Why do I never see a Hawes to Leyburn drive along the opposite side of the valley, going via Hardraw, Askrigg, Carperby, and Redmire ? In many ways it's more scenic than taking the main road.
Thanks for the question. For me it is easier to drive along a road number, therefore easier for people to find and follow. I agree the others side is a nicer drive though. Perhaps something for me to experiment with next year.
@@davy-downtheroad I can easily understand your reasoning, though personally I find Dales "lesser roads" far more interesting, both as a driving experience and for what you find along the way. My wife & I often take these roads & intentionally "get lost" on voyages of discovery, just to see what we might find.
