    I saw the ad with the german student Markus. His story was:
    - Invented revolutionary heater (bernoulli effect)
    - investors wanted to buy it
    - he refused investors and was kicked from school
    There was also a lot of generic stock clips in the ad.
    totally believable. The nasty thing is that those RUclips ads are neither downloadable, replayable or traceable. I tried, so I can get more information, but landed here instead.

      I use one of the oil filled radiator varieties on low with a power meter (and zwave switch set to turn on at night when it’s needed) to record how much it’s costing, you can set the price of electricity so the total dollar amount displays.
      In my old place I used to use some free obsolete crypto mining equipment to heat my place and the intent was to see if there was much difference between the continuous ~750 watts miners vs. the variable and intermittent 5000 watt baseboard heater, which there didn’t seem to be, but the main issue being the noise from all the fans which is rather unpleasant in a small space... if you could do liquid cooling with a large radiator and a slower quiet fan it might have been more sustainable but that would have meant spending money on something for no good reason, it was not bitcoin or anything particularly good, so extra not worth the effort and expense.

    ALL electric heaters are, by definition, 100 % "efficient." I put that word in quotes, because, in this case, it means they're 100 % lossy. ALL of the energy they consume is dissipated as heat, in accordance with Ohm's Law, ie, P = (I^2)*R or P = V*I. The only difference between heaters, is that some may distribute the hot air more effectively. The principle applies to IR radiant heaters, as well. In every case, all of the energy goes into the air in the room.

    Great work - yeah, there is no "free lunch", and in the USA (lowest voltage in the world at only 110!!), running this heater would be hot in the walls. When I lived in Canada for 2 years, they have 120V, so you get more "volt amps". And in the rest of the world (where they have 220V), it's *far* more efficient. But, this product is *not* "revolutionary, and "convection" is not "bernolli's principle". I am a pilot, and it's a hugely different thing. Don't buy this heater! Your central heat is more efficient, and safer!

  • @lohikarhu734
    @lohikarhu734 2 года назад +3

    Ceramic heaters with PTC (Positive Temperature Coefficient) elements are inherently safe, since they "automatically" reduce their current/power as their temperature increases... That said, they have been around since the 70's (yep, *50 years*), not at all new, maybe have better fans, but that's about all. In areas where president Sputum of the wannabe CCCP have driven gas prices through the roof, and electrical power has not increased as quickly, electric heat *might* make some sense.

    • @ETXAlienRobot201
      @ETXAlienRobot201 10 месяцев назад

      "Capitalism works best when left alone".
      there aren't enough regulations nor enforcement mechanisms for those regulations. youtube/google makes money, and that's all that matters. [well, ignoring youtube specifically is actually running in the red] nothing holds them accountable for when advertisements get people injured/killed or their devices/accounts hacked. it needs to be made so that it costs these platforms money when these ads get through. this incentivizes vetting ads. it'd probably also burden advertisers to begin with if done correctly. and that's a genuine win for society. naturally, if someone tried this, "oh, anti-business" , "damn liberal!", "oh, just like russia/china/etc..." [honestly, if i didn't actually have a moral compass, i'd LOVE to do business in one of these countries, especially china.] , so on... alternatively, the big business interests do their lobbying spiel and suddenly, *only* a million/billion[ugh...]/trillion[GROSS] dollar business entity can possibly advertise or legally comply with the rules. or whatever other trick. and then it will be used as more fuel for the fire of why regulation is bad and we should abolish all of it, including the FDA... i prefer having zero rats in my canned food, thank you every much!

    Nice to see somebody blow the whistle on scams. As he says, a watt is a watt is a watt. And 1,000 watts through any resistive heater (ceramic, nichrome wire, halogen, etc.) generates 3412 BTUs; no more, no less. (Heat pumps are a different story, but not in the price range of portable heaters.)
    So, your handy dandy 1,500 watt portable heater cranks out maybe a bit over 5,000 BTUs per hour. Compare that to your central furnace, rated at 100,000 BTU/hr or more. Do the math. You will need to buy 20 portable heaters to replace your furnace.

      and the best part about it is absolutely no one is being held accountable. including the major platforms which should be subject to negligence charges for not vetting their ads. it's bad enough the "reputable" companies all frequently lie and pull scams, but evidently anyone can do this through the ad services. i wonder if anyone's actually experimented with that? love to see the blog post or tweet: "i bought 100 ads just to prove that absolutely no one and nothing is verifying them".

    As others here have alluded to, @Clare Ravenwood said "Shame on RUclips for allowing it" and that's what it all boils down to. I would love to see someone do a video on a list of scam adds on RUclips and/or also cover how to recognize such scams.
    Some of us recognize these scams after just a few seconds of play, but others do not, bless their hearts, and that is made obvious by the fact that they run the videos to begin with. If they didn't fool some into a purchase, they wouldn't run the ads.
    So, yeah, shame on RUclips for allowing it. I guess it would be too much to ask for youtube go against the normal thoughts on such ads, as in "It's just business" and be an example for doing the right thing and not allow their users to be subjected to these clear scams.
    Your doing a great job, Hugh, keep up the good works.

    I found your vid after searching the legitimacy of one of these products, though it was a new plot / character than you mentioned. The one I saw was a German High School kid…. After watching your vid w/the thermal imaging AND not having previously taken into consideration what might be going on w/the wiring in my walls I’ll now try to calculate how much Central would cost. I have a pretty decent size house, have all of the vents closed & towels over them (they’re floor vents), close doors to rooms I’m not using, but still didn’t want to run the central if I could get away w/heating only 1 room w/a space heater. While you calculated usage by wattage for a full 24 hr day, I only run my heater at night full blast for 30 min or so before retiring to my room then I turn it to low & set the temp knob to the middle or so. Basically, It’s not running constantly all night. I am still interested in the average kw calculations that it seemed like you were going to dive into. I’ll do more digging, but thanks to your vid I’ll save my $20+ on one of these.

      I only heat 2 out of the 4 rooms in my house except on super cold nights like below zero I have to let heat in there so pipes don't freeze. If your other parts of the house are above 50 Fahrenheit, then the pipes should be okay. My heating bill is usually under 100 for my 4 bedroom apt. Check Temps under the sink and in crawl spaces to make sure your pipes aren't in danger, or shutoff water and drain pipes in Bathrooms u don't use. Cam save a lot while not endangering the Infrastructure of your house

    • @HughsScamProducts
      @HughsScamProducts  Год назад +1

      Also a 14 dollar watt meter can help u see what your heaters are really pulling to see if your wiring is okay. Where I live almost all the houses are over 100 years old so I'm leary recommending people use then unless it's new, proper guage wiring

      @@HughsScamProducts
      My entire home is over a crawl space. my house was built in the early 90’s but there are definitely some questionable outlets. there are more than A couple that aren’t even sat flush into the wall. I’m afraid to use some of them because trying to remove the plug from the outlet is very sketchy. It pulls the entire outlet away from the wall. I don’t do electricity so I’m not about to mess with that. I did have an inspection so I would hope that the inspector checked all of the wiring in the walls. IIRC he did mention the loose outlets.
      i’ll do some more research on the cost of running central for my home if I’m only really needing heat in the bedroom. I have a gas fireplace that will heat the living room, dining room, and kitchen. I just started keeping the other doors closed.
      I’ll look into getting a want meter at Harbor freight if central proved to be too costly.
      Thanks for the information! I just subscribed to your channel and I’m watching some of your other scam videos now. I also shared with family!
