    • @NomaranTheAlchemist
      @NomaranTheAlchemist 10 месяцев назад +7

Well...that's the cliff notes version but to clarify I can explain a little bit more in detail. Although it would be considered a terrorist attack but what happened at the start was an order given by the kid in the spiderbot named Porky (Yes thats his name) after Ness blew up the Porky Statue, that one kid alone is the whole cause of Lucas's trauma from the beginning as he was the one responsible for sending his army to take over Nowhere Islands (Lucas's home) and in doing so he caused the deaths of Hinawa (His Mother) and Claus (His Brother) through his actions. And the justification was that he did it out of sheer boredom and he wanted to make the wildlife "Cooler" by altering the Wildlife to grotesque abominations and mechanical hybrids ultimately ruining the enviroment. The loss of both his wife and child drove Lucas's father to a downward spiral of depression that lead him down to tracking down the body of his dead child without knowing that Porky's army found his body and ultimately reanimating his corpse with technology and made him his enforcer to ensure total dominance over his "Subjects" and eventually he turned the people of Nowhere Island who were once simple folk that were like family into cold and calloused people who would just do things just because they get paid to do so despite the fact that Porky ultimately wanted to destroy the world just so anyone who did not agree with him would disappear and then nearly caused the end of the world. And to further emphasize this, he did this at a sheer whim and boredom and had he had the chance to do it over again he would have done it in a heartbeat. Porky is true evil incarnate and the worst part is that he's immortal due to a side effect of time travel from the previous game he had a minor role in (Earthbound "US" or Mother 2 "Japan").
TL:DR - Porky is an evil bastard who is the blame for everything terrible thing that has happened to Lucas and is why he is very timid and scared. But Lucas is a good-hearted kid.

Making a list of things you may have been confused about:
-Pit, the angel can only fly if he's given the power by his goddess lady Palutena, the one who gave him the bow.
-The toon link cutscene was a little out of place due to him being a secret character, and not actually part of the story. You just unlock him through the story gamemode. This goes for Wolf, as well as Jigglypuff
-Wolf is one of Fox's main enemies
-Ness and Lucas are from the Earthbound series, which was very popular in Japan
-Marth and Ike are from the Fire Emblem series, also a very popular Japanese title
-The spilt videos are due to different choices you make throughout the story
-Falco is part of Fox's fleet/crew or whatever. They aren't in this game, but the same goes for Slippy Toad and Peppy Hare
-The dragon Samus and Pikachu fight is Ridley, one of Samus's main enemies from her games
-Olimar is from the Pikmin series
-The ship fighting Meta Knight's is the Corneria, Fox's main Ship when he isn't using the arwing ship
-The ice climbers are from a very old game with the same name. The blue one is Popo and the pink one is his sister Nana
-Lucario is a pokemon who can read the aura's of others. That's how he knows snake isn't an enemy when they meet.
-It's not really a secret, but Shiek is Zelda
-The black and white guy is Mr. Game and Watch, named after the console he first appeared in back in 1980
-R.O.B stands for Robotic Operatic Buddy, and was an Accessory for 2 games on the NES system in 1985. Fun fact, one of the games involved Gyros, or spinning tops, which was incorporated into his moveset in game as his Down Special
-Between the Wario Cutscene and the sonic one, there is actually a lot of gameplay. Tabuu basically creates a massive maze with all the areas that have been black holed in which you have to go through and collect every one as trophies, and beat every boss over again, as well as the shadow versions of certain characters. Once everything has been completed, you get to Tabuu through a massive door and get the reveal of Sonic... even though he was revealed as part of the advertisement for the game iirc...
-The Tabuu fight allows you to pick any character in the game. The sonic cutscene is there to let you know that you can now play as him.
-I'm not too caught up on the lore of why Tabuu did what he did unfortunately
-You are correct that Ancient Minister did have a change of heart. He got real sad seeing his fellow ROBs die :(
    I hope this helped :D

I believe Tabuu wanted to make a collection out of the Fighters and their world. That's why he used Master Hand as a puppet. To lead everyone right to him.
Also, to those who don't know, that move that Tabuu used to wipe everyone out can pretty much actually knock you off-screen instantly. So yeah, from a gameplay standpoint, it's _that_ deadly. (And I did not know how to dodge by that point, not until Smash 4, anyway. So yeah, this boss was just very, very painful for me and my brother. And even then, it's one of the hardest Nintendo bosses anyway.)

