- Coasting with Culture in New England: A Northeast Coaster Hunt
With news earlier in the year that a coaster at Santa's Village would be retiring at the end of the season, a chance came to fly out to Boston and drive up into Maine and New Hampshire for several parks with some coasters to ride, and a night's stay at a historic hotel in Portland.

Great to see you exploring my neck of the woods.
I definitely don't get out to that part of the country enough. Would love to make a longer visit to explore more of it in the future! And recommendations for sites, experiences and/or places to eat out that way?

@CoastingwithCulture all depends on were you going, if your back in the mountain's I would recommend The Common Man. Down by Canobie there is T Bones. In Massachusetts there are a lot of remnants from old parks
Love the video!! Living in Maine for 4yrs, I only made it to Palace Playland and Funtown Splashtown. I missed York,
Storybook Land, and Santa’s Village. Next time I visit, I will attempt to obtain those credits.
Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I've only been to Maine twice, but I know at some point I'd like to spend more time up that way, especially further North along the coast. Being there for 4 years, are there any places you've enjoyed beyond the amusement parks up that way?

Maine has a lot of small hidden gems. Take a ferry to Peaks Island (in Casco Bay, near Portland) on a summer Sunday for their Reggae Fest event. The brewery scene in Portland metro is excellent. Ogunquit beach is one of the state’s best, IMO. Acadia National Park is also very beautiful, and Mt Katahdin is worth checking out. Stephen King’s home in Bangor ME is also worth seeing. And Maine offers plenty of small town charm too. If going into Aroostook County, Caribou ME and Presque Isle, it’s close to Canada and Grand Falls, New Brunswick. There’s a waterfall and zipline attraction there.
Storyland is a really cool park, but I can't justify the cost to go back for just roar-a-saurous since I have the other cred from when I was young.
I could understand that. Although I wonder if they ever have any special deals like those that come up for Black Friday or something to that effect. Maybe then it would feel more justified.

@@CoastingwithCulture that's a fair point. I'm not against going back to the park in general, just not for the price of what a ticket is
Should just get a Palace pass one year, esp being so close to Kennywood/Idlewild and then Dutch/Compounce/Story Land are not that far either
@@coaster365 I've already done 3 of the 5 parks 😅
