Aw, thanks David! I feel like I could sleep a year after all that! I thought the move itself would be the most exhausting part, but frankly it was all the renovations and especially dealing with incompetent contractors 🙄
Thank you so much! 😀 I love my new studio! So good! And the library is lovely. I didn’t even show all the art books yet, because they’re supposed to go into the front room and that’s not finished yet. And he keeps buying more books 😂
Congratulations on finally getting moved, I know it’s been a long time in the making. It all looks great, especially the new kitchen and your studio, I can’t wait to see the darkroom….develop.
Thank you! It took such a long time! But now it’s finally coming together, it’s really nice 😀 I also think the kitchen turned out lovely. Relatively painless process because the people who did it really knew what they were doing. Unlike with the aerothermal installation! And my studio is definitely my favourite space in the house. Turned out even better than I imagined it! I hope the darkroom will get done soon as well. Still sometime this year for sure!
Congrats! Looks amazing. My heart goes out to your movers. 6k books was beyond brutal. I know, lol. Health and Happiness to you and yours in your new home!!
Thanks! My husband felt bad when he made them carry some of those book boxes upstairs. And those boxes were heavy! Really impressively strong guys and very efficient. I really don’t mind having their boxes appear so prominently in the video, they were really good.
Good to hear that the move is done! When I moved from the south to middle of Sweden one of our worries was the bigger houseplants and thankfully clever thinking when packing and good movers resulted in not casualties!
Great that your plants survived the move! Ours are doing really well too, because we got them over to the house ourselves too. I wouldn’t have wanted to have the movers bother with that either.
Great to see the move has FINALLY been done and dusted! Talk about a long time coming!! I love the way you've setup your studio and I really like the new kitchen!! Hope the darkroom goes as well when you get around to setting everything up! The good thing will be you'll have a permanently setup enlarger in an easy to get at place instead of having it hide in the cupboard!! It'll be good to see that space once it's done. That'll be when you can breathe a big sigh of relief!!😊
I know, right? First we waited a year for the paperwork and then all the renovations took forever, ugh, what a pain in the neck! I’m glad the end is in sight now! It will be amazing to have the darkroom permanently set up with the enlarger ready to go and a decent tray side. It will be so good to finally have that! Maybe I can finally finish printing some of my bigger projects when it’s all done!
What's hard to fathom is the amount of BS you had to go through to get where you are, today!! That'd drive me up the wall!!! Wish I had the room to have a permanent setup for a darkroom, but the way things are, it'll be forever before I can afford to move into a new place. Right now, I can't do too much because I've come down with a cold!!! Funny thing, I have a couple of cameras loaded with film that I wanted to get out and take pics with over the last few weeks but I ended up with this bug!! Now, my brother Greg also has it (got it from me) and it's bouncing around between the two of us.
Oh yes. It definitely drove me up a wall, for a while I was going a bit crazy with all the noise and the paperwork, it was really bad. I’m so glad that stuff is over! I’m not sure I could go through it again at this point 😅 I’m sorry to hear that you’re not feeling well. I hope you feel better soon. Frankly, I haven’t caught anything since the pandemic started. Self-isolation definitely makes a huge difference!
Aw thank you! I’m glad you liked the video! It was a crazy task to pack all that stuff up and to renovate the house to this point, but luckily we’re almost through now. Still some stuff to finish, but the rest will hopefully be less exhausting. And the house is really lovely. It has a lot of problems because it’s old, but I’m very happy with how it turned out so far. We’ll sort the other problems too, I’m sure.
Oh wow, I’ve done that too at some point - hiring a van - and those were usually the most draining moving experiences. We couldn’t have done this move ourselves, 300+ boxes? It was a huge task just packing the stuff. I wouldn’t have wanted to carry all that.
I'm planning on moving too also because needing more room and loud neighbours, but just seeing all the boxes and packing up are almost making me give up 😅 congrats for the new place, looks very nice
Thanks! And I can totally understand that. It was so much work and definitely very annoying. Worth it in the end though. Good luck with it and I hope you find a nice place too!