    • @devonm042690
      @devonm042690 Год назад +22

Master Hand represents a child's imagination applied to creating. Crazy Hand represents that same child's imagination applied to destroying their creations. Tabuu represents the societal idea that growing up means leaving those things behind. That's best displayed in Tabuu's reveal, where it's got Master Hand restrained, stopping it from moving. For later games, I'm not sure what Master Core from Smash 4 represents, but Galeem and Dharkon represent stifling corporate higher-ups and toxic fans, respectively.

  • @IGN_OFFClAL

You are correct, in the Finale, there is a very large scale boss with Tabuu where you choose multiple characters from all the ones you saved so far. The credits are actually really epic, and I kind of wish they included them as a cap off... as this kinda just ended.
during the fight he actually attempts the wave attack again, and if you miss a very tricky dodge, chances are you lose 1 character instantly.

  • @MrMeddyman
    @MrMeddyman Год назад +28

The end isn't cutscene-heavy because you unlock all the characters and can build any team you want, but after all that you just run through all the levels again but remixed and way more difficult until the final battle with Tabuu. Makes way more sense if you play it.

    Random facts:
    - The giant airship at the beginning is called the Halberd, which is owned by Meta Knight.
    - The green giant snake thing that Diddy Kong and Fox fights is Raquaza, a legendary Pokémon.
    - The purple things that form into enemies are called Shadow Bugs.
    - Lucas is from MOTHER 3, a game in the Earthbound series (same series as Ness). It's infamously known as one of the few Nintendo games that never got localized for western players. Lucas has similar powers to Ness as well.
    - The giant statue thing and the mecha-spider thing are controlled by a person named Porky, who is the main antagonist of the Earthbound series.
    - The two guys with the sword that Meta Knight is paired up with are from Fire Emblem. Marth comes from the first game, which never got a western release at the time.
    - The reason King Dedede for turning fighters into trophies is mentioned in the Brawl website. He's actually trying save them from the Subspace black holes, hence the little brooches he puts on them.
    - Toon Link, Wolf & Jigglypuff were supposed to have a role in the story but they were late in development.
    - Lucario is a Pokémon introduced in the fourth generation of the series, which was recent at the time of Brawl's release.
    - In the same year when Sonic was announced as a character in Smash, Sega and Nintendo worked on a crossover licensed by the Olympic committee where Mario and Sonic competed in the Olympic Games.
    - Olimar is from the Pikmin series. He is basically a space explorer. The little guys that follow him are called Pikmin and are loyal to Olimar to let him throw them at enemies.

Fun Fact: Pit comes from the Kid Icarus franchise. But the Kid Icarus games were from Classic Nintendo games on the NES and N64. To incorporate Pit into Smash, Masuhiro Sakurai (Smash’s and Kirby’s creator) completely changed his design and abilities to what you see in the Cutscenes. A new Kid Icarus game called Kid Icarus Uprising was then released on the Nintendo 3DS, using this new design and giving the franchise a breath of new life with its story, which is very comedic and uses a lot of meta jokes and 4th wall breaks. I would recommend either watching the Kid Icarus Uprising Cutscenes or the Palutena’s Guidance Easter Eggs that were included in Smash 4!
Edit: R.O.B. Was actually a real life Nintendo Product back in the NES days. It was known as the Robotic Operating Buddy and was a toy accessory for the NES, which was meant to be intractable when playing games. In the Brawl story, the Main R.O.B. takes the role of the Ancient Minister and Ganondorf forces its friends/companions to be sacrifices when using the Bombs. Something R.O.B. begins to be against and it’s what ultimately leads to it to revolt.

The most he can do without her help is glide, and flap his wings a few time for a bit of air

    • @lucasinazumai9873

And this was explained way after Brawl came out since Pit never had a game since Kid Icarus until Uprising came out and showed what happens when Pit flies for too long. A parallel to the actual story Icarus where in his own hubris, Icarus flew too close to the sun because he wanted to fly higher, but ended up falling after his wings were burnt/ the adhesive melted off, depending on the source I've read up about. Though unlike Icarus, Pit prolong the use of Palutena's power of flight for good despite being warned that it would do irreversable damage to his wings.

But for the Sonic scene, none of the characters are needed. When you fight Tabuu, you have six lives instead of four, and if you didn't save anyone, you are left with six characters: Dedede, Ness, Luigi, Kirby, Bowser and Sonic.

