18:03 I know the story is fictional, but I find very interesting how the mom gives away all the information about his son without a warrant, while the father is very protective.
The way I heard it, Frank Abignale is a real con artist who helped banks to design security features to prevent people like him from using the same methods, (now everything seems to be electronic), but the rest of the story is on itself, a con created by Frank to sell books, which peeked interest of Spielberg, who bought the rights to the movie, making his con even more profitable.

One of the themes Spielberg continually returns to in his movies is the theme of fatherhood. This movie is about a boy raised by a bad birth father (Christopher Walken's character) and how, after finding a good adoptive father (Tom Hanks' character), he is able to reform his life. He says to his birth father at one point, "Ask me to stop" (to stop the scamming and lying, which, by the way, his birth father initiated him into as a boy). And his father replies, "You can't stop." Then, at another point, he says to his adoptive father, "Stop chasing me!" To which his adoptive father replies, "I can't stop." In other words, his birth father refuses to discipline his son in the ways of right conduct, but his adoptive father refuses to stop disciplining his son in the ways of right conduct. That's the difference between a good father and a bad one.

@@DawnMarieX I owned the security company that secured the film location. They actually built an entire airport terminal in an enormous Palmdale, CA hanger where they (Skunkworks) developed our top secret aircraft. It had marble floors, escalators, shops, restaurants and hundreds of extras and you would swear you were in a real airport.
Steven Spielberg was afraid that pictures of it would leak before the movie came out so we had to wand everyone going in and make sure they left their phones in their cars. No pictures were leaked.
Tom Hanks is a really nice man. At the beginning of the work week he had his assistant give each of my security officers a lottery ticket. I told Tom that I could lose my entire team if they pooled and someone won I then asked Tom what size uniform he wears in case that happened. We did a great job on a lot of films but that one was our best.

What I read in an article about the movie and story is that the investigator, who was either a journalist or a self-appointed investigator of stories, was that they, the person investigating Frank's story, could find no substantial evidence whatsoever, that any of Frank's tall tale was factual. So it would seem, Frank Abignale Jr.'s biggest scam was selling this made up story to Spielberg to turn into a movie, giving Abignale a bunch of money and even more fame.

Another great reaction Marie like always. This movie its so good its one of my favourites, and what a deluxe cast. And some fun-facts about this movie, it took 22 years for the book to be turned into a movie. And Frank Abagnale admits that the story was way exaggerated. Carl Hanratty is based on several FBI agents who pursued Frank Abagnale, mostly one named Joseph Shea. If it were true-to-life, christopher walken would hardly be in this movie. In real life, Abagnale never saw his father again after he ran away. But Spielberg wanted to have Frank Jr. continue to seek his father's approval, to show up in his Pan Am uniform to impress him and seek advice from him.
Jennifer Garner only had to work for one day. Spielberg had seen Jennifer Garner on Alias and thought she was about to become a big star. He was pleased that she was willing to take such a small role in his movie, and she was probably pleased, too: it only required a day of shooting. The film’s score was composed by the legendary John Williams, known for his iconic collaborations with Spielberg. Williams’ music enhances the movie’s suspenseful moments and injects emotion into the heartfelt scenes, creating an unforgettable cinematic experience. Frank Abagnale Jr. appears in a cameo role as a French police officer in the film. I think this adds an intriguing layer of authenticity to the movie, as the audience gets a glimpse of the real-life con artist. Keep up the good work.

  • @StarkRG
    @StarkRG 7 дней назад

1:51 "No way it's a true story." So, there's multiple layers to this. The movie made a handful of small alterations from the book. The real Abagnale claims the biographer made up significant portions of the book. Pretty much everything we know Abagnale has claimed has questionable veracity (no record of passing the bar exam) and some have even been shown to be impossible or clear fabrications (such as claiming to have been in prison when records clearly show he wasn't). In short, it's a movie that takes liberties with a half-invented biography based on an interview full of lies. It's a really fun movie, though.

Just want to put in a suggestion for when you get back to doing Westerns. "The Long Riders" is a really cool movie about Frank and Jesse James, and The Younger Brothers, and some others. Three sets of real criminal brothers, played by three sets of real actor brothers. I don't think that has been done in any other movie. Very much worthy of YOUR TIME, and ours.

    Hey Dawn!
    Looking wonderful!
While this is a good movie, the greatest lie that Frank ever told was, in fact, the story he told that was then made into this movie.
By the way, it's not your fault that you thought this was a movie based on a true story, even Steven Spielberg, who directed it thought the same at the time, as did pretty much anyone who watched it.
The movie has, since then, to be a hoax story in itself.
It began when Frank was on a TV show.
The idea of the game show was that there would be three people, each telling of some job the did and some remarkable things that would happen.
Two of them would lie while one of them would be telling the truth.
The contestants then had to guess who the truth teller was.
Of course, Frank's story was the one that was made into this movie.
So, in reality, all three people on the show had lied.
Because of that show, though, Frank would be interviewed by a great many people, often famous ones, and he, of course, became a hit!
The attention and money he got meant that he couldn't reveal the lie as that fane and money would all end.
As mentioned, since then, it has been proven that it was all mostly a lie.
Still, it did make for an interesting movie even though the story itself was the hoax!
    A great reaction as always!
Have a Really wonderful day, take care! ❤

Hi Dawn. Been enjoying your reactions for months now but this is my first time writing. If you enjoyed this movie, "Catch Me . . .", an absolutely fun solid "con movie", there are many more better. Create your own reaction sub-genre, darlin! (Con movies being a sub-genre of crime movies.) The best of the best, in my humble opinion, is "The Sting." After that, "Matchstick Men", "Paper Moon" and "The Grifters" (the latter of which is quite dark.) Alongside those would be, also amazing but absolutely comedy crazy funny "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels." Start with The Sting and go from there :) Keep up the fun work 😃
