- I had quite a juggling act to avoid copyright blocks with this one, thus the sudden heavy use of graphic novel stills in the middle.
I included a wonderful passage from Michael Kogge’s junior novelisation. Kylo is pretty manipulative and unlikable in his version, but there is has one killer line from Rey’s POV that I just love - you’ll recognise it when you hear it!
Reminds me of a bickering married couple fighting over the car keys.
Haha!! Reminds me of a funny edit a few years ago of them fighting in TFA, but the subtitles are about the, bickering at ikea

Is it just me or was the scene in the movie more romantic than that described in the book?
The book is more romantic because it shows that Ben’s interest in her is sincere and genuine, ie ‘his eyes softened ‘ . When I originally saw it in the film Drivers’ flat delivery makes his proposal ambiguous, does he really want Rey to be with him because he likes her or is he just manipulating her. Now that TRoS has come out we know it’s the former. But I was left unsure when it was originally shown and I wondered if he had been lying.
@@vittoriacolona hmm, interesting point of view. I fell for him so I did not even think about him being treacherous.😋 yes, in the book his eyes became softer and he even smiled (does Kylo Ren know how to smile?) but Rey's attitude is pretty cold - she thinks of him as a teacher, a Master.
I think that she thinks about him more how it can be that how he is I do not know if I explain myself well, she is only interested in him as ben unlike the one who, although he wants to turn her to the dark side, it is obvious that he loves her from any mode
I reckon Kylo is sincere in wanting her to join him as an equal, and it’s clear he wants her as a romantic partner too. However, his negging behaviour is horrible - cruel and manipulative - and reflects exactly how Snoke has treated him for years. To him that kind of behaviour is not only normal but appropriate.
Absolutely love this part....

Feel like I may have to get the junior novelisations. There are some meaningful moments the novels didn't do as well.

Do you think when Rey wanted to take the lightsaber back to her, she was going just to leave Supremacy or fight/kill Kylo?
In the novelisation, when she wakes up after the sober breaks in two, she acknowledges that she could easily kill him but instead spares him. So I doubt it.
As Isobel says, she spares him. It will be in the next video.