These cutscenes were great. Especially the charge for the portal and kirby taking out the cannon. It was such a bad ass moment. R.O.B is a like accessory that went with the Nintendo entertainment system. His story arc was basically he and the rest of the robs follow their orders and resign themselves to their fate. R.O.B is beginning to feel bad for doing this and seeing the fellow robs die. Culminating in rob finally turning and trying to convince the rest to stop. They're pretty much like it's too late for us. And Rob is so sad it's gotta be carried out. He fights for them now. That's my take on it. The brawl cutscenes do an amazing job showcasing everyone's personality without words. Like how Lucas is a scared kid but Ness is confident. I loved watching Lucas's growth. From taking that first step in wanting to change and save Ness by following pokemon trainer. He grows more confident while traveling with him. And comes full circle when he saves them from the robot blowing up.

The Subspace Emissary was probably one of the most interesting aspects of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
"Fox confronts Rayquaza," "Ike unleashes Aether," and "The Two Captains" are some of my favorite cutscenes. I do have to admit that the scene where Peach gives Fox and Sheik tea is hilarious.
(Rayquaza was the creature that attacked Diddy Kong. It is a Pokemon and was the box art legendary of Pokemon Emerald. I figured I'd point this out.)

Absorb all of these worlds to itself. Its sort of abstract but there is a simple storyline behind all the super smash bros games, which is letting the imagination run wild and take this beloved franchises and enjoy them with our imagination, like how master hand made them fight in the first time, like most of us did as kids back in the day.
Tabuu could be interpreted as adulthood, where we reject things of our childhood because its not appropiate to enjoy them anymore, so Tabuu took the magic off of master hand and made the characters trophies, to put them in the proverbial shelf as yes, something you once cared about but its not appropiate to enjoy anymore, so you put the toys away, never to touch them again.
You can see that Tabuu looks like an adult, and he has a closed body language, as if he is resentful and/or embarrased about these characters, and he is like a god, just like how Master hand made the toys come to life in the 1st Smash bros.
Tabuu (Adulthood) has taken control of Master Hand (Childlike wonder) and has it chained and trapped to do its bidding, which is lure in everyone to erase all these magical worlds, and lastly, Tabuu (which sounds like Taboo) captures these worlds in bubbles keeps them around himself, like he still needs to ocassionaly be a part of these worlds, but he cant be seen enjoying these games.
But he still begs for help, placing stairs, giving his former friends, the characters, a chance to defeat him.

Its an incredibly, complicated project, and a lot of resposibility, getting so much hate every time a character appeared or didnt appear or became a Mii Costume instead of an actual character. I do see how these worlds may end up "absorbing" Sakurai and making him feel like that. But he still shows the love to this franchise.
He did go all out on his last game, SSB Ultimate where they touched on the idea of how sometimes even if we dont have certain toys when we were kids, we just made believe that they were other things that we imagined.
Im the trailer, there was a flame in the form of a smash bros symbol. And that flame awakened the characters once more. In the last DLC, we see that flame go out and the characters go back to being trophies in the dark. A park from the flame remained though, and that spark was actually the keyblade, used to summon Sora.
To me, Sora was the las character for a reason, and that is becausw Sora is the representative of Disney in the Smash Bros roster, Disney being that very same spirit of child wonder, and Sora awakens all the characters and its the only charcter that doesnt get in a fight in his trailer, but ends up doing a handshake with Mario.
So, as long as that spirit can rekindle, the characters can come back to life again.

The Kids in the striped shirts (Ness and Lucas), the sentient statue, and the guy in the Spider bed (Known as Porky Minch) are all from the Mother series (Known as Earthbound in the west). Both are able to use ESP power.
Ness is the Protagonist of the game Earthbound (also known Mother 2 in JP) for the Super Nintendo.
Lucas is the main Protagonist of Mother 3. A game for the Gameboy Advance Which never got released outside of Japan, but it does have a complete translated English version available online.
The statue is also from Mother 3 and is a optional boss encounter in a place called New Pork City and each hit it takes only does 1 HP of damage unless you have a certain item that can destroy it immediately.
Porky Minch (guy in spider bed) appeared in both Earthbound and Mother 3. He was a secondary antagonist in Earthbound (where Ness appeared) that tried to help the main antagonist, Giygas, destroy the world. He was still a child (13 years old) in the game however. In Mother 3 (where Lucas appeared), he was the main antagonist that managed to take over the island Lucas inhabited and turn the animals into half cyborg (one of which ended up killing his and his Twin brother's mother) , make a currency after him, made a city after his legacy, and managed to brainwash Lucas' twin brother against him. However, the reason he's in the spider bed is due to excessive amounts of time travel and that didn't do anything good to his body and now he's between 1000 to 10000 years in Mother 3.
    Edit to add:
Although there are no character references to the first Mother game, There is an item called the Franklin badge that appeared in the first game.
And about both Ness and Lucas using that thunder move (Known as PK Thunder), they actually don't use it in their origin games. They're used by other party members.

