Grammy and Billboard Award winning trumpeter Irvin Mayfield brings a taste of the Big Easy to Miami with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra! Mayfield returns to the Arsht Center with his 18-piece orchestra, featuring respected musicians Victor Atkins on piano, Ed “Sweetbread” Petersen on saxophone and Evan Christopher on clarinet. Direct from the birthplace of jazz itself, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra (NOJO) creates jazz to enhance life, transform place, and elevate spirit.
NOJO has headlined all of America's major performing arts venues and clubs. The Orchestra’s latest album, Book One, won the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble, and NOJO recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary. Irvin Mayfield and the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra transport audiences to the swinging streets of New Orleans for a night celebrating America’s art form!
