feeling...don't know what pack it came from but,I can look tomorrow.. It's almost 7am need some sleep 😂This was just awesome 👌I live about 20 minutes from Long Beach , California and, this reminds me of it so much 😊👍🏻

Just wondering if those changes apply to all instances of the asset in the savegame or just a single one... will have to check that out What a tool, thanks for showcasing its capabilities!
Unfortunately it does apply to every instance of that asset, I really hope day they change that! So would mean I couldn't move them again in another high school!

Hi FewC, I am impressed by how the beach can look like in Cities!
For the town name, could you consider playing with "solitude" and the fact that the beach was overcrowded? Something like "Crowdy Sands" or "Few Crowds"?
There are some assets called SoCal Laguna Homes that I would love to see you work them into the build!

I am a singer songwriter and a co host on the podcast Stories Round The Table with Hudson & Joni. I work many many hours a week. I also have or had a channel on CS1 I dont upload like I should. I work way to much. But your videos on CS1 are my outlet I get done with work or have free time on the weekends and your videos give so much much enjoyment. I dont even need HULU or streaming. The detailing you do makes all the cities you do look just so real. I give you props you spend a lot of time making these cities look just amazing it seems like when I watch your videos I have to play the game at the same time. Makes my game play so much more fun. I love the fountain plaza & Market, area & the sitting area with the tables and, chairs under the roof ❤... I didn't see this but, maybe I missed it ..But, what could be cool would be a pedestrian plaza or just cute area with all your great details.. Using
Some of those ice cream 🍦 stands , food trucks and, assets that let you sit from Park Life would be great by the beach ❤ Maybe? 😅I also, saw a great plain unmarked drive in type diner, it's got that old charm , side of the road feeling...don't know what pack it came from but,I can look tomorrow.. It's almost 7am need some sleep 😂This was just awesome 👌I live about 20 minutes from Long Beach , California and, this reminds me of it so much 😊👍🏻

only a few minutes into the video, I'm happy to watch because I never realized you can move individual props within an asset with BOB...
Just wondering if those changes apply to all instances of the asset in the savegame or just a single one... will have to check that out

Unfortunately it does apply to every instance of that asset, I really hope day they change that! So would mean I couldn't move them again in another high school!