And now welcome to "Who's that character!"
Pit - Hero of the old NES game "Kid Icarus" and is Brawl's retro character, and because of this, was eventually given a brand new game on the 3DS. And no, he can't fly on his own, only able to when assisted by a goddess and only for 5 minutes at a time otherwise his wings will burn up.
Lucas - Protagonist of Mother 3, a game that has yet to be released outside of Japan (Despite the first two being released world wide as "Earthbound"). His story is a largely sad one, losing both his twin brother and mother pretty much at the start of the game, and because of this and added survivors guilt, put him in a state of depression, hence how he is in his introduction.
Ness - Protagonist of Earthbound/Mother 2. Not much to say here. Unlike Lucas, Ness is a silent protagonist and doesn't have nearly as much baggage as his successor.
"Pterodactyl" - Ridley, reoccurring Metroid villain and Samus' arch-enemy. Despite his monstrous appearance, Ridley is the leader of the Space Pirates and is as intelligent as he is sadistic. Not only is he responsible for the death of Samus' parents, he even implied he ate her mother's corpse. Despite Samus being skilled enough to take him down for good, Ridley always finds a way to keep coming back and cause more problems for the bounty hunter, earning the nickname "The Cunning God of Death".
Olimar - Protagonist of Pikmin, after crash landing on a post-apocalypse Earth, Olimar commanded Pikmin with his whistle and used them collect the scattered parts of his ship so he could safely return home. In Pikmin 2, he returns to find treasures to save the company he works for from severe financial debt.
Now, the reason Sonic comes out of nowhere at the end is because he was one of the last characters put in the game and they had already finished most of Subspace Emissary, meaning there was really nowhere else to put him. This is also why Toon Link, Jigglypuff, and Wolf have no connection to the story, as their cutscene can only be seen after finishing the story, because they were the last 3 characters to make it into the game.

Yeah, this game was great. The cutscenes are great in that they help move the story, but I wish that you guys could see a bit of the actual gameplay at certain moments. (Ex: Metal Ridley chasing captain falcons ship out of the station in the high-speed chase) because the music for these levels is what really makes the game all the better. Also, a small tidbit about the 'master hand' & 'tabuu' guy. master hand in the previous smash games was essentially the person who is playing with all of the characters, that's why when they got knocked out they turn into figurines. and tabuu is pretty much a god amongst men character they introduced to bring everybody back together even if the master hand was dead. All in all great game, lots of memories, and a great video!

...Man, back in the day, when I first saw Zelda and Link agree to revive Ganondorf, it was my first experience in "good guys and bad guys work together against greater threats". It was so alien to me, and yet I loved every second of it. I'd go out of my way to play the three of them at all times in the remaining parts of the story mode. Being a Ganondorf Main at the time, I usually played him, with Zelda as my second and Link as my third. As a fourth, I generally brought Capt. Falcon or Snake.
Still, seeing Link and Zelda bring back Ganondorf for the fight awakened a small thing inside me to want a game where you either play as Ganondorf, or more akin to a JRPG style, kinda like Super Mario RPG, where Ganondorf is brought into the fold against Demise or something.
    To expand on that, for any nerds like me;
    I think my thought at the time was that most JRPGs have 7 characters. So, we'd have three with Ganondorf, Link, and Zelda... Who would be the others? Twilight Princess being my favorite of all time, and their designs in Brawl being of TP's timeline, I thought on who from that would work best as allies for the group. As well as "character types" for each;
    Ganondorf - Heavy-Hitting, Slow Tank
    Link - All-Arounder
    Zelda - Support/Red Mage
    Midna - Black Mage
Zant - High-Damage, Fast, but Squishy
    Agitha - Support/Green/Blue Mage
But then I generally ran out of ideas...
I tried filling in the last slots with Darbus, the Resistance, a Zora like the Queen or Prince, and so on. My main thought would be that Ashei and her Resistance could take up a slot. Telma, Auru, Ashei, Shad, and Rusl. But I thought they'd work best as supporting characters... Darbus makes some sense, but the team already has a Tank in Ganondorf. Prince Rallis didn't make any sense, as he isn't a fighter...
So on and so forth through my mind. I think I eventually settled on either Ashei or Rusl getting that last slot. Regardless, thank you to any fool that read through the entire thing.

