When you have to dedicate 4 minutes in a 11 minute video to explain and clarify yourself, it reflects of what kind of society of offended snowflakes we have become.
If you see Ayushmann Khurrana's movies, every single one of them deals with topics that highlights society's issues or taboos, but they don't get backlash, they get National Awards, why, because they are made in a way that doesn't offend anyone rather make people conscious about those issues. So it proves that great movies can be made without offending someone. Same happened with OMG which dealt with such a sensitive topic. The way it was made, it didn't offend any religion rather made people aware of the negative aspects of many practices.
So true. Movie makers back then were actually careful and tried their best to not offend anyone but now, it's just political agendas (except a few) and targeting a particular community because they can't tolerate a Gujarati
You said it yourself, the movie offended the people who were conscious of it, so what about a topic that is wrong but widely accepted as most are conscious of it. So people will surely get offended

Yesterday I was watching this movie called Delhi 6 The song named Arziyan was playing & they were showing beautiful scene of people offering namaz in Jama Masjid. Now coming to the very next scene where they show some people doing Ram Leela. In this scene they show how badly Dalits are treated by keeping them at distance from other people. They're not supposed to cross that some line & one of them(divya dutta's character) gets geaten by the cops for crossing the same. The scene of Jama Masjid is pure beauty & the scene condemning caste discrimination is also needed. Every religion has it's flaws but when Bollywood shows positive side of one religion & negative side of another in two adjecent scenes then it creates a subtle propaganda & that's the problem. The problem isn't criticism but selective criticism. In one scene you show good side of one religion & in another bad side of another religion. If you're criticising then criticise both equally. (Just an Opinion) ♥
Offend hona is not wrong But criticism should not reach to the demand of boycott That was what the video was about Kuch samjhne ki bhi koshish kiya karo

Most film reviewers when talking about this issue tend to take a side with the filmmakers and somehow try to ridicule the audience. Fortunately, you did not do this, which is why I will always respect you for that. Coming to this new boycott trend I have a few points: 1) a few section of the society will always have some issues with a content but what if the section in consideration turns out to be a large majority? 2) there has always been censorship of content , even 50 years ago (Kissa Kursi Ka) but due to social media this has become more mainstream than ever before. 3) a recent trend of many films and series have been found to be hurtful to a particular section of the society, but I think it is the absence of similar hurtful content of other parts of the society that makes this all look one-sided. 4) The selective, quick apology of filmmakers for one section (related to minorities) and absence of or rather a fake apology for the other section is also something to wonder about. We all know how selective our Bollywood can be. 5) lastly, I believe that this boycott trend sometimes actually back fires because it causes a huge uproar on social media and some audiences might watch it just out of retaliation to the social media uproar. Who knows maybe this is a well thought out marketing strategy. Nevertheless, a very thoughtful video Anmol❤️
Mani Ratnam literally had balls to make movie 'Bombay' and was way ahead of its time. In those days, people didn't use hastag words in digital world, they used swords in reality. I seriously think what would happen if 'Bombay' is released today?
This boycott cuture is primarily reason why the bollywood industry lags so much behind the southern film industry. Here(kerala), the boycott culture is practically non-existent.
@Krish Harasha why all are divided, i am indian from the south and in kerala criticism against islam is not here in cinemas, but there are a lot of criticism towards Hinduism and Christianity here
@Krish Harasha hinduism is a non structural non abhrahamic religion yes it contains porn, butchering, polygamy etc, but hinduism didnt force anyone to believe in it, abhrahamic religion like judaism, Christianity, islam also contains porn, polygamy, bloodbath, Pedophyl contents etc. But in normal society people are not criticising islam(its called kaikezhi effect), There is no liberals to stand for minorities in islamic countries. The overwhelming appeasement towards minority by britishers, liberals, left, disguisting feminists leads to unconditional unification of hindus in india. Hinduism may have many demerits but it is far more tolerant than others. Constition permits everyone to choose their belief, you cant counterably argue about your athiestic logical values into religion, because religion is not forcibly encounter on your atheistic and logical reasonings, religion and atheism are seperate basket you cannot argue that one of the basket should be destroyed bcz it is against fundamentals of indian constitution.. And again i will say there is no criticism towards islam but even as a minority Christianity face criticism in malayalam cinema, this is the fact and i didnt care about ur so called secular feelings

