We had twins 6 weeks early, and after a 5 week hospitalization before birth for precautionary measures and a 6 week hospitalization for the babies afterwards for post natal care, we went to pay the expense bill and found out we made over $6,000 after the pregnancy care, births, and post natal care were taken out. Speak facts, not just what you would like to hear.

Her "birth allowance" was not nearly enough to cover her pregnancy and expenses, and she ended up paying a fair amount out of pocket. Japan's problem is that they have no incentive to have kids. Women want independence and for the most part are expected to quit their jobs if they have a baby, and men want traditional house wives. Also, most people are overworked - creating the want / need for escapism into hobbies (eg. Anime, music, idols). People get obsessed with their hobbies and lose desire for real relationships. They need to make births cheaper (Australia even paid people to have babies), make child care easier for mum to get ( you pretty much need a job before having a baby to get child care. It's hard to have a baby then find a job) and have stricter rules about over working.
Accessible (and quality) child care and encouraging employers to grant part time are probably the most efficient incentives. And a paid parental leave that is worth its name. Next step: make it normal that the father also works part time.
And yea, Trevor is so 😉👍 lol He’s really smart too. I’m glad he got this gig. His stand up is fantastic also, but with the show he has more reach. Japan's problem is that they have no incentive to have kids. Women want independence and for the most part are expected to quit their jobs if they have a baby, and men want traditional house wives. Also, most people are overworked - creating the want / need for escapism into hobbies (eg. Anime, music, idols). People get obsessed with their hobbies and lose desire for real relationships.
They need to make births cheaper (Australia even paid people to have babies), make child care easier for mum to get ( you pretty much need a job before having a baby to get child care. It's hard to have a baby then find a job) and have stricter rules about over working.
but if they did that, japan would actually do something REASONABLE. rather that being "oh those wacky japanese" we know and love.