For me, King Dedede is the MVP of this story (bit biased XD). I'm so proud of his character growth in the games. From central-antagonist to a supporting protagonist. Once a villain now turned into one of the heroes of Dreamland. At this point, its a Kirby trope where King Dedede will be initially portrayed as a villain only to find out he's not XD.
During the scene where he was giving the pins, I cannot help but smile when he just gave his own even though he knew what will happen if he didn't have one. In the past, he will not do that and will prioritize himself.
I might misheard it but were you talking about Sheik suddenly appearing? I haven't played any Zelda games so I don't know if I'm right but I'm assuming that maybe that was Zelda in disguise? I mean, Zelda disappear just as Sheik appears in the same place Zelda was in. That and Peach was smiling in such a meaningful way.
Yeah its hard to get invested sometimes when you don't know some of the characters. Like I HEARD of them but its still hard to not get confuse and be interested on a cutscene because at the end of the day I don't really know their character background. Thankfully I know most of them so I could still enjoy seeing the characters from different franchise meeting up and interacting with one another.
Now I almost want for you two to react on some lore of games from nintendo just so I could see your reaction while also watching and learning other lores with you XD. I can always tell someone's rough age range by if they compare ROB to Wall-E or to Johnny 5 from Short Circuit.
It's always funny to see people underestimate what Peach is capable of. Not only is she strong in Smash (she and ROB were my mains in this game and I beat Tabuu with her--without touching the ground! It was awesome!), in various Mario games she's got a ton of magic power including the ability to summon a torrent of bombs, and in her own game, Super Princess Peach, she's effectively a Zen master with the power to weaponize her emotions. People got really gross about that though, and kept calling it a "PMS joke", which is super uncomfortable.
The pterodactyl, as people have said, is Ridley, the "cunning god of death" who killed not only Samus's parents but her entire colony. Ridley was a very popular character that people wanted to be added to Smash as a playable character, but it was also believed that he was "too big", even though in the Metroid series his size changes from game to game. He was the third new character added to Ultimate (after Inkling and Daisy), and his splash screen was "Ridley hits the big time!". He also killed Mario and Mega Man in his reveal trailer. It was great.
Lucario's ability to see auras--essentially soul energy--enabled it to determine ally from foe. Though this means that Primids have souls despite being constructs, which raises a bunch of questions. Trainers with Lucarios are thought to be rather heroic, as Lucarios are said to refuse to serve any trainer it doesn't view as noble. Which also raises a bunch of questions since there's a notable Pokemon villain (no I won't tell you which one you'll just have to play the games yourselves) who has one. Considering Lucario's spiritual energy and how they get stronger the closer they are to being defeated, they're often compared to Goku, and in the Pokemon anime movie that featured Lucario, they even had the same voice actor as Goku! He plays Lucario in later Smash games as well (in Brawl it was played by someone else though).
This story mode led to a very unusual twist in the realm of English literature! For a while there, the longest written work in the English language was a Smash Bros fanfic called The Subspace Emissary's Worlds Conquest, with over four MILLION words. It was started because the author, a native Spanish speaker, wanted to improve his English skills.

