    back then was the "Butter Boy" single. I watched several videos of their
    live performances and instantly became a big, big fan. I just purchased

      Lou S I’m pretty sure the rock and roll hall of fame bases their inductions on record sales. That seems pretty biased or capitalist or whatever one would say, but if it didn’t go that way the inductions would be completely subjective and there would be many more debates about who deserves to get in. Of course media ultimately controls who you see and hear, and that’s why mostly sells the album. Vicious circle. Most important thing is that they’re noticed in some way.

    Fanny opened, and were great. Followed by Humble Pie, who we had already seen. They played a concert at my High School (those were the days). Then Lee Michaels was the main act we went to see. Great concert and went long into the night. Started at 8:00pm, and went past 2:00am. Place was packed we went to the top balcony. All the speakers were aimed at it. The music was loud and great sound. We bought some pot and had some hashish. We were 17 then, full of energy, Kings of the world. Got a little exhausted that night though. Wonderful.

      this though sounds like a prerecorded backing, with live vocals, that's how it often was on the OGWT

    Just like the Ramones being credited with creating Punk when I’m fact that distinction belongs to “Death”, the Runaways are given credit for being the first legit all girl rock band...meanwhile Fanny has already come and gone.
    This is where platforms like RUclips really shine. You don’t have to take some obscure music mag articles word for it. Here we can see that Fanny were the real thing long before most of us thought it was possible.

    • @johnwilliams9175
      @johnwilliams9175 5 лет назад +4

      Death created punk rock? Nobody was listening to them and they weren't influential at all. Claiming Los Saicos or several hundred 60s garage bands created punk makes more sense but it's still a stretch.

    • @johnwilliams9175

      Also there were many female rock bands before Fanny.

    • @imvandenh
      @imvandenh 5 лет назад

      @@johnwilliams9175 I'm sure there were a few. Were any of them any good though? I plead ignorance here but the only female rock groups I can think of before Fanny were either vocal groups, didn't play their own instruments, or just plain weren't very good.

    • @johnwilliams9175
      @johnwilliams9175 5 лет назад +2

      @@imvandenh The Liverbirds, Pleasure Seekers, Ace of Cups, Luv'ed Ones, She are all pretty decent rock bands that existed years before Fanny.

      I was bowled over first time I heard them. When I saw that this was 1971, I was stunned that this had eluded my thirst for unique talent for so many years. Even their covers are a breath of fresh air. They make them sound brand new today. Radio station management and the yes men deejays of the day handed the public the short end of the stick. Kind of like the news today?

    Something people don't appreciate was that Fanny paved the way for so many women in rock music. At that time rock was ruled by male bands with an occasional female singer. Then came Fanny and smashed the door down. They don't get the credit they deserve.
