Because of my virginity, it is not often that I am fooled by a David Blaine trick, but that one got me.
They still teach this trick? I learned this from a magic book in 06’ lol. Only difference is I would shuffle then spread every card out then stab a “random” spot which would be their card. I’d also add a cloth or blindfold to help the illusion.
I always liked watching this effect by Blaine as a kid. This one and him performing for "Fruit Loops" on the street bring back memories. Of virginity.

The way this trick must work as far as I can tell crosses the line of what is fair to use to fool the audience, in my opinion. If I'm right, David Blaine is more of an actor in this particular performance?
Yeah, this was Blaine's Criss-Angel side, but at least the spectators were real. Then Criss Angel took it further by just using fake spectators.
I don't think the spectator is going to remember the hands off fairness of the choosing of the card. The effect would be experienced and remembered the same with a force.