Tabuu is the embodiment of Subspace who plotted to transport areas of the World of Trophies into Subspace for his world. However, he himself cannot leave Subspace, which is why he created the Subspace Army to act in his stead. Tabuu took over the Isle of the Ancients, the home of the R.O.B.s and forced them to serve him under the threat of annihilation. Tabuu first discovered that Mr. Game & Watch had Shadow Bugs in him and captured him to harness the power and thus the Subspace Army was born. Tabuu studied and took control of the master of the world, Master Hand, and used his powers to control him like a puppet. Tabuu used Master Hand to enlist the help of Bowser, Ganondorf and Wario. These three were sent to hunt down any fighters that would stand in the way of Tabuu's plans, while remaining unaware of Tabuu's existence. However, King Dedede learned the truth about Tabuu and began interfering with his plans.[1]
Later in the story, after the heroes destroy the Subspace Gunship and enter Subspace, Ganondorf betrays Bowser by blasting him with a Dark Cannon. Ganondorf then goes to greet Master Hand, but soon discovers Tabuu's control over him and realizes he was tricked. Enraged, he charges a futile attack at Tabuu, who effortlessly knocks him away and causes him to land on Master Hand, freeing him from Tabuu's control (and turning Ganondorf into a trophy in the process). Now freed, Master Hand also attempts to fight back, but to no avail. After Master Hand is defeated, Tabuu uses his Off Waves to turn everyone into trophies as soon as they approach. With the only threats to his plans seemingly neutralized, a satisfied Tabuu then creates a maze out of the areas that were transported into Subspace. However, thanks to the Dedede Brooches, two trophies who had been left behind - Luigi and Ness - were later revived and they proceed to revive Dedede himself after Ness realized that it was thanks to him that they were restored. Dedede joins their team and they rescue everyone, including Bowser, who had a fight with Dedede and soon joined the team when he learned about Master Hand's defeat. Around the same time, Kirby was revived by the brooch the captured princess had when he swallowed it and went out on his own to save the rest of the fighters, between the characters, there are Wario and Link and Zelda, the latter of which revive Ganondorf and suggest him to join them, which he begrudgingly agrees, Wario does as well and all the characters enter to the maze and battling the remainder of Tabuu's forces that reside within it. Upon reaching Tabuu, he attempts to turn everyone back into trophies again, but is ambushed by Sonic, who destroys his wings before he can do so. As a result, Tabuu's Off Waves are weakened, becoming "only" a one-hit KO attack instead of causing immediate trophification for any fighter in reach.A selection of characters from Sonic, Bowser, Kirby, Luigi's group and those revived by these two groups (first: Luigi, Ness and King Dedede; second: Kirby), then fight Tabuu. After his defeat, the Subspace Army is gone, the areas consumed by Subspace are restored and the Isle of the Ancients disappears afterwards because of the effect of so many Subspace Bombs going off at once (commanded by Ganondorf so Tabuu could get a Subspace Gunship into the world) making it impossible for the island to escape Subspace. A luminous cross is left in its place.
Tabuu is last seen contorting in pain shortly before the Great Maze was restored to its original places and forms. The events of World of Light suggest he survived.

So fun fact: Marth and Ike are from the same franchise of Fire Emblem but don’t technically meet eachother as they’re from different “worlds” per se. The scene where Marth overlooks the castle is a nice touch because in his original game he’s the Hero-king that was once exiled and it’s reminiscent of how he was the prince of Altea, but like I said was forced to leave his homeland. Also when he draws his sword and you can see only the tip shining is a nice thing to see as in the smash bros franchise the tip of his sword nearly doubled his damage and in the Fire Emblem series, the Falchion (his sword), was meant to slay dragons. Originally Marth was meant to deal even more damage to Bowser and Ridley (in later installments) because of the special capability for it to slay dragons. Obviously the idea was scrapped but it’s still a nice thing to note to pay homage to a very old and controversial game series. (Doesn’t change the fact that it’s my favorite ^-^)

Captain Olimar is so funny, in the Pikmin games he is actually the size of a bottle cap and the pikmin the size of ants. Their size were of course accounted for, but whats even more funny is that Captain Olimar isn’t actually a captain. He is just a salary man trying to feed his family but one day while out at work his spaceship gets struck by an asteroid and crash lands on Earth, where by that point all humans have gone extinct and whats left is strange creatures including friendly ones being the pikmin who he plants like flowers and can recruit and command…like a captain. He is then forced to gather all of the missing parts of his ship to get back home.

YESSS i’ve been waiting for you guys to watch this!! i love this game so much, i played the story mode to death when i was a kid. a couple fun facts:
    - fox and falco both have scouters (now that you’re more caught up on dbz that has some more significance!)
    - pit the angel actually can’t fly without the assistance of his goddess (she basically has to fly him like a drone) and if he flies for too long his wings burn up! hence the game title ‘kid icarus’.
    - sheik is zelda’s ninja disguise! she originally created it to hide from ganondorf, so the big plot twist is that zelda is an insane martial artist.
    - the dragon at 31:07 and 41:52 is ridley, samus’ recurring nemesis. he looks like a wild beast, but he’s actually very intelligent and even capable of speech. he’s a cruel and cunning space pirate and he, uh. killed samus’ parents in front of her. she keeps killing him and he keeps coming back as a clone or cyborg or mutation.
    - for the last battle against tabuu, you can select any character from the entire cast to play as but my god. that boss battle is HARD. he has a bunch of attacks that are near impossible to dodge and a Lot of health. i’m kind of sad the cutscenes don’t convey how intense that battle is, because it took my brother and i like a billion tries to beat him.
great video as always, glad you enjoyed and hope you’re having a good day 💚💚

Not gonna lie: after all those times Mario jumped off Yoshi's head, seeing Pit use Mario's head as a trampoline felt like karma.
Also, ok, they needed a cool entrance and all... but there is no way for Fox to defeat Rayquaza like that!
There was a cool rap by Falconshield about SMASH, you could check that.

