our college choir wears the same dresses! we sung this song in an international competition in Tallin, Estonia where we gone the Grand Prix! It was great.. You guys are pretty good for a high school choir :)
our choir is singing this right now and apparantly when we use the cafeteria for a theatre because of its size its so echoey and people were going for lunch and they were watching and cheered xDD They loved it ^^
My high school symphonic choir class is singing this song for our state set next year. I'm extremely excited for it and can't wait to help my section to learn it and hopefully sing it well! :)
I loved everything about this performance. Singing of course was great, but the creative way of moving, the rocking, and the way the conducter conducted Everything! it looked like you all were having fun, and thats good with a choir. Great Job!
We just sang this song just this last year and saw Jo-Michael Schibey. The director wrote it for Jo's choir. Anyways this was at Best of the Northwest in Portland Oregon.
My choir will be singing this song for our district competition. I'm so excited to sing it. We sang Wipip (by the same composer) last year for contests and got a 1. I can't wait to see how this year will turn out. ^^
This is amazing. My HS chorus is doing this piece this year and I'm so excited!!! Although, we definitely need a lot more work to sound like this. Awesomee.
Haha, this was great. My choral department is currently trying this piece out. It is working out quite well actually. Fast tempo , compared to what we are singing, but we may just be going slow since it is in the beginning. (:
Kalinda is an amazing song. My choir used this for NYSSMA and got a gold with distinction =] Great performance. The dynamics could have been better though.
yeah you can just order the song, its Kalinda text by Gabriel T. Guillaume Music by Sydney Guillaume its an SSAATTBB chours, unaccompanied and a Jo-Michael Scheibe Choral Series
@Pianomagicx I sang this too, in All-NJ. It was pretty good - no, scratch that, it was awesome. And you think THAT was fast? Think 10-15 more beats per minute and that was about our tempo. :D
I agree i don't hear the basses most of the time. Maybe beacause the video recorder couldnt capture their low notes? I thought that the song was pretty well done.
just so everyone knows it is supposed to be that fast actually they kind of slowed down on the second part of the song just barely so yes it should actually be a couple of beats faster at the end and the basses can be heard just fine. you just have to listen to the depth of the song and everything can be heard.
then mayb mr rose got it wrong...hes my teacher now and i asked him and he said that the composer went to coral redef but like i said mayb mr rose just got it wrong
All Northwest 2009 FTW. Rocked this song like Elijah...anybody? Anybody?

@gabrielsadz "the director wrote it for Jo's choir". So you mean you sang this with Sydney Guillaume (the COMPOSER of the piece)?
elijah rock, oh, elijah rock elijah.
Yeah i got the reference.
That was pretty cool! What choir is this, and were are they singing?
So who conducted this? At NM All State we just did this today conducted by Z. Randall Stroope, and that kinda looks like his style of conducting.
Does anybody here have the music sheet of Kalinda?
just so everyone knows it is supposed to be that fast actually they kind of slowed down on the second part of the song just barely so yes it should actually be a couple of beats faster at the end and the basses can be heard just fine. you just have to listen to the depth of the song and everything can be heard.
