Watched this movie for the first time when I was 14, I didn't get it then and thought it was boring. Watching again now at 32 it's mind blowing how good it is.
I’d argue it’s kind of missing one of the things that makes the movie great. Blanche is living in a fantasy world bordering on delusion, while Stanley represents the harsh ugly world around her. So it’s honestly kind of brilliant that Vivien Leigh is going over the top like a stage actor while Marlon Brando is doing a more grounded realistic performance.
Following Fourplay can be quite bad for your sleeping schedule if you wanna make yourself a great movie night with Godfather but by the end you realise it's almost a crime not to watch part II right after. Lemme tell you going to sleep at 3am and waking up 6.30 doesn't feel the same as when i was 20 yrs old. But it was worth it od course. Two absolute masterpieces And kinda boring episode since you all love it so much😄
They mentioned the Irish, if anyone's looking for a good Irish mob movie I would recommend State Of Grace. Big favorite of mine I almost never see mentioned, and one of my favorite Gary Oldman performances.
One part of the broader Godfather conversation that was mostly left out of this particular conversation is how Godfather Part II may be an even better film than Part I. This is a widely discussed topic, not some niche, fart-smelling critic take.
thorin with the fresh cut
ofc, always need a fresh cut and a new suit when youre watching Godfather.
Would the godfather be improved with a werewolf break?
Unequivocally, yes.
We need the Francis Ford Coppolla arc, the Apocalypse Now breakdown would be sick, especially with all the production chaos
This is such a brilliant suggestion, watching the trio review apocalypse now and the conversation would be quite something
@@SauceAppleEater_2885 Trio? Aren't you forgetting someone?
Duncan "They Pull Me Back In" Shields
Thorin looks like a king in the thumbnail 👑
This one I knew would deliver and deliver it did. Not my favorite genre of movies but this is too good.

nice to see duncans had a wash
watched this movie when i was 18 and even though it felt a bit slow at times, even my tiktok brain could appreciate it for how great it is.
Just rewatched this in theaters the other day, great timing for the vid
Another banger episode
Richard with the fresh lenses. 🔥
Oh shiiiiit
The director in the beginning calls Tom Hagan his Mick-Kraut friend. Regarding 49:54.
Thorin with the fresh line up. 🔥
Having watched Streetcar Named Desire a while ago, Monte's point about the acting disparity really rings true

"It's good enough, here's Dutch angle, fuck you." Is so fucking funny.
Great film and the book is pretty good too.
As a Zoomer I can confirm this movie surprised me with how good it was. Legitimately the best movie I have ever seen.
Duncan looking fresh af
This movie is one of those few that is way better than the book that inspired it
Unless I missed it, the 4th panelist in this series Mr Roger Ebert didn't get his review shared this episode lol. Such a shame

I gotta watch part 2 now.

Thorin in that graphic looks fucking sick.
Had to load up GF1 after this. My fave of all time. You will never get this type of quality anymore. Its over. Done. History.
I hope Thorin goes completely unhinged and brings out the RUclips therapists in this episode
New intro is cool
Getting high and watching 2001: A Space Odyssey in college turned me into a fart sniffing film snob.
For any fans of this movie - there is a fantastic voice acted audiobook of the book available for free on youtube
Why does Thorin only talk at 1 speed and that speed is like he’s on 60mg of adderall

I dunno guys, I think I prefer Jurassic Park
if my calculation is correct, thats 2 bill in 2024
Yep, exactly why top grossing films need to be adjusted for inflation when ranked
Am I the only one who found Richard to be somewhat annoying this episode?
Yes.
definitely just you lmao
Yes. You are alone.