Since I know most people will talk about how crazy the crossover is imma tell another fun fact. R.O.B was originally a toy for then NES back then and R.O.B stands for Robotic Operating Buddy. Also if you are confused on the story Tabuu Can only appear and is stuck in the subspace (All the blackholes and what not) so his goal was to get all the main worlds into one so he can bring everyone into his world.
Now I may be wrong at some stuff with the story but thats how I view it

Great video guys, I loved it. I also wanted to clarify some things to make it easier to understand the story:
19:27 the split screens here depend on which princess’s cage you damage more in the boss battle against Petey Piranha at the beginning of the game. You save Zelda, Wario takes Peach and vice versa. Then Bowser takes the other princess as well as the one Wario turned into a trophy and then the two stories merge back to original when Snake, Meta Knight and Lucario find both of them caged up on the Halberd ship by Bowser. Yes, for some reason, any character that Bowser turns into a trophy, he will lock them up somewhere for no reason lol, hence why we saw Donkey Kong chained up on the floating island. Ngl, when we lose a character, we tend to forget about them as the story progresses but luckily they are saved in the end and are not forgotten about.
Ganondorf, Bowser and Wario are the three main villains of the story. Master Hand is the boss of these 3 guys, giving orders to them. Ganondorf is the commander and leads Bowser and Wario. Bowser is tasked with turning anyone into trophies that seem like they would interfere with Master Hand’s plan, and he was the only loyal servant in the subspace army, hence why he express great sadness seeing master hand defeated. Wario played the same role as Bowser but just did it for fun and didn’t care much about who he was working for. But Master Hand was only a front for Tabuu, the true main bad guy, hence why the villains end up teaming up with the heroes as they are mad to have been manipulated by Tabuu the entire time. Tabuu also used the “dick” minister to drag pieces of the real world into subspace by using the bombs. and the minister was threatened by Tabuu to do this
The final act of the game in Subspace where everyone gets turned into trophies, we don’t see them freed in cutscene as Luigi, Dedede, Ness and Kirby on his own, free them in the actual gameplay levels, including Wario who was a trophy after Lucas & the trainer fought him. BUT, you don’t get the extra end cutscene with Wario if you don’t free him in the level. And if you don’t free Link and Zelda both in the level, you don’t get the cutscene where they free Ganondorf. That’s why we see Wario, Link and Zelda revived in cutscenes because it happens in the level, in case you were confused about that.
Also, the random Toon Link, Jigglypuff and Wolf cutscenes are not part of the actual story since these were the last 3 characters added to the game so there was no time to find a role for them in the story so they are bonus unlocks after you beat the story. Plus, Toon Link wouldn’t fit in the story either since him and Link are two separate character slots, yet technically the same person so how would they both be in the same place in an actual story mode, you know?
And finally, King Dedede seemed like a bad guy at first but he was the real hero of the story, he somehow found out about Tabuu’s ability to turn everyone into trophies so he created the badges able to revive anyone on a timer without the help of someone else, but to test this, he needed trophies which is why he knocked out Luigi and stole Ness and a princess from Wario. He was even seen taken good care of them, dusting off Ness and looking very happy. Wario and Bowser were reckless with their trophies however. Ganondorf found out about this and ordered Bowser to ambush him since he was turning everyone into trophies for the wrong reasons.

MatPat provides a really interesting take on the situation that I think you'd enjoy.

8:28 Pit can't actually fly on his own, he needs the aid of a god or goddess to actually fly, however if he uses it too much it can literally burn his wings off. Yeah its weird how the Angel kid can't physically fly on his own but that's why he isn't flying.