Wow! Super nice home and studio! What a serious upgrade from your small square studio room... I have a square 12x12 room as a studio and bedroom and it became really tight after I decided to get back into music but I'm managing... Congrats Lilly!
Thank you! My new studio is so amazing, I really love it! When I was going through all the footage from the move I just couldn’t understand how all our stuff fit into that small flat! We somehow made it work though out of necessity? I mean, I’ve done so much stuff in the old studio although there was so little space. But yeah, music gear can definitely take up a lot of room. My old studio became unmanageable because of that, because I had all my synths flying about everywhere!

Ah, Schweiz!
Oh, downsizing is so hard! I also got rid of some stuff, but it didn’t make any significant dent in the number of boxes we had to move 😬 got rid of a handful of random cds I didn’t think were worth keeping, but on the way back from the cash converters we went past a second hand bookshop and ended up finding some more books to add to the collection 😂 we’re definitely much better at hoarding than at downsizing 😅
Thank you! I’m so happy with the new space, it’s lovely! And the boxes of those pedals definitely helped a ton to keep them safe during the move! They’re not even hard to store. I keep my monitor and computer boxes as well, just in case it needs to go to repair and I just put those pedal boxes in there, doesn’t take up any extra space. My DIY pedals I bubble wrapped and put in with other stuff which meant that one of them disappeared for a while since I had no idea in which of the 300 boxes it was 😅
Question: for what Do you need So much books? And yes, I can follow you if neighbours are so loud and noisy...aß Well in the night. Wish a good Mode and New Start at the new place to be, to live.
My husband is a professor so he needs about half his books for work. The other half is just books for pleasure. We live in Spain, but read a lot of English language books, so libraries aren’t at all useful for us around here. That’s why we have our own 😀
Oh, he’s great! Without him nothing that happens on this channel would be even remotely possible. And thank you! The house turned out really great! I love my new studio!

Moving can be traumatic, and also exciting (life changing in a good way). Hopefully exciting in your case. I see by your Neubauten tattoo that you're a fan. A little bit curious.. are you vegan?
I think it was all of that, traumatic, exciting, stressful. Definitely won‘t be doing that again anytime soon! And I love my new studio, so that’s great! Neubauten are fantastic!🤘and it‘s my only tattoo, so it says something. I‘m basically the opposite of vegan. I have a very severe case of refractory celiac and the only diet that works for me is a low starch paleo diet, so I only eat meat fruit and veg. I was a vegetarian for a couple of years before my autoimmune stuff got triggered proper, and that‘s probably how I ended up so ill 🫠 I have the wrong kinda genes for a diet like that.
I don’t believe in minimalism. IMHO it’s a scam to trick people into getting rid of stuff that they then have to buy again later at inflated prices. This attitude of feeling guilty over having too much stuff has been fuelling the inflation of second hand gear prices for years. I never sell anything.
@@LillySchwartz haha, so right! And now that space's no problem, as I said two years ago, you need a long scale bass. Because... well- once you hear the way it really sounds in a proper bass amp you'll wonder why not sooner. Those sounds... if the amp is right, it does not have to be loud- you can find the "inner resonance" of all things around you... the glasses, the window panes, the floor(s) and even the neighbor's dog's brain. The bass is felt as much as it is heard. Any sofa or recliner can be a source of "good vibrations" but also- pure sonic bliss. For a long time listening to modern songs they play on the radio I kept feeling they missed something. Most if not all - lack deep end. Once I add my bass over they sound... complete. Short scale if you must (more comfy, more like a guitar) but get one. And don't forget a matching dedicated bass amp. No need for huge/expensive- in the space of some 20 sq. m a 15 to 20 watter is too much...
Oh bass is definitely on the list for me. I love playing my little bass uke, but I want to get into it proper at some point. At the moment I’m focusing on the piano stuff actually, because I have a studio desk now and an 88 keys set up permanently. It makes such a difference to have it always hooked up and ready to play. Maybe next year I focus on the bass properly again. I keep switching around from instrument to instrument. Low end is really important and now that I can finally listen to music out loud again I also realise what had been missing before. Feeling the low end properly makes such a big difference to the enjoyment of music!