Asking for the ban of something is just because you don't like it is no one's right , you don't like it , you don't watch it . Everywhere directors take their creative liberty & have made movies challenging the various strata of society , from government to police to army to the common people. I have one simple question to JammyPants... why does bollywood makes fun of / criticize only Hindus; why they never dare to do the same with Muslim or any other religion... after all, none of them are perfect. also, why do you make videos defending them?
It's you, who get offended.. for eg. Munawar Faruqui cracked hundred jokes on muslims but idk when he said something about Hindu's and gt beaten. Now, everyone get offended so easily.. even we can't criticise the govt. If you do, they'll put you on jail.
I think you are well and truly accurate in saying that all of these movied would possibly not see the theatre screens today in the current environs. As for twittering, im not for it and am not even on it, its strange that people who are on it or similar platforns have so much time to vehemently oppose any or every topic. Those days may probably never come back when we could all have a decent discussion without raising voices.. Its an old time GD (group discussion) gone bad.
At least we have not yet seen a situation like Kissa Kursi Ka which showed things were bad at it's time. Sholay would not have been given a General certificate had they shown Gabbar being killed. & Gulzar's Libaas still remains unreleased because of it's take on Extra Marital affairs
No one mentions how Liberal Kamal Hassan cried saying 'I want to leave this country' when his own production Vishwaroopam 2 was halted for release by the peaceful community over one scene and the incident was calmly brushed under the carpet as it is a SECULAR issue. But when we just ask for a ban on a release, we are labeled as communal. The fact that the movie failed to make it to this list shows how scared the owner of this channel is with the peaceful community
Problem is not films being offending problem is it is always offending selectively to one community Waiting for the day when these Bollywood walas would have spine enough to offend the other community
I got awkward a lot of times while watching PK and O my god! But it did not reduce my faith in God. I just started thinking deeply about the so called God-men and their motives who brainwash a lot of innocent people in the name of God.
This is the real reason why indian films are not yet reached the red carpet of the Oscars .Why are we offended by the subject matter of a movie ,but in actuality it is the same subject matter that made movies both relatable and acceptable to the general audience .On the other hand we have a Masala entertainer craps like Bhaagi,Race,Coolie no 1 ( dying a little while typing that),can show sexism and masochism without getting heat or so called offended people
@aa a Second Issue is that sadly we have to follow What Western society is following, the only reason Jallikattu was removed was because the western society is more focused on "Veganism" and Stop Animal Abuse". Jallikattu talks about an Animal Escape and how they came to take it back more related to Animal Abuse
Some wants to " BAN" some wants to " BEHEAD" Even you did not include a movie like " LIPSTICK UNDER MY BURKHA" even you know it may backfire you in a long way and asking for your de@th.. this is what the problem lies even talking about movies which would get a lot of backlash , you chooses to stick to the movies with a safe passage.. mostly what these ppl can do it ask for a BAN on your channel but if you had included the other side of the spectrum you also know that they won't ask for a BAN or run a # against you.. they will find you and you'll be gone missing

I think if some contents are offensive to some people that shouldn't be removed but I also think there should be some understanding in all people what is the red line. If something is really offensive towards a particular group you can see it. You don't need to be from that group to understand what actually is too much.

Superb video- well said! A lot of old movies contained great social commentary but wouldn't be allowed on screen today. Twitter is notoriously toxic, I would not recommend it.
Agreeing with many points you mentioned and not agreeing with some points too. Creative freedom doesn't mean to hurt someone's religious sentiment by particularly making fun of their Gods. The movies which you mentioned are atleast releasing and earning money. Many facts that are existing in society but nobody dares to touch those subjects because it would be like playing with life. Example, Love Jihad, Reservation side effects, Converting religion of poor people. Will Vishal Bhardwaj make a movie for soldiers in Kashmir suffering from stone pelting every now and then on their military vehicles with them inside? Will Raju Hirani make something where they criticize practices like bakri eid(Irrfan Khan faced a backlash on social media for just speaking on it on a news debate)? Imagine someone making a film on such issues which really exist in our society will they even get a release date or censor certification? If you remember there were riots after Gadar was released. Above all I agree to the point that being Over sensitive is also not correct.

Yesterday I was watching this movie called Delhi 6
The song named Arziyan was playing & they were showing beautiful scene of people offering namaz in Jama Masjid.

I hope the government intervention doesnt bring down the authenticity of the ott movies/series...this is the only entertainment platform thats not controlled by any single company/mafia
Most film reviewers when talking about this issue tend to take a side with the filmmakers and somehow try to ridicule the audience. Fortunately, you did not do this, which is why I will always respect you for that.
Coming to this new boycott trend I have a few points:
1) a few section of the society will always have some issues with a content but what if the section in consideration turns out to be a large majority?

A film like 'Oh my God (OMG)' is the best class example of how to approach a sensitive topic like religion, beliefs and god. There was no outrage then and even if it released today there won't be any outrage.
I agree 100% , a filmmaker wouldn't dare to show those aspects of the society through his movies