Oh jeez! Well, I'm ready to strap in to this ride. Loved this as a kid and not a reaction I was anticipating, but let's go!
6 minutes in, and I'm thinking I would LOVE to watch you two do a playthrough together of Subspace Emissary. The adventure mode that all of these scenes are from is 2-player and is a really fun 2D platformer with smash bros. controls. Watching you two play coop sounds like a really good time; I would gladly watching a full playthrough of it.
13:23 Been a long time since I watched these cutscenes all at once, but seeing these scene transitions like that, I just hear Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged's "Meanwhile, Thousands of Miles Away..."
21:56 Ok, since this is how these are being incorporated into the edit; Toon Link, Jigglypuff, and Wolf are not part of the story. They are in the post-game, and you unlock them by going back to these 3 specific stages and going into these new doors that are located somewhere in the level. It looks like Profasia put the cutscenes in where the stage is, though I can certainly see how that'd be confusing on a narrative level.
22:16 OK! Here's something that gets lost in the lack of dialogue. It's not explained well here, but thankfully, Nintendo released an explanation on the website a while after the game had come out. Keep in mind, I haven't read it in a long time, so details might be iffy, but here we go. King Dedede was originally part of the villains side, so he knew the entire plan with Subspace. He disagreed with it and went rogue. His taking of statues and placing of badges was actually him playing the long game. Those badges are actually timers that, after a certain amount of time had passed (and assuming they'd been overtaken by subspace by then), would activate and de-statue the characters attached. Unfortunately, Dedede only had 3 badges. At this particular scene, this was Dedede realizing he was one short and the only one remaining was the one for himself. The look he gives here is him accepting that he'll sacrifice his possibility of waking up by giving the badge to Zelda/Peach. That said, Dedede: MVP.
32:00 Your reaction here tells me that I also desire a playthrough of Pikmin from you two. If just a cutscene of them dying gets that from you, I can't imagine what a full game of trying to keep them alive would do.
42:10 Another part that gets kind of lost here. That particular subspace hole (whatever you wanna call it) is freaking massive because Ganondorf had sooooo many bombs go off. The reason for this is to make a gateway from subspace large enough for the very large cannon to come out.
44:07 "Kirby just blew up the Death Star." Thank you for that laugh. Admittedly, I'm sitting like a little b**** with tears in my eyes from pure nostalgia, so I greatly appreciate the opportunity to laugh.
48:40 First of all, well done inferring what I'd said at 22:16. Second, while I'm sure you can piece it together, before this cutscene is an entire stage through subspace where you grab characters trophies along the way. It's actually possible to get to the final level with only Dedede, Ness, Luigi, and Kirby. This particular scene (and the unlocking of Ganondorf) is only possible if you found both Link and Zelda. But yeah, that's why characters are inexplicably coming back between cutscenes.
50:20 Two things here. 1. This last subspace hole, the big one, was actually so massive that, when it went away, the Isle of the Ancients (which is where the bomb factory, Samus's suit, etc. all were) got wiped out. 2. It was seen back at Marth's introduction, but much more prominently here, the large X in the light. In Japan, Brawl was called "Smash Bros. X," so there's actually quite a bit of X imagery throughout.
I really enjoyed your reactions to this. Yeah, after Sonic shows up (and yes, he does come in very abruptly at the end), you have a full battle with Tabuu and it is...all over the place, quite literally. I think profasia put the splitscreen because this isn't necessarily meant as a full movie (which it could definitely serve as), but just a compilation of EVERY possible cutscene in the game. It is a shame, though, that the credits weren't included, because the music and the entire credits sequence is fantastic. Speaking of fantastic, the last level is actually my favorite in the entire Subspace Emissary. I'm sure you noticed all of the orbs around Tabuu when the stairs formed and everything. Those were actually all of the locations that had been overtaken by the Subspace bombs. The final level is called "The Great Maze" and is one MAAAAASSIVE level that combines all of those locations. It's big enough that it needs a map and has 4 save/healing spots in it. Again, I would gladly watch an entire playthrough of the game in coop from you two. Also, ROB is actually not a character, but a real life accessory. Back in the 80's, for the original Nintendo system, there was a peripheral called "Robot Operating Buddy" that could act as a player 2 for 2 specific games. It did not do well, but it a treasured part of Nintendo's history. Anyway, again, loved your reaction, and if you took the time to read this freakin' liveblog of a comment, thank you, and I look forward to whatever comes next.

I loved King Dedede’s role in the story since it mirrors how he used to be in older Kirby games. He did evil things but with good intentions and just refuses to elaborate why due to being greedy, lazy, and just not thinking people would trust him.
He had special pins made so that if he ever got turned into a statue he would eventually wake back up and made extras to help preserve some people in case he needs assistance later. He gave away his safety pin to Peach/Zelda because deep down, he is a good guy. He wants the greater good, mostly because it keeps him safe, and I find him a very fun character. He even loves and respects Kirby as his rival/buddy and worries for his safety when necessary, they’re great.
